- In todays episode we sit with Tony, Bradlee, and John over at Workhorse Performance home of some of the fastest GTR's In the Country. They breakdown the GTR platform and some of the similarities it has to the Ford Coyote platform. They also break down the Audi R8 platform as well and give us some pretty useful information for those who are looking to build an r8. They also discussed the most controversial race between 1stockf30 and their red GTR. This one was loaded with information and addresses all of what has never been heard before!

It’s like they stuck him in the corner. Probably the man behind all of it.

So moral of the story from the last 5 podcasts is NEVER race one stock and his boys, because they clearly cannot pay up
Black box was called g-force lol
Yeah I was planning on racing them guys once my car is built im only doing it for fun now that is sad. Same people we look up to in the car community always got something bad about em
Never street race NYC homies, they cry too much, it's always been that way
What happened is they got finessed. At first when you say something like "Ok, run it back." instead of getting your money it shows weakness. The other boys just said bet and kept up the nonsense until they left with the money. Even if they would loose 9/10 they can keep pushing it back until they win or the other guys car blows up. You gotta get the cams set up right and have no discrepancies. It does sound like a waste of time. Got hustled.
@@joshgross8741 workhorse was simply trying to race all the excuses out of one stock so they would get payed but one stock never plan to pay from the beginning. Finessed/robbed.
You need to get Jon Lund Jr or Alejandro flores on here to preach the gospel of correct coyote information.
Alejandro had a great interview
@@SanicGottaGoFast Alex did a 3 hour interview with him. It’s worth the watch.

Tukes, you are absolutely crushing it with these podcasts. Definitely my new favorite channel & I look forward to every episode. I’d love to see an episode with sheepy or UGR.
Agreed best Car Podcast Period
Please have Alejandro Flores and Jon Lund Jr on here to set the coyote and Ford record straight once and for all. Coyote copied GTR my ass 🤣 that dude hating hardcore 😂
Lund racing FTW!!!
That shit makes no sense
@mogulme6190 what makes no sense?
He was just joking
I support flores
Alex and Jon Lund JR would destroy these guys, don't do that to em 😂
So...skip Coyotes should just skip the S/Cs, and just get TTs. Comparing Coyotes to a GT-R is high praise. 👍
Ford has been doing overhead cam engines since 1996 which was usually reserved for their top performance models i.e Cobra & GT500. GTRs have been straight inline 6s until 2009. You can say they act similar when it comes to boost levels but copying? No sir. Ford just improved on what they have been doing for years. You really need interview someone from Lund Racing bro if you want to talk anything Coyote they hold the most records & have the most experience with that platform. Interview Alejandro Flores or John Lund Jr
Ford had dohc v8s before that, the ford gaa was 1100 cuin dohc v8 used in the sherman tank.
Gtr nut riders are a different breed lol
Facts, they need to interview Lund Sr who actually knows a thing or two about the coyote and just car shit
💯 % correct! These guys are either ignorant or are just running their mouths for the sake of running their mouths.
They also made a dohc v8 way back in 1963 for Indy car racing, it made about 750hp way back then.
At first I was like these dudes arrogant AF after watching the whole podcast they crack my up 😂 they killing the game. I liked this episode 💪
glad you enjoyed! 🙏
Team ru, they all need to run Danru
@StreetAlphaPodcast the black box on the dash was called g-force.. it told you force on launch 0-60 and quarter-mile. Looked like a speed detector kinda 😂
@@RobertoWare-z3ethere’s no point in running Dan rue. His gtr isnt anywhere near this level
Nope they are arrogant 😂
Saying that Ford copied the GT-R engine is kinda crazy.....especially since Ford proved that they could make a DOHC V8 that was capable of ridiculous power level through modification via the Terminator Cobra. When I lived in Texas back in 2002-2005, it was common to see 700-800HP Cobras (both Terminator and pre-Terminator) on the street racing Supras. The famous "Texas Outlaws" had a 600WHP minimum requirement in order to be a part of their crew. VVT was on the Lexus IS-F V8 also, which came out before the R35 GT-R....so Toyota copied them too?? LOL And that V8 was just as responsive to modifications as the Cobra was.....if anything, Ford followed Toyota's lead with VVT on DOHC V8's.........if you look at who was doing it first.....
Vvt has been around way before the ISF
@@chandlercameron9977what models?

