I really do not think the 'boom' you mentioned in the first few seconds would have been the cannon at the Martello Tower. This is a 32 pounder on loan from Portsmouth Corporation and hasn't been fired in the last century. The high-angled wall you mention @ 3.50 or so has nothing to do with the military and is actually the garden wall of Cliff Cottage which became Splash Point Hotel.

The red brick ruins was a Hotel! Though the cliff were used for training grounds in the war.
