    Everyone has so many experience with losing weight here. I just wanted to jump in and say, sleep is imperative. Many women don't sleep well after menopause. I am a retired nurse, 64 years old and avid yoga student and teacher. Food, exercise is great. Food elimination if it hurts you BUT slowing down, breathing, stretching and releasing tension are so helpful. Do what you need to do BUT please incorporate mindful practices. Yoga, massage, meditation and stretching. You are worth it ladies

    Bless your heart that you are comfortable enough to wear a bikini. I am 58 and I am a size 0 to a size 2 and I wouldn’t wear a bikini if my life depended on it. Things just don’t stay in the same place anymore. I had 3 sons and with each pregnancy I gained over 75 pounds so my stomach had so many stretch marks it’s crazy. One of my good girlfriends recently said to me why don’t you just get a tummy tuck, and I told her that I am not putting myself through that not mention the expense. I am 58 and a 1 piece bathing suit 🩱 is just what I will continue to wear.

    Look into Keto ! I'm 62 & have been doing it for 5 years as of this Summer. I am a retired dietitian & Keto is literally the opposite of everything I was taught in college AND reinforced by the medical establishment (there is a very good reason for this - it keeps you unhealthy & them rich) My weight & overall well-being have never been more stable. Take some time to study it first. While it may not be suitable for everybody it can be tweaked to meet your own needs, habits & tastes. As far as exercise goes all your body needs is regular movement. A simple 20-30 minute daily walk works wonders. All the luck to you !

Having said that, *Healthy Keto* *and* Intermittent Fasting *combined* work wonders when I'm strict & consistent! Most of the time I do OMAD (one meal a day.) My boobs have gotten quite large and it really makes me look big. I hate my body. 😢 I had thyroid cancer so it was completely removed almost 20 years ago. From 180 to 165 in 3 months and cholesterol down almost 150 points. Thyroid and menopause doesn’t help. Workouts to start soon.

    Dear Kimberly, I have been following you for some time and understand your frustration, no, it is not easy to loose weight. I have exactly your same problem, no matter what foods I cut from my diet, every time I step on the scale it is the same weight, and if I loose one or two pounds it goes back sooner than it took to loose them. I will be 64 next month. I was thin my entire life until I hit my 50's. I got very fluffy. I can lose weight but it sure doesn't come off like it used to and all my extra weight is in my belly area. When I do intermittent fasting I can shift the weight. But you know what? I'm really all about feeling well. I keep the carbs to a minimum and I haven't eaten dairy in years (I love dairy, but it doesn't love me) but I basically don't focus on this stuff anymore. I am happy to be alive (breast cancer 15 years ago) and I just can't waste the energy worrying about my weight. If I feel like I'm getting too fluffy I go OMAD for a while and I can keep it from getting out of control. I try to stay as positive as I can. You, Kimberly, always look fabulous!! I understand your desire to stay strong. I've seen people younger than me who have had hip, knee replacements already. I don't want to go there. So I get the desire to stay strong. Hi Kimberly, What has worked for me is counting calories. You have to be consistent and not ‘cheat.’ A few months of counting calories can make a huge difference in weight management. I have also started including a hearty soup in my meal choices. A huge Ceaser Salad with almond-coated chicken pieces and Ceaser dressing (small amount) is one of my favorites. The truth is you need to be disciplined and make good food choices. I have found this is even attainable even while eating out. Good luck with your weight loss program. I know the struggle.

    I hear you, I feel you! I am 67, a former fitness professional and diagnosed about 12 years ago with Hashimoto’s! I was so sick and had gained over 45 pounds with so many symptoms. I started reading everything and doing so much research on diets, medications, nutrition deficiencies and supplements! It literally became my job! A functional doctor was part of my healing journey! I appreciate and applaud your efforts in trying to find your way back to health and fitness and not giving up! I knew what to do from a fitness stand point…..focus on strength training with progressive overload and get some cardiovascular training like walking! Be consistent! Please let me gently correct a misunderstanding with respect to muscle weighing more than fat….not true!!! What I use to say to my clients…. 5 pounds of muscle is the same weight as 5 pounds of fat however, the difference is how 5 lbs of muscle looks on a body versus 5 lbs of fat….
    (Think of a 5 lbs dumbbell versus 5 lbs can of Crisco shortening….dense vs fluffy).
    Educating myself on Hashimoto’s and being my own medical advocate was essential to getting my health back!
    For me getting the right thyroid medication and dosage was very important to healing and diet also played a key role! I take a natural desiccated thyroid medication and follow an autoimmune paleo diet (AIP). There have been a few hiccups and setbacks like breast cancer and bilateral mastectomy however, the only way to go is forward!!!! You are smart, willing to learn and you will get there! I will be your biggest cheerleader!