these dudes can build some bad ass gtrs but to say the coyote is a copy of the GTR motor gotta be the craziest thing ive ever heard. The coyote engine was developed from the old 4v mod motors that been in ford cars for the past 30 years. Id even go as far as to say the coyote platform is superior. bone stock gen2 and gen3s will live all day long at 1000 wheel and a sleeved rod a piston motor is good for 2k plus. stock heads and cams
John Mihovetz prepped 4.6 4V has been 5.88 at 256mph with an almost entirely oe parts engine. The Modular is killer too
The V8 that the Nissan VR38 has the most in common with is actually McLarens M838T which itself is a derivative of the Nismo R390 GT1's VRH35Z which McLaren purchased under licence from Nismo.
Gtr is one of my dream cars, no offense but these guys are just being complete haters. Alex was right. Understand something, it doesn’t matter who copied who the fact is from a RACING perspective the coyote is superior. It costs less to supercharge/ turbo a coyote than a full AMS exhaust system for the gtr. It would effectively take a gtr 140k in (Including a car) to run a 7 second pass. Meanwhile there’s a guy out here running a 7 on a stock sealed engine and boost for less than half that price.
Wait , they said the coyote copied the r35 ? Ford has had overhead cams since 96 , they have the same designed since the 90s and just keeped improving them . Before the r35 what designed did they have before that .....inline 6 motors . And they need a motech to add ghost cams while the coyotes do it with stock ecu . Tx2k and other drag events has been dominated by coyotes for years .
🧢🧢
Exactly, mustang had the 4.6l motor in 96, but the 4.6 has existed since 1990/1991. It was a 20yr evolution from the first 4.6 to the coyote in 2011
Their evidence is comparing a dyno graph and seeing that DOHC heads have similar flow 😂
@@ozzypawsborneprinceofbarkness I wonder what they'd say when they see a K-series head flow and dyno graph lol
@slumygoat yeah big cappin yo more like for a Year lol
I would like to see them call out, frustrate, e.g., all-wheel-drive 😂
🙄🙄🙄🙄 they have to be some other civic that can step up, of the 1000s of civic only frustrate has to be the Honda guardian or Honda knight/savior . Kinda sad.
Miles maybe?
frustrate doesn't have the mph for the gtr
@@sajsed2 Speedfactory civic could give them the business
On the street 8th mile heads up make every foot count.
Compare a 4g63 head to a Coyote head. They are extremely similar.
Can't really say that a GTR copied a Coyote when Ford has been doing dohc motors back when Nissan was still messing with inline 6s.
Man Corbin Johnson has come a long way. I remember when he did Subaru tuning. Now he has a deal with Shelby and tunes gtrs. Love seeing the 350s and 500s outside of his shop. Amazing tuner
The early 90s modular DOHC was a 4.6l 300-320hp in the Lincoln town car and Lincoln coupe that was eventually used in the 96-02 cobra mustang except SVT version of that motor was hand built. Revved to 7,500 rpm I believe. The same relative powerband as the Early Coyote motor.
The modern GTR was a figment of the imagination when Ford started to release the modular 4.6 aluminum block DOHC which I BELIEVE the 5.0 Coyote is built in the same factory in Ontario as the old 4.6l from the early 90s.

That situation had absolutely nothing to do with race as in skin tone, as they said Bobby is a wild card, and like many men take no shit from no one. I’d ask so you’d allow someone to lock in with you, and when they have clearly lost, take the money and run, you’d be ok with that, I think not. Awesome podcast Tooks keep up the awesome work.

Beautiful conversation this was well put together shout out to the work horse dudes and everyone’s favorite host our boy tokes 💪🏽
I think what they mean when they said ford "copied" the GTR is the not the DOHC layout, but the main advantage that layout affords you - Twin, Independent Control of the Valve events (Ti-VCT). It's why the Coyote's respond so well to boost and why the can make so much power with stock cams. When you can control both independently, you can swing each cam the opposite direction - you can reduce overlap down low to gain torque, and add overlap in the mid-top for even more power.
Nissan has been using VCT since 1987, Ford didn't start until 2004. The Coyote DOES closely resemble how the Japanese build V8's - lower displacement, generally higher VE, Square or close to square bore/stroke, 4V per cylinder/DOHC, higher RPM focused power/torque etc.
Yeah...ford technology is far superior than Nissan. The thing that a mustang can do at its price point is unmatched.
Thanks for the breakdown🫡 didn’t know what they meant about that

Lots of cars used VCT, what makes them think the Coyote copied the GTR specifically?
Classic GTR guys know 0- talk everything trying to be 100 not understanding ford has been setting bars since before the 80s modular motors made in 2003+ " Terminator" example, coyotes can chop with lockouts.

