Most positive things I hear about 5v5 all come to a single conclusion for me: Everybody is just giga hyped bc it's new shit after 2 years of nothing. Now imagine they would've done that with 6v6. Less CC, limit the game to 1 shield Tank (for example MT/OT split) and actually released new Tanks and Supports the last 2 years. Bc what I've heard too is that balance is a mess. Even though I hate stuns, I feel like Sombra's hack needs to disable abilities for just one more second. From 1s to 2s. Why? Bc it's funny to hack a Lucio and they fall off the map lol
Yeah, that one second seems rather useless. But that's just coming from an outsider's perspective, I've never played the game so I don't know how much a second would matter
@@isky6541 In Overwatch, you can lose the entire game because of a tenth of a second, sometimes even less, one second is huge (e.g. you just barely can't get to point quick enough in overtime, you just barely miss the timing window to block a shatter, you throw a grav into defense matrix and lose it and the DVA runs out of matrix a few frames later, you almost cancel Sombra's EMP with a stun, but you're just barely too slow and EMP comes out before the stun hits, etc...)
@@chatfou57 That's a bit dramatic... Besides, the ability disable in the alpha with hack is actually less than a second, it's like half a second. So adding another second would make a decent difference, because now you get to bully Lucio slightly more ;)
@@Tom-H1 This wasn't exactly meant as "I don't want hack to last any longer" (although I totally get why you'd think that given my comment lol) This was more to give a sense of how fast the game can be. I hate Sombra's hack, because I play a lot of characters who rely on abilities, but even I think the disable should last a bit longer, because right now it's basically just an interrupt. It doesn't stop people from doing things, it just slows them down a bit, and the combo potential is pretty low because of how short the window is, which is a shame, because combos are a great part of what makes OW great imo. Some people say the 40% extra damage from Sombra onto the hacked target is really significant though, so maybe for balance they could lower that to 25% or 30% but add 1 sec to the disable, to make hack-based ability combos (e.g. hack into shatter) a bit more forgiving in terms of timing without making hack a busted ability, but that seems unlikely since it looks like the devs want Sombra to be more of an individualistic and opportunistic assassin than a team player in OW2, and they've tried to get rid of almost all cc on dps
I think the minus 1 tank is huge to individual player potential because think about it. It's essentially removed 30 percent of the enemy health pool. Should seriously increase pacing and skillcap
It seems like movement and survivability are gonna be super important in OW 2, since there’s one less tank to help with peel and less stuns to stop characters like ball or Lucio
Minus one Tank is straight up just giga-boosting mobile self sustain heroes. Half the Support and Tank roster is pretty garbo rn. I wouldn't count this towards individual player carry potential. It's just that 5v5 is way more deathmatchy and lots of heroes don't excel in that at all per fundamental design.
@@DarthCookieOW yeah I agree some heroes need more movement like ana or zen but that's why they only removed ONE tank. There's still an objective and there's still 4 other players on your team. Those heroes are still more than viable in the current understanding of the alpha meta. Overall I haven't seen anyone assert that their hero is no longer viable given the changes.
I always play Mercy and Lucio, because my aim is garbage so the best I can do is heal/speed in the right moments and maybe land less as half of my shots. As far as I have seen it's no more big team fights, it's all about mobility and fighting people alone or in a small group. I think most people will love the new content, but to me it looks so stressful.
It looks like OW2 is a lot of fun so far! I wonder what changes to Lucio will be added before full release? Also the background music in this vid was so chill and nice. What is it from?
it's from animal crossing! i think either from new leaf or new horizons? i dont know the exact songs but most acnl/nh songs are very calming like this, especially the nighttime/morning time ones.
Lucio has turned into basically Scout from TF2 Elite aggressive/aggressor.( apart from Lucio not having a shotgun but you get the point ) and the fact that there since there are no stuns 'yet' you can quite literally run around the map for no reason. I love playing him but that's my opinion if you disagree well that's the nature of opinions. the question does remain though what happens if two luccios who act like Scouts play style me each other? now that will be CHAOTIC
All this is great to hear, it sounds like overwatch 2 will be the land of the Reddit lucios so maybe I will finally stop feeding and get out of diamond
5v5 is so good because you can have actual stagger fights now instead of one person being picked and the rest of the team fets steamrolled even though you can still do that if you kill good targets
I feel like this video is the perfect reason for there to be CC in overwatch. I don't think a healer should be able to go into the backline of another comp and absolutely demolish both supports. There is no way to punish Lucio, as well as other dive characters with decent movement. I think that supports who enjoy playing ana or zen are going to have a really rough time with this new game. Now I agree that CC is nowhere near perfect in its current state, and obviously needs tweaking, but there is no way that this style of play should go unpunished.
I think it does, because Ana can self heal with nade without interrupting the passive self heal, and the same goes for all other sources of healing as far as I can tell. And I think it wouldn't really make sense if there was a distinction between different sources of healing, that kind of thing has never happened, even with other new mechanics in OW2, so implementing it just for the support role passive would be really weird
I'm a little bit worried about OW2 as someone who loves feeding my brains out on Winston. From what I've heard, he's a much worse pick, and with only one tank slot I wouldn't want to make things worse for other players by picking a terrible hero. Part of me worries that they only got rid of the second tank slot because 5 is more standard, rather than it being better for the game, but I'm hoping it'll work out.
Dont worry, tank is basically cleanup now, u don't really do much anyway and ur kinda unkillable, also doomfist is basically just winston so now u have 2 winstons if u ever wanted that, i know i didnt, no 5 is not good for the game, its is not more clear, not more balanced, its just easier for mobile to run and make no mistake we will be getting mobile
Honestly I thought winston was pretty weak at first but I've heard he does really good because of his shield, he builds his ultimate really fast too since I think that ult charge rate got buffed. I think his playstyle might be different but I still think he'll work with a lot of aggressive comps.
I feel like the change to one tank was only to combat the fact that the tank player base is much smaller. Rather than make tanks more fun to play, they just made it to where you don't need as many players now. It's all about game wait times.
Like you said I have to wait and see after I play, but one aspect of OW that has kept me around is the team synergy and cooperation. OW2 just seems like a plain old fps now. If I wanted that I'd just go play apex or something.

You mean he? And I kinda see your point but Lucio isn’t like an op dps who gets a kill and bounces away, he’s a support that does little damage and just has high mobility, so it’s not like unplayable to deal with.
