Under British East India Company rule, Mumbai flourished as a vital trading port and witnessed rapid growth in the 19th century with the development of railways and infrastructure. Post-independence, Mumbai became a cornerstone of India's economy and the epicenter of Bollywood.
The city's history is marked by urbanization, challenges of slum growth, and notable events like the 1993 and 2008 terrorist attacks. Mumbai continues to be a bustling metropolis, facing contemporary issues like traffic congestion and housing problems. Despite challenges, it remains a vibrant hub of culture, commerce, and entertainment, showcasing a unique blend of historical legacy and modern dynamism.

We are the East Indian People of Mumbai.
We are mainly in Farming and Fishing 🎣 business.
Our language is called East Indian.
Before the Portuguese came to the Island we didn't have any religion. We were just Adivasi's without religion.
When Portuguese came with East India company our ancestors started working for them.
Marriages took place between proteges and local people and we got the religion, Christianity.
After Proteges gone our culture remains as East Indian Culture .
Bottom Line
We East Indians are original natives of Bombay.
We were not converted to Christianity from any religion because we didn't had one.
Cut to today.
The Costal line of Mumbai is full of we East Indians.
You can find all old mud houses of our ancestors on Colaba, Worli, Bandra, Juhu, Versova, Madh Island and whole villages like Manori, Gorai, Culvem, Uttan and the whole of Vasai.
There was also an East Indian freedom fighter Kaka Batista.
Whom are u lying to?
Just look at the customs and traditions still followed by some East Indian communities and u will know whom were u converted from.
That keeping aside, the present reality is what it is but, denying or simplifying history is not what a sane and well informed mind should do.
