    Very interesting place to hike , you never know when something may go wrong and it is always good to listen to precaution and head back to safety

      +Hike with Mike even with the injury, it was still an awesome trip! The landscape alone was totally worth it.

      Just to be outside in the wilderness is good medicine no matter what happens!

    That is my absolutely favorite part of Oregon! So much amazing scenery between Santiam Pass and Jefferson Park. I've hiked just about every trail in that area. My number one choice for overnight or extended trips especially. Great video. Too bad that you guys weren't able to finish your trip the way you'd planned!

      Yes, it was unfortunate. But I will see it all next year when I do the Oregon section of the PCT :).

    Wow, here is where trail knowledge led to an excellent decision. I can see your thought process. Trails dropping to the east have no guarantee people are ever at those trailheads. While Marion Lake is close as the crow flies, it isn’t close by trail. Canyon Creek Meadows is such a popular day hike you are almost guaranteed to have people at the trailhead at Jack Lake. People even camp at the lake. So worst case would be to camp at the lake / trailhead / parking lot and have people show up the next day.

    Hello, thank u for sharing the video and blog which is very informative and useful. I have a Q if you dont mind - Im going to Eugene early May. And want to do this over the weekend May 6-8. Is it doable? Open? Too early and try somewhere else? Any recommendations are very much appreciated.

      It’s not accessible in May. You’ll likely have to stick to places below 5,000 feet elevation in early May.

    Is this trail still open or did one of the burns close it down? Looks like a gorgeous place

    Some great views in this video. Nice exposure for the sky, did you use a polarizing filter?
    Sorry for your husband, not funny when you are in pain in the middle of nowhere.

      +IronFreee no filter. I just record with my iPhone.

    Do you use hiking poles at all?

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I don't use hiking poles. I have to carry my DSLR camera and often my phone for videos. Poles would get in the way.
