That was beautiful! I remember back in the 60s and 70s my dad owned a Piper Aztec whe I was a teen and what great vacations witb the family we had from NY down to the islands. This wonderful video took me back to those days. Would have been nice in an Eclipse too!😊👍
I will just sit back and live my dream through your videos Cast Ron. Subscribed and if you're ever in the NYC area , would love to see the Eclipse. Thanks for doing the leg work on making the videos and sharing this awesome experience.
For those of you who are thinking about flying over Cuba, you have to purchase an overflight permit. The easiest way to do that is through Caribbean flying adventures.
@@MAGApepe if you don’t have the permit number in the remark section of your flight plan, the US ATC won’t allow you to continue. If you did continue, you would likely be intercepted by Cuba air defense and if you still wouldn’t comply to leave their airspace, you might get shot down.
Hi Ron. I’m just starting to look at an Eclipse and a Citation Mustang. Any recommendations for the Eclipse would be appreciated. No one I know has any info on them. Ps. Nice landing over the trees!! Nick
You can get a Mustang for a pretty good deal these days. It really comes down to one question. Are you buying an airplane for the people in the back or the pilots in the front. If you plan to fly it yourself and want comfort, the Eclipse is by far the best choice. The Mustang is more comfortable in the back. The operating cost will be between 50-100% more for the Mustang. The range and speed is higher in the Eclipse. Having the g1000 EFIS that the Mustang has is usually much easier to transition to since most pilots are used to flying behind a Garmin panel. The ISS EFIS is also very good though. Learning the ISS or AVIO panel is the hardest part of flying the Eclipse. It's not hard, but it's like learning a new language. Just takes some time.
Hey Ron. Thanks for the quick response. Probably the best advice I’ve gotten!! I actually bought the Cirrus based on that same theory. I bought it for me and not necessarily for the passengers, who never show up. Lol . With the business growing geographically the jet is becoming more a necessity for me. I’ll take a harder look at the Eclipse. Thanks again. Where are you based at? Best Nick
I've had a few people ask me why I didn't land on the centerline of the runway. A friend warned me that the center of the runway had a bunch of bad asphalt and debris, so I landed on the left side of the runway to avoided it but once I was on the ground I saw they had sealed it and wasn't an issue. The runway is quite bumpy, but the asphalt is in good condition. I'd much rather land from the East due to the terrain. There are no instrument approaches into this airport, and no weather reporting. The local authorities are working hard to expand the airport so they can accept major commercial flights. We were the only airplane at that airport the whole day. The day we left, there were 2 other airplanes picking up/dropping off passengers. A Cessna 208 and a Beech Baron.
You didn't taxy on the pilot guide lines, either. :) I did that once - empty ramp, so I took a short cut off the guide lines, and ended up with a nail in my tyre. There's a better chance that the taxy lines are clear of debris. :)
Hi Ron, great plane, quick question, on the eclipse the inspection are time and calendar base, wish is the biggest inspection, and ESP on the engine have a minimum per year or pay by the Hr
The biggest inspection is the 48 mo. Next is 24 mo then 12mo/300hr. The ESP program is now called the BEI program. P&W doesn’t maintain the program any longer. Aviall was contracted to do it a year or so ago then they were purchased by Boeing. The engine program is per hour.
Great video. Thank you. One question though. My biggest complaint about the Eclipse is that ugly yellow circle over the static ports. Yours are white. Looks fantastic. Did you do that? It makes the airplane look so much better not having two mustard stains on its nose. Thanks!!
The Icephobic Coating or patch that you see on a few of the Eclipse aircraft nose has been eliminated by an STC. Yes, the STC makes the aircraft look much better.

nice flight - an Eclipse is on my bucket list. My new company will enable me to buy one.
Love your videos
Nice landing hope you enjoy your stay in jamaica irie mon👍 👍 🇯🇲 ✈️
Very nice. Thanks for bringing us along.
Also naming the airport after greater of 007. How awesome is that. Next time que the James Bond theme. :)
Yes, from what I understand, Ian Fleming lived there for many years.

Love the post production call turning final; get it in there just in case someone complains.

so what would cuba do if you didnt ?
@@MAGApepe You wouldn’t be able to fly over Cuba. You’d have to fly around it.
@@n5es who would stop you ? cuba ?

Nice video Ron. The Eclipse is my favorite, keep the videos coming.
I have a bunch of raw footage from some other trips. Just takes a lot of time to put them together. I should have some more up soon
Any info. on fuel burn with 4 aboard + baggage. Time from Naples to Jamaica? Tks for a great video on an intriguing jet.
Total fuel burn was about 180gallons. Time was just under 2 hrs.
@@n5es Thanks.
I see you use JetShades. Looking into jumping into an Eclipse Jet myself this year.
Yes, the JetShades are great. Come to Naples and I'll take you for a demo flight.
I'm flying to KBCT tomorrow. Having dinner at Abe and Louies.

Nice video and thanks for the info on the Eclipse. What year is your plane and what software version does it run?
2008. Version 2.7.8 firmware. Considered 2.8 for version. I have upgraded to 2.9 since the video which includes synthetic vision.

That’s the beauty of this kind of runway. Not too much traffic and you’re able to access it in the Eclipse.

I'm working on putting together some other videos now. Next one will be to Key West.
How long was this flight?
Would have been about 1 hr 45min but with longer route was just under 2 hrs.
