@@r.dragon3763the handle design is because of a (very stupid for a car) focus om minimalism. [The handles themselves are painted black to absorb sunlight and weaken any ice so all you really need is an ice scraper or your fist]

I might be overthinking, but there is literally no reason not to install usual mechanical door handles and make life of the car's owner easier, than a strong willing to make him/her suffer. Especially in the cold weather.

I inspect teslas for a living and i can say the expreienced one is gonna make the door handle area full of scratches and the psychopathis going to keep the paint clean and nice. Just a fact.
I mean, does that mean it's wrong? Once I noticed that almost every car has scratches from nails/jewelry/keys, now I can't unsee it. Most people probably don't care about little scratches if it's more convenient most of the time.

So the simple act of putting the thumb on the wide part and the handle popping into one's palm doesn't seem to me to be an issue.

There is. Flush door handles reduce drag and that's why most electric cars use them.
If it's cold enough wherever/ whenever to potientially freeze the door handles all u do is schedule it to defrost itself (faster than ice cars btw)
