  • How many different types of weather can you encounter over the course of a week at sea? We experience quite a few in the North Pacific, from flat glassy calm, to blustery and choppy with mist, fog, sun and everything in between. We also go on a fishing streak, hauling in lots of albacore to keep us fed and happy!

If I recall correctly that type is the new super Panamax type because it’s the maximum size that can fit in the new larger Panama Canal locks.

At some point you might want to consider getting one of those weighted throw nets. Would have been great for catching some of those squid and for bait fish.

Hey, that grub looked good!!! You guy's, and Varuna, are old salts now. Crossing most the Pacific twice, on two different boats.

Not sure what wind vane you have, but my Cape Horn adapted really well to a tiller pilot. It steers the pendulum instead of the wind vane and let's the steering paddle do all the work so it doesn't eat away at your batteries

So whats your autopilot and roughly what do you expect it consumes, in whatever way you are figuring it out...?
Probably your last sail on her, hope you are enjoying it ..

Yes, that blood really got my attention too! Should have realized that you had brought a fish onboard. Kind of looked wet all around you and that makes for quite an uncomfortable environment. I remember that feeling so well from my youth when Dad & Mom sailed us over to Catalina Island many times. That night time dew seemed to come out of no where and everything was soaking wet. Nothing like crawling into a damp sleeping bag to make you feel all comfy! NOT!

I am guessing you swapped out the watermaker to your other boat right??

Guys, do you freeze the fish before eating it raw?

I would never do a crossing without full fuel tanks and lots of extra

Are you selling Varuna? Somehow I missed the reason for leaving your west coast adventure to sail to Hawaii and then Washington State twice.... Varuna is set up nicely and I am interested in her if she's for sale.

Hi Malama, our reasoning was to have two boats in one place while we refit one and sold the other. To answer your questions, yes Varuna is for sale adventureadrift.com/varuna-for-sale/ and the price is negotiable. Cheers.