      What supplements do you take to support thyroid function? Because of my diet, my philosophy, I can’t bring myself to take Armor though my doc says it’s much better than synthetics … I take DIM plus am on BHRT… like Kimberly says I thought I was doing all the right things…

    Glad you found the issue. I am turning 67, and at the age of 52, went through a similar situation. Was never heavy, but all of a sudden nothing I did helped. Was tired all the time, no motivation or energy. I knew to ask for a thyroid panel, since thyroid issues run in my family. I went to a GP, who then sent me to an endro. Both said nothing wrong with thyroid. I kept feeling worse as time went on, and adding pounds. Went to a few more doctors and had more labs done. Finally, after turning 58, went to functional doctor. Not only was I hypo, I had 3 nodules (she had my do x rays of thyroid), and have Hashimoto's. Come to find out the doctors prior went by TSH, and never tested or looked at the other levels. It took me a while to find the medication that helped. I am now on Armour, do low carb keto, no grains (due to celiac). I have since learned how to interpret my own lab results and know where I feel my best when it comes to Free T3 & free T4 levels. Most doctors treat by FSH, and ignore all the other signs. Good job finding the right experts to help you figure things out Kimberly. I too am on a weight loss journey and so far I have managed to lose 10lbs. I go to a fitness program 3 days a week so I’m gaining strength. I just turned 70 and just want to be the best I can do. But speaking of doctors, when I went for my checkup he referred me to an obesity doctor to start taking shots of some crap to lose 40 lbs. I refuse to take anything in my body that is the new rage. It did light a fire under me to wake up but I am determined to show him I can learn to change my habits and without weight loss medication. Here’s to loving exercise ☺️

I felt so good when i retired in 2018 and was in the gym. I was a power house. Now, since the shut down and getting lazy i have struggled to get back. Add in there one back surgery and facing another. I am maintianing but I feel so sluggish. I know the feeling of trying EVERYTHING. We have several holistic doctors here in Spring Hill. Great video Kimberly! You mentioned that you ate the "right" foods. However, one can gain weight or not lose weight despite eating healthy if they are in a calorie surplus. I ate whole foods, exercised and strength trained for over a year and my weight did not budge. I tried everything, including fasting, keto and giving up sugar. Only when I reduced my caloric intake each day by 20-25% did I finally see steady weight loss (fat loss). When I started logging my food each day, I was shocked to discover how many calories I was actually eating. I was under the impression that if I ate right and exercised that the weight would come off naturally. Eating healthy, of course, is the way to go, as well as strength training. However, a calorie deficit is still necessary to see the scale move in the right direction. Food for thought...No pun intended.. God Bless.

    Hi Kimberley you look amazing, your skin is glowing so you're doing something right!! Please give tips about giving up dairy successfully.
    The best tip someone gave me when I was 154lbs, eat healthy meals: breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and evening meal like a pauper no later than 6pm, if I hadn't eaten before 6pm I had to wait until breakfast the next day. I gradually lost weight until I was 112lbs, ideal weight for my 5'6" body.
    I believe the best way to be successful is stop going on diets, instead change ones lifestyle, stop eating and drinking junk, get your body healthy first then your mind will be healthy to make you more determined to do the things you want to do. Incidentally I'm in my 70s.
    It won't be a quick fix but a long lasting healthier life.

    • @MGSpecial2023
      @MGSpecial2023 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was there a typo for your ideal weight? Ideal weight for someone of your 5'6" height, assuming medium female build is approximately 160lbs. Unless you are a verypetite 5'-5'2" , 112lbs would be severely underweight.

    • @jovickers5313
      @jovickers5313 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MGSpecial2023 no typo, thank you for your concern. I'm even 7lbs lighter after my brother and Mum died within a month of each other. I'm therefore too thin at the moment but know those 7lbs will gradually return and be happy with that. Kimberley's bone structure is heavier than mine and that plays a roll. I was obese when 154lbs, now I'm a slim UK size 10 think that's a US size 6?
