  • Unequivocally our favourite restaurant in ALL of Penang. If you ask my mum, she would go so far as to say that Da Shu Xia Seafood House is the best restaurant in Penang, Malaysia!
Da Shu Xia Seafood House 海乾大树下海鲜饭店 is an eatery that only locals know about and which is smack bang in the middle of Georgetown. I am hesitant to actually share this video as I do not want this secret eatery to be discovered. However, thankfully I don't have enough followers or viewers for this to be an issue. LOL
We have been frequenting here for more years than I care to admit and have never had a bad dish. They are known for their seafood (at reasonably affordable rates by Australian standards) but they also have an extensive list of non-seafood dishes.
    Address:
177C, Victoria St, 10300 George Town, Penang, Malaysia

Based in Melbourne, Australia, I watch too much TV, eat and drink too much to be a productive member of society. I have an insatiable craving to taste, smell and enjoy everything life has in store for me.
I have been bitten by the wanderlust bug and find nothing more thrilling than packing my bag and jumping on a plane to any far flung destination.
A huge thanks for watching. Please subscribe, like and comment. Let us know how we can improve so we can continue producing engaging content.

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you ever visit Penang, please do yourself a favour and head here for dinner. What's your favourite Penang eatery?

Sorry but that poor fish flapping on the ice is just sick.

Gotta admit, there are days I look at my dry skin and miss humidity. But once I'm in the tropics, I can't wait to be back in OZ. Can't win. I absolutely love these Malaysian seafood restos. They are always so good... And CHEAP! The herbal tea is either called liang teh, or luohanguo. Man I miss those stuffed youtiao which seems to be served in only these seafood restos, we can't get it here in OZ. Or can we? That prawn looks like KamHeong! Uniquely Malaysia! Frog legs is 田鸡, which really means Ricefield chicken. I have never been able to taste petai, maybe its just me. Gosh, that sambal kangkong is a staple and my fave. I ALWAYS have it. You can get it at Laksa King in Glen Waverly.

That stuffed youtiou was the first time I've ever eaten it. Rather, it's the first time we've ordered it at that restaurant. Petai used to be SO bitter for me which is why I used to hate it. Now, the flavour has mellowed and I enjoy it more these days. Sambal kangkong is so readily available in any Malaysian restaurant in Melbourne but my Mum makes the absolute best! Obv I'm biased. haha

Sorry to say that after this video this restaurant will no longer be a secret. I would order everything except maybe the frogs legs.

I actually think you could be right. Two followers have already DM'd me and said they'll be going there when they visit Penang in April.

Hey Tim, I don't think I could pick that cute looking fish for my dinner either. Such yummy dishes, love kang kong vegetable but not with sambal. I like it with fermented bean curd.

Everything was really delicious. Which is why it's a family favourite. I know it's not good for the environment, but I would consider flying back to Penang just for a weekend to eat this again. hmm...maybe I should!
