The work you do creating the Muay Thai library and preserving the legacy is amazing. Thank you so much for keeping history alive and documenting it.
I bought the book The most Distinguished Art of Fighting by Panya Kraitus who refernces passing on your teachings to the generation below you. Definitely hope there a few people like yourself and many other practitioners passing in their knowledge of traditional muay thai.
Thank you for always sharing and preserving the legacy.

I've seen it change in my own lifetime too. Since starting as a teenager at 17 all the way up to the present (I was 47 last November). I do fear for the clinch though, it seems it's getting stopped quicker and quicker every year, to the point where in the "One" fights it's stopped immediately. Not sure what the point of that is.

I think what you are doing is very valuable. But even traditional Muay thai evolved from something else, it's a constant change, martial arts are a reflection of our society... For the best or for the worst.
I really like both modern and traditional Muay thai. But there is definitely this instantaneity culture and the injonction to get a finish or at least a full on war in every fight that I really don't like.
It's entertaining but it's kinda dumb also, we lose the refinement of old school MT.

I think Thailand Muay Thai did a pretty good job of ruining itself. The betting culture? The match fixing? The muted 1st, 2nd, and 5th round (well beyond the slower early rounds of The Golden Age)? Muay Thai was on the out in Thailand before ONE. It was largely being kept alive by an older generation and westerners. Thai youth are more interested in soccer these days.

Interesting my friend. I’ve only been in the community for 5 years. So, newish compared to the grand picture. I have had about 7 fights, having another in a couple weeks. This is an interesting topic! I learned in the USA because I was born here. I learned in a non traditional gym. I learned Muay Thai there. But traditional from the Thais. My trainers don’t necessarily care that much about preserving the traditional. We respect it if course. But it’s definitely muddied up with mma influence and other concepts. I’m always impressed by you and how you e had like 300 fights. I can’t fathom it. Haha 🤍
