Love the tank, great choice. Have fun, the journey will certainly be an experience. Good fortune to you with your endeavor. Looking forward to future videos.
Ha I was close. I said everything the 7 or 8 foot. Kinda hedged my bet. I knew it was going to be bigger than the Pragmatic Reef though. I wanted this tank but went custom and a foot shorter. My tank is in my basement and the tank would have fit but not the stand. I contacted WaterBox and I could not get the stand unassembled or even partially assembled so I went custom and had a custom stand made so I could put it together myself. I know you must be excited. I also know when you got it up there in the back of your mind you were like what did I do. Video does not do it justice. You have to see it sitting in your house to understand how big it actually is. So happy gor you. It's gonna be awesome.
This is awesome, I can't wait to follow this journey! Your going to kick ass on this tank. As we all know, your gonna have to go through all of the ugly stages to allow your tank to establish itself. I can't wait to see how you manage it at this large size capacity of a tank!
It will be fun to see what you will make. Realized that the sump of your old setup was bigger then my current saltwater aquarium. There's always something new to get. :D
Congrats - Beautiful aquarium. Just one bit of advice for you. I ran my tanks 110g and smaller and always had easily controlled nutrients and figured my 400g bare bottom would be the same. Wrong, Now I am carbon dosing with Vinegar and using LC for PO. I wish I had started using this right away before letting my nutrients get to of the charts high but you live and you learn. Larger tanks = more food, bigger inverts, bigger fish, and less flow and water change inputs than smaller reefs. I had zero algae yet my Nutrients went of the charts and set me back awhile. So do everything possible from the start to control nutrients early on and not wait a few months bc they go up super quick compared to smaller reefs.
Would really be interested in your techniques for getting this tank into place. Have a similar tank awaiting my aquarium room to get finished up so I can move tank into place.
You should consider checking out some of the Tunze wave boxes or 6105s for some of your flow, they are highly underrated and I think they deserve some extra attention.
Love the new tank! Euro bracing eliminates splashes and majority of fish that ride the wall up and out of the tank. Question.. was this sponsored? Also was the tank and stand delivered completely assembled? Congrats man I’m tuning in 🫡
It’s going to be incredible! I’d like to cast a vote for lots of medium & large tangs and angelfish. Heavy nutrients in and out. Lots of small fish could be cool, but I don’t know if it’s possible to execute it well. Tons of small fish swimming around… kind of seems like it will be hard for anything to stand out. And I think a lot of people imagine a big school or two of small fish. Would be awesome in theory, but 1) usually these fish pick eachother off one-by-one and 2) while you can see actual schooling behavior with baby chromis, I have looked all over youtube and I can’t find any large groups of adult chromis, anthias, firefish, etc schooling where they swim in the same direction and change direction together. It just doesn’t exist in an aquarium to my knowledge. Plenty of videos of them swarming together but those are always feeding videos, which does not count as schooling in my opinion. Another thing, a lot of smaller fish tend to be the more timid/peaceful type and there’s a decent chance that if you end up moving into more assertive fish, many of the peaceful fish may not do well. I’m sure you have enough experience to pull it off, but managing algae without tangs could be brutal. Excited for whatever you choose to do with it! As for the rock scape, that’s a tough decision. Did you rule out a bare bottom tank? I would put some serious thought into that especially if you go with the heavy bio load with heavy nutrients in and out. With bare bottom, you can put those power heads right on the bottom of the tank a keep detritus suspended and headed into filtration.
Thanks Tim, very good points and they come in handy. I think a group of anthias and/or chromis will look great, but angelfish and tangs - that I really am excited about, so definitely will be there. Barebottom is not an option for me, I want to have wrasses and I love love love the look of sand, so higher nutrients is totally fine.
Your video gives the impression that this change is quite significant, almost as if it's a daunting challenge for you. However, from my perspective, it appears you're essentially just doubling the volume. Given that you've previously maintained fantastic-looking reefs, you clearly understand how to manage them successfully. What specifically concerns you about this change?
Well said, I think daunting is a good way to describe how I feel about it sometimes. I have always found that things in saltwater scale linearly - double the volume means double of everything. But if things were to go wrong, disaster on this tank will be a lot more consequential than when a 20 gallon tank has an issue. But hey, bold moves are needed sometimes in life.
Really looking forward to following your journey, equipment, lights, flow rates etc. You are going to have a lot of fun
Thank you Andy.
Looking forward to this build .. I can't wait til the day I can get a big aquarium like this.

Thanks Kasey, happy to try to move the hobby forward and if others can learn from my successes and failures, even better.
Did you have to reinforce your flooring for this size of a tank? Can't wait to see this completed!
I'm leaving no stone unturned. Thanks for following along.

If you are located in Ontario - I would use the same people as I did, it was a crazy process. Love it to professionals

I am a huge fan of those wave boxes, never have seen them for sale for some reason, great product.

The tank came already fully assembled, just need to add doors and hook up plumbing. Love Waterbox!

Sweet 👍 very nice
You should call it The Treasure Experience. That way you continue falling your previous concept. 👍
ahahaha, good idea :)
Dmitry hope this works well. Its huge
Thank you, quite a project
Now that the tank is in place the fun begins
Ha :)
Hell yeah, big tanks are big smiles!
Ha :)
Damn. Doing water changes on that is gonna be a hassle
The plan is to automate it
Отлично 👍, жду с нетерпением продолжения.
Спасибо! :)
lets go EXPERIENCE
You said it! :D
light hybrid with t5 and AI grow.
Good idea, but I think blades are going to get me very similar results with more flexibility

Waterbox 340 = Big $$$$$$$$$$$$
Not more expensive than any other large aquarium. But yes, this hobby takes a lot of resources.
