    My biggest pet peeve in security is a sloppy uniform. I've seen from guards working at the larger companies with saggy/tattered slacks, Jordans on their feet, dirty/dingey uniforms and bad hygiene/grooming. No pride in their appearance whatsoever. They're the reason people in the general public don't take us seriously.

    I think a “clean” uniform is important, but I think there should be a clear line between police and security uniforms. I would be a little confused if I had an emergency and saw a security guard like you, I would think you were a police officer.... that’s just what am thinking

    • @Credible-SS
      @Credible-SS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is a great point Silas. We have the words “SECURITY” visible in 3 different places on our uniform. On our shield, brass name tag & on our photo identification, which is visibly worn. We also wear the SO (Security Officer) pins on the collar. Again, we make no claims to be police officers nor do we ever attempt to give the impression of that. We believe a professional looking, acting & credible security officer has more of an authoritative appearance than other companies who simply put a warm body in place, slap a uniform on them & call them a guard. Thank you for your comment. Stay Alert & Be Safe! #SABS #CssOne #OfficersNotGuards

      In most states it is law that you cannot have uniforms that confuse the public with Police, AZ is one of those states. Their rules have specific colors and combination of colors that cannot be worn by companies. Which is okay on paper but that also eliminates a large variety of uniform colors and variations. This gives companies only these basic colors to chose from: White, Red, Grey, Yellow and Orange. Not very good colors or professional looking if you ask me. I think AZ has since loosened some of those rules due to this problem and probably the vast number of complaints. But I do know your uniforms must clearly have the word SECURITY written on their uniforms and be visible. NM simply requires that a company not be confused with a law enforcement agency and that they have the word SECURITY clearly written on their uniforms and cars. Our uniforms could never be confused with any NM Law Enforcement agency and our units are clearly marked SECURITY. .

    • @user-dd2no2pr8t
      @user-dd2no2pr8t 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s the nature of the job to resemble law enforcement in appearance.
      The standard law enforcement uniform design is instilled in the consciousness of the public as authority, servant, or safety. So it’s to be expected that security professionals will utilize the well known appearance to give those they are serving the same feeling of safety. Needless to say that if the people serving that you are providing service for feels that you give off the law enforcement vibe you can rest assured that criminals and threat actors will also perceive it as well this mitigating incidents.
      Obviously, It can cause major problems if security officers confuse the public by not having SECURITY extremely visible on the uniform. What’s more it also is proven that uniforms alter the wearers personality and actions so the ego boost or power trips that can result from appearing as law enforcement while getting the same response as them from the public can cause security personnel to overstep their boundaries resulting in legal action and possibly criminal charges.

    What’s sad is most big companies like Allied Universal, Securitas etc, are the absolute worst at having their Officers look like crap. This is true in my town which has dominated all the good paying contracts such as Walmart, Home Depot & the hotels here. Every single one of these places has crappy crappy crappy looking people. It’s so sad. They are only there to collect a pay check.

    • @Credible-SS

      TRIBE LLC We would say it’s the trickle down effect. I think you may have the owner of a company who then puts people in charge who then hires other managers below them and it basically trickles down to some people not caring for their officers appearances. Don’t get me wrong, every now and then we have to speak upon it as well because sometimes it is a training thing. What may seem clean-cut to one may not be seeing the same way as another. However, I do think you’re right because having that “crappy” look while in uniform, really puts a blackeye on the industry. Thank you for the comment. Stay Alert & Be Safe! #SABS #CssOne

    Have been a "professional" S/O for over 30 years. I am always embarrassed by 90 % of the uniformed S/O I see on duty.
    Basically it's like this: Uniformed contact security is a bottom of the barrel low paying job! You are NOT going to attract quality people who are actually interested in the job! Notice how many of them are very young, or black, or immigrants? The best security people usually work in suits and ties for "in house" operations which have higher standards and pay better.

    In many situations a Uniformed Armed Security Officer is enough of a visible deterrent against potential violence. However, as the threat or potential for violence increases, an uniformed armed security officer can add an additional level of security protection. APS uniformed armed security officers are highly trained, screened and licensed in all applicable firearms training as required by state and local regulations.

      @@Credible-SS Public perception of a smart security officer goes a long way especially with employing their services. You get what you pay for.

    This isn't a lie. Even though human beings are smart, they still think primal. They see a big scary leopard with sharp teeth, they avoid. They see a house cat, they approach. I've witnessed this. I worked a terrible security job where we wore a puke yellow t shirt with a faded security font on the back. Every contact I made was met with smirks and sarcasm. When I do a higher level security job, we wear a plate carrier, id card displayed, and glock on the hip. Dressed like that, people avoided eye contact and we're hesitant to speak to me, which is a normal response. Influencing a person's perception is a major security strategy for criminal deterrence. That's why nightclub bouncers are 6ft tall. Perception.

    Not sure about wearing a uniform that looks like law enforcement. I would rather seek a uniform that prevents one from looking like their impersonating a police officer. Slate gray was a uniform that we were required to wear when the security company I use to work for was under the police commission.

    • @Credible-SS
      @Credible-SS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lucky to be, you’re referring to an Army regulation & security officers aren’t military nor are they going into battle. Under the U.S. Code, the way it’s worn in the video is the proper way for it to be worn by police or security as we’re not aggressive like the military, charging in. No, we stop, evaluate & then take action as needed. Good question. Stay Alert & Be Safe! #SABS #CssOne #OfficersNotGuards

      thank you for your service to our country. We love our country as well & obviously would never do anything intentional to disrespect our great country or our flag. Again, The flag being worn with the stars facing front was intended for the army. As I’m not an expert on the subject, I am 100% sure if you Google police officers and/or security, You will see many of them wearing the flag on the right sleeve, the same way our officers wear them. Thank you for taking time to comment. Stay Alert & Be Safe!

    I own a security company with multiple contracts ranging from residential, commercial, and federal. I can tell you from experience that this guy is a whacked out bozo who is attempting to feel important in his cereal police badge. First of all, majority of the security companies including mine do no pay guard enough money to dress the way he’s explaining. It’s not because I DONT want to, it’s just that the industry is competitive and it’s stupid to expect John Mcclane when your paying Paul blart money. # 2 I don’t take lessons from a old man who takes his training and advice from a movie lol he’s simply just trying to sell his merchandise.

      Thank you for taking the time to view our video and we appreciate your comment. It’s unfortunate that your company standards seem low. From one security professional to another, we would suggest you focus more upon increasing the pay for your guards as opposed to trying to knock down other officers.
