Exactly what is going on with my 150 hp Yamaha 2013. I bought it 3 years ago used on a Trophy and wanted to replace lower unit seals and upper seals along with water pump and shift shaft seals. I was thinking heat but grinding and crushing seems like the way to go eh?!! Ha thanks for the great information. Johnne in Clallam Bay WA
I think I tried heat. Problem is when using heat the shaft and key will heat and expand at the same rate. The grinding and crushing is something that I read about and it was a game changer. Next time I would tap the key with a chisel, then go directly to grind and crush!
