Great video..I know this is a older thread but I just got the 4040 used for very good price I'm coming from a 15-year-old Sanyo Z 2000.. just curious do you mind sharing your settings that you have your setup for thank you
Hello sir just wondering how you got the Alexa plug to turn on the projector I have a 5040ub and am unable to get that to work. Still have to use the remote each time
I wonder if it is still worth it to buy a refurbished 4040 from epson, for $1,300. No spare lamp, no mount, just a projector and 3 year limited warranty. There is also 3700 for 900. I only watch 1080p content. What do you get with firmware updates? Sometime updates screw things up.
steve Gamble check the size of your thumb drive. If it’s larger than 16 GB it won’t work. Totally lame... but the firmware update is well worth the effort.
I learned from an Epson tech that if your thumb drive is larger than 16 GB the projector won’t recognize the it. The firmware update only works with a 16 GB or less thumb drive. The firmware update is well worth it.
@@jr62inhometheater98 That would be a really nice feature, but it does not have it. I don't think they update the firmware often like apple does for iPhones so they probably felt it is not necessary.
Thanks buddy 🙏great info!!
Thank you, just got my 5050.

I just ordered the 4040, Am I right to say the 4040 is a Black 4000 and the 4050 is a black 4010?
How is the projector picture quality this 4040
works great thanks
It’s crazy that a $1000 projector with internet access can’t update itself.
Holding power button and plugging in doesn't work ? 5040UB

Does the usb drive need to be formatted for PC? Or will Mac OS work as well?
Doesn't matter.

If you purchase a new Epson , say a 4050. Do you have to do a firmware update when you first install it?
Yes. Machines of all types may sit on a shelf before it is sold. In the meantime the firmware update came out before you bought it.
Virtual Daveailty I guess what I should have asked was , when you first turn it on is there a place on the menu that says check for firmware update?
@@jr62inhometheater98 It's not like your computer that gives you reminders. You have to check on your own.
Virtual Daveailty So there is no setting in the menu for like on a AVR for auto update to let you know there’s a update to be done.

They sell a very expensive WIFI adapter for it.
Good god DAMN!!!!
Why do we need to update firmware. What does it provide with the update
Who knows? It seems like anything electronic these days needs some sort of update.
