This was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid back in the late 60s. I still get a kick out of watching it on DVD. It remained my favorite until THE WACKY RACES came out in '68.
Thanks for the episode, total good. A question - when the cartoon finishes, the story is presented again. After the explosion - who is the man outside the cave, witnessing the cave closing? In 20: 17 position.
For those who (like me) are occasionally required to view the Antenna channel, you hear either one of two male voice actors: Ted Knight and Pat Harrington Jr. And, quite oddly, that's a treat. It must've been one to view them in front of the mic. I wonder who voiced Gertrude?
"JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH" (1967) was the first of three animated cartoon series that Filmation Associates produced in association with 20th Century Fox Television and The ABC Network in the 1960s (the other two was "FANTASTIC VOYAGE" (1968) and "THE HARDY BOYS" (1969), and featured the voices of Ted Knight ("THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW") and Pat Harrington, Jr ("ONE DAY AT A TIME"), and Jane Webb. Ted Knight and Pat Harrington, Jr. were also involved with in CBS's "THE SUPERMAN-AQUAMAN HOUR OF ADVENTURE" that Filmation Associates produced for NPP-TV (National Periodical Publications TV), and an unaired Filmation cartoon pilot called "DICK DIGIT"-also in 1967.

Ted Knight narrated
I hear it now. Lol. Whenever I hear Ted Knight I always think of Caddyshack.
Uncle Oliver looks like old Bruce Wayne and Lars looks like the ugly version of Aquaman.
And don't forget about the kid. He looks like Aqualad
