Do It All from LOTU just became the head councilman of Newark NJ about 2 weeks ago, love this song, O.G classic. They are from Newark except Dj Lord Jazz who's from Cleveland, album dropped in 93.
Yesssss I love it! I play these oldies but goodies for my 17 and 13 yr olds every morning otw to school so they know we didn’t play back in the day!!! This was my shizzzzz!!!! And I love seeing young ones get turned on to true hits!! Love you channel young man and it did my ❤ good to see your reaction, I was rocking with you!!!🙋🏽♀️❤️💪🏾💯
FUN FACT: Lords of the underground motivated me to go to Shaw university that’s where they met …their next single they filmed on campus …we graduated ✊🏽 doing well … Shaw’s bday (founded 1865) is today 12/1 157 years of black excellence
@fubar5554 The entire early 90's was the golden era.....Nas, Tribe, Big L, Wu, Roots, Eric B & Rakim, KRS-One, Mobb Deep....it was just an endless supply of really good stuff
Lords are great. You probably understand why so many people love these late 80s/early 90s East Coast beats. Btw 93 was a hell of a great year musically.
This came out in 93..I was 16 then..this is problaby one of the best hip hop songs of the 90s..i had this tape actually..I literally wore it out..it snapped on me..everybody who was a teen back then remembers going through that 😂😂 They are from Newark. NJ by the way
So was I I was in da Bronx had there first joint as well psycho in 92 I am a DJ everything back down with mine on there was no digital anything I used to cut my records Rock and soul on 7th avenue near Macy's on the Bronx
I was in Highschool when this came out and I remember going crazy over this song in 1993 and it was playing everywhere. The radio every half hour, clubs, skating rings and everyone's car back in Philly. Brings back so many memories. Bruh!
I still remember when this came out. I bought the cassette tape of this album. Just the name Lord's of the Underground is what caught my attention as a young kid. It was like getting on a new ride when I brought it home and put on my big ass headphones 🎧 and blown away. Before that it was a lot of Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Johnny Horton, songs from like to 40's to the early 70's. Still listening to them to this day . Cheers to the video
I went to school with them. Shaw University. The DJ Lord jazz had his radio show. Once they got popular. I took it over. But they was one of the last great rap group. Back then it was cool to go gold not platinum but gold was platinum back then. Also. Before the first album came out. They released 5 songs and videos before the album came out. That was to let u know they was coming this way there hit that blew for them. Played it in college and all down south east coast.
Yo thats off their debut Here Come the Lords 1993. Production by two of the greatest Marly Marl and K Def. Same dudes who did a lot of production for Da Youngstas. Next up do Da Youngstas Mad Props. Salute from Zimbabwe Africa. I personally have always described LOTUG as the one hip hop group with the perfect voice to beat matching. Their voices are on point with their beats.
Remember the day I bought this album in a small record shop in 1995. Still listen to it on a bi monthly basis even though I'm a long time scandinavian death metal fan
I really miss the golden era of hip hop! If you haven't already, check out legends like Black Moon, the entire Hit Squad, A Tribe Called Quest ,Leaders of the new school , The Roots , Dungeon Family, Onyx, B.D.P, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Wu- tang , Biggie , 2pac Gang Starr. The list goes on and on What made this period so crucial to hip hop was the incredible diversity in sounds that each artist brought to the table. Everyone had their unique style, and imitating someone else was frowned upon-often referred to as “biting.” I have immense respect for the current generation's music, but I encourage all artists to embrace their individuality. Don't be afraid to experiment and develop a style that sets you apart. Originality is one of the foundational pillars of hip hop, and it’s what makes the genre so vibrant and alive!
I can't even say what I wanna say lol 🙌🏾🔥 They were also in the "ITSOWEEZEE" vid you reacted to. Also, this is a different version. If you've ever been able to use vids from UPROXX channel, they always have the right version and quality is crisp or it will say if it's a clean version, extended cut etc. Big up to you for this one tho💯 Did you notice Redman in the background in a few scenes?
@@shawnytv_ 😂😂😂 ya, that was him. Just second quick flashes like 3 or 4 times. He was wearing a black skully and a black vest and tall of course. I guess it's a New Jersey connect lol
I suggest STAKES IS HIGH - De La Soul...it's deep Blacksheep - FLAVOR OF THE MONTH (my older sister explained the vid to me so many times and I still didn't get it til I was older🙈) Lucy Pearl - DANCE TONIGHT
Although I'm a huge fan of LOTU, they were considered by most to be clones of Das Efx. Das was from the sewer. Lord's was from the underground. Pretty close. But LOTU's first song sounded so much like a Fast track, a lot of people thought it was Das. Lord's even say it in the song Funky Child. They were Poppin tho
This is pure hip hop…no violence or gangsta sh*t…just raw hip hop
Do It All from LOTU just became the head councilman of Newark NJ about 2 weeks ago, love this song, O.G classic. They are from Newark except Dj Lord Jazz who's from Cleveland, album dropped in 93.
I saw that..... I love reading comments to learn what I didn't know....

Real hip hop! 🔥
Lords are great. You probably understand why so many people love these late 80s/early 90s East Coast beats. Btw 93 was a hell of a great year musically.
The second MC is "Do It All". He's a New Jersey councilman as of July 2022.
It would be such a blessing if rap music today started to sound like this. I can hardly stand any rap music after the 90s.
No lies! I miss real Hip Hop 😪
same
I would LOVE if Hip-Hop & Rap went back to what I used to listed to in the 90s growing up 🫢
It has so much more to sample and it's so much easier to do. This should be the 2nd golden era of hip hop.

You are on a great run of great great bangers!!!! We here....1
what you don;t understand is that hip hop started in NYC so most of the rappers, back then, were from New York.
Is there some reason why Lords haven't been resurrected?
I strung up so much antenna wire to tape-record these guys (+ others) on KBOO.
Why do 90s rappers always tell you what year it is
This was the original version of the song till they started editing things for radio
Do a search for Rap City
