    I think the reason why your method of completely repainting the groundwork black/dark brown and then highlighting later looks so good, is that it unifies the groundwork with the model. You paint the model the exact same way -- dark first, then building up lighter colours on top -- so everything looks like it belongs in the scene as the visual style is all the same :)

    For anyone wondering, this tank was commanded by Lt. Zobel of 2. Abteilung, Panzerregiment 31, 5. Panzerdivision. The original picture was taken on May 13th, 1940 near Av. Colonel Cadoux 3, 5537 Dinant, Belgium. The tank fell off a ferry when transporting it across the Maas (Meuse) river. As ConeOfArc so nicely puts it: ""...approaching the shore, the ferry lifts, the load shifts, and the tank falls into the river."

    I think the bubbles and distorted area of the water added some more realism to the model.
    There's lots of gasses trapped under soil. When thet gets disturbed (By driving a tank into it as an example) you will get all these bubbles rising to the surface.
    But i understand that it wouldnt look as good as it should at these smaller scales.

    Thank you for putting out excellent videos and I love your narration…you instruct and keep us interested at the same time.
    Your resin work is outstanding and motivating. I’ve only used resin twice, and the second time I made the mistake of using NOT deep pour resin and the layers below were leaking out as the top layers were curing. I was so stressed out I just threw the whole project away.
    Watching your videos has taught me a lot…and I’m motivated to try resin again in my hobby work.

    I’m an archaeologist, and your earthwork on the embankment was spot on-I should know, I look at dirt all day long. It’s unfortunate that the resin water creeped up the side, but your colors and composition look fantastic!

    • @SteamCheese1
      @SteamCheese1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm a Railroader, so I don't look at dirt all day long. So I'm asking you as a dirt connoisseur, sommelier and expert. Doesn't water creep up like that? Or does it look unnatural to you? Does it depends on where the lake is located geographically?

    • @outcastmodels4932
      @outcastmodels4932 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SteamCheese1 really good question! I’ve only ever seen it when the water level dropped for whatever reason. I’m sure some riverbanks have water creeping up on them, but I can’t recall seeing that myself. But I’ve seen it at dammed lakes where the water level can be controlled. It only lasts for a few hours though-after that the soils appear to become dry.
      Like I said, I’m sure somewhere in the world there’s a riverbank that’s proving me wrong lol

    • @SteamCheese1
      @SteamCheese1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@outcastmodels4932 Thanks for your response man! Yeah I went to our local pond to look at it and you're right. On the surface it looks dry and doesn't really creep up. Only like 2 to 5 millimeters. But under the surface if you just dig a few centimeters, the dirt feels moist and is a bit darker.
      So my guess is that on the surface the rate of evaporation is too fast to stay moist. So it looks dry.

    • @ZiddersRooFurry
      @ZiddersRooFurry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteamCheese1 It really depends on the weather. I used to live where it was really humid and sometimes the dirt and sand around the waters edge would remain moist after it rained or after the water was disturbed, etc. It never was for long. Maybe this tank was recently submerged.

    When sanding a large surface on a sheet of sandpaper, move the component in a "Figure 8" pattern. This will removed the "High" points quicker and also help keep the component level on the paper and reduce any slope/angle that might occur when reciprocal sanding.

    If you don't mind 1:56 scale [or 1:48 for the vehicle] Warlord's Bolt Action line has decent multi-part WW2 soldiers for every major combatant and a few minors [like Italy, Poland, Finland and the various British Dominion forces]. You get enough bitz in a box to build like 20 soldiers, and the even have cool special bitz like loose helmets, arms with stick-grenades, sniper/machine gunner bodies, multiple head and arm pose options and such. The kits were designed to let you build an entire Platoon and not have any 2 soldiers exactly the same. Most of their tank kits have bitz to build multiple variants of the vehicle [the Chi-Ha kit comes with 1 lower hull and 2 sets of stowage, turret and upper hull so you can make the type-95 or type-97, The Panzer IV kit does the same with either the howitzer or anti-tank gun]

    That’s a great diorama, I love it. If I can give you some feedback from working with the real thing, it’s that wire recovery ropes don’t bend easily. Heck they often won’t bend at all, unless it’s awkward, in which case they’ll bend in an awkward but graceful arc to wherever you don’t want them. They’re very springy, and the bend radius would be around the same as the curve on panther, tiger or cromwell/comet wheel for a sense of scale, unless you’re really applying a lot of pressure. keep up the good work!

    Loving these quick small projects from you. It's fun to get the whole project in one video.
    I wonder if there is any way to get the resin water to have less surface tension; at this scale it tends to creep up the sides of objects such as the turret and river bank. Thin resin would be difficult to contain without spilling, but maybe finishing the surface with an extremely thin layer of a very runny form of resin would help hide this phenomenon without requiring the whole base to be complexly watertight.

    I love these “tiny” builds, seems like you can produce a lot more videos doing these. Please keep doing (I know you will anyways) the regular couple video long series’s.

    Fantastic diorama. However, I warn you against using only adhesive tape to hold the edges. In one of my models, under the influence of the sun (?), the glue in the tape dried up and the part just fell off.

    Panzer of the lake, what is your wisdom?
    *16 ton pontoons are not great for 25 ton tanks*
    For anyone wondering, it’s about the origin of the Panzer of the lake, they tried using a pontoon not rated for the size of the tank. Also, the Panzer is in a river. Look at the channel Cone de Arc on TH-cam for more info.

    It’s so amazing to see how you can make those wonderful models.
    Have you considered making a tank from the 40k universe?

    Hello Uncle.
    I really enjoy your work, and think it's all excellent. For some unknown reason I find this one especially pleasing. I think it's the river bank and the simplicity of the scene. Keep up the good work 👍🙂

    Another stunning piece, & so interesting to watch from start to finish! Good actually to see that things can always go wrong (resin & bubbles) even with the best modellers….& how to try & rectify them. Quality as always 😌👌

    Two quick tips:
    1) its mostly the CO2 from the torch that pops the bubbles.
    Breathing through a drinking straw should have the same effect (without the heat).
    2) when adding debris from a specific direction, tilt your project, prop it up at an angle.
    And scatter your debris. Tilt it back- or forwards depending on light or heavy material.

    Amazing diorama as always, simmilary to this you could do a t-34 that drove into an irrigation ditch with maybe a log under the tracks after the crew couldnt get it out

    Yes,yes,yes! What a great idea for a diorama. I've enjoyed the memes and now it's 3D! This was really inspired and the effects you did on the lake/river bank turned out beautifully. As we might say here in the States, you hit an out of the park home run with the bases loaded (this might be only understandable here and in Japan).

    I was a little perturbed when you suggested that you might go to less-frequent-but-longer videos. Here in the UK your regular Friday video drops pretty much just after I finish work, and has become as much a part of my 'THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE!' feeling as my first Friday beer. However, on the flipside it's great to see a whole build in a single video, and to have a whole 30 minutes of super-crispy Night Shift content. So, it turns out I'm happy with either!
    Lovely build, as ever....