Not factual. Coyotes are not a Vr38 copy .
But it has the exact same linear curve .
It has to be the same science 😂😂😂
No the coyote is based off of the 4v motor in the 03 cobra and Mach 1
Correct these guys a dumb. The coyote is still based off the modular engine design that ford has done forever
Only reason I’m watching is to try to learn dudes logic on this
@@potentpudz9311 so if you’ve watched the Alex episode from Lund if they have the same boost controller that curve gonna be similar because the boost is delivered similarly therefore making the power the same way I’m not an expert at all by any means but they also said gt350 with the coyote which was never in a gt350 the gt350 has always had the voodoo motor never a coyote

You notice that none of these GTR guys are calling out Nth Moto vipers or calvo vipers, just civics and bmw's. I wanna see a Nth Moto built viper vs one of these GTR's.

You aren’t wrong tho them vipers are different I rode in one once and I thought a McLaren was fast lol
Different tiers:
A Viper is a 2 seater super car. You don’t need to mod a Viper to run against an exotic car.
A GTR is a four seater tuner car. A GTR needs to be modded to compete with exotics.

Either platform is good. For a budget, the 5.0 coyote is the way to go for me. Got a 94 foxbody from a coworker, put a stock gen 3 460hp 5.0 with the 10spd. Timed the 0-60 at 3.3 seconds. That's without boost. Stock s550s do 3.9, so being about a 1k pounds less makes a difference. Boost, they can be 8 second cars easily in a 1/4.
you should link up with Midnight Performance or Pray performance next!
So are these like the only guys who have figured out how to dial in boost by gear and that’s what they’re talking about for the first 15 minutes of the podcast I figured that would be a no-brainer….
Best podcast yet from this show
I feel bad for the third guy, just spacing out bored 😂
Nah these is some upstanding gentlemen I need some yt friends like this 😂💯
The first DOHC v8 ford was in '96. Ford did their first cam-phased v8 (though not DOHC) in 2005. The coyote is an evolution of that engine program. In fact, the coyote still uses the exact same motor mounts which is why it's so easy to swap that motor in older fords. Skylines were still on i6s at that time. Not sure the whole "coyote copied the GTR" thing holds up if you know your fords well enough.
I see this guy in the middle talk and he just makes my day
I can understand the competitiveness and critiquing others' work, but would like people to remember one thing: We are all building off of someone else's work and someone else's knowledge who came before us. Whether it is designs that someone else thought of and created as a platform we use, or learning from mentors and friends. We wouldn't be shit. We'd be driving buggies or riding horses.without what we inherited and fell into. I respect what everyone is doing but a humble and hard-working attitude makes a person special.
Awesome video man, definitely would love to see some Lexus content! A good shop making good power!

I fw your message and yes you are right about a lot points and I used to think this, however a modern 1000cc bike is so fuckin unforgiving. And after owning one there’s not a chance I’d ever recommend one as a first bike. It’s an entirely different dynamic than driving a “fast car.” Mfs aren’t gonna want to hear this but sincerely buy something that’s suitable for your skill level. You’ll thank yourself for it in the end. You’re impeding on your development as a rider getting something 200hp+. Nothing wrong with 300s 650s 500s 400s 750s. They resale for great value. Easy to learn on. And can actually accelerate your development on a motorcycle period to get you on a 1000 quicker and be a more efficient rider. This throttle control talk is only a small part of riding. Nobody talks about how heavy these bikes are, what to do carrying too much speed into blind corners, how riding becomes more complex on a bigger bike etc. You don’t want to be that guy riding a 1000 in a group or around other bikers on a track and can’t handle it for shit because you never learned how to ride properly. Trust me. You’re putting your life at risk, other riders, and everyone around you.
