Kedah is one of the oldest state/government in Malaysia, as early as 110AD. The ancient settlement found at Merbok River, now known as Sungai Batu in the Bujang Valley/Lembah Bujang.
Pekan Rabu sells many Kedah traditional attire, handcraft and food. Some of famous food in Kedah are Laksa Kedah, Nasi Daging, Nasi Lemak Royal and Bihun sup utara. You may try it

14:10 Masjid Zahir, the current building was built in 1912, replacing the old one, but the mosque has been around since the establishment of the city in 1735. The area was a part of a grand palace of Kedah called the Istana Kota Setar, but unfortunately, parts of the palace was destroyed during wars in 1771 and 1821 and even demolished to make way for developments of the city.

Pekan Rabu is a traditional building that is known for selling traditional crafts and food. The building that you saw is the newest version. The place that you went to drink coffee is called Pekan Cina and next to it is Pekan Melayu.

    Alhamdulillah ....
Actually I'm from Alor Setar.Nice review! and we are very happy that you love Alor Setar vibes, people and old buildings that have been preserved here.
We are diversity, even in Alor Setar we have Pekan Cina and Pekan Melayu.Pekan means Town.Besides Malay, Chinese and Indian people,Kedah also have Thai Race/Siamese (people) and they are Malaysian.Special street we called Lorong Sempit used to be famous for the vendor that selling cheaper products.Pekan Rabu famous for its local products/delicacy .
Kedah is known as Negeri Jelapang Padi or Kedah Darulaman.
Kedah also famous for its Pulau Langkawi.
Gunung Jerai also is the best place to visit.
    Kedah Sultanate
according to Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa or the Kedah Annals, Kedah was founded by a Hindu king named Merong Mahawangsa. According to the text further, the Sultanate of Kedah started in 1136 when King Phra Ong Mahawangsa converted to Islam and adopted the name Sultan Mudzafar Shah.
Thank you very much for visiting Kedah.❤
    عيد ميلاد سعيد

Fun Fact 1 : The Royal Family of Kedah is one of the oldest royal families in the world.
Fun Fact 2 : The Bujang Valley-Sungai Batu Civilization in Kedah is the oldest civilization in the entire South-East Asian region having been established in 788 BC making it older than Angkor Wat and Borobudur. As a matter of fact, it is OLDER than the Mayan civilization and the Inca-Aztex civilizations.

Honestly, as a Malaysian, nobody wakes up one day and thinks “oh it’s a good day to visit Kedah.” Except for Langkawi there’s not much going on, it’s pretty calm throughout and not very touristy. There’s a ton of reasons to go to Penang or Kelantan or Terengganu or Johor, but Kedah, hm. The tourism board should do something.

Kedah has fair share of trial and tribulation.
In 1821 Siam( now Thailand) invaded Kedah. Due to treachery of one pretender to the throne, Kedah was invaded.
      But

    • @shamshulanuar7718
      @shamshulanuar7718 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

However the Sultan managed to get back the state in 1842.
A more tragic event took place in 1909.
Anglo- Siam Treaty resulted that Kedah lost district of Setul and chains of islands ( Turatoe) to Siam
Typical of colonialism, British just gave away Kedah territory to Siam.
The neighbouring state( Perlis) too lost territory, namely Pulau Brasmana( island of brasmana)

I thought American people are so into the fork n knife. Even we Malaysians use fork on the left hand as the helper for spoon on the right hand. It's no no knife for every food we had. Even me myself more comfortable using spoon n fork when eating western food.

Shockingly less visited AS have about 600K visitors in 2022 and 700K in 2023.
I wonder what the author's definition of less visited cities in Malaysia comes from?
Don't tell me MOTC. Since MOTC highly don't recommend anyone to visit Perlis, Kedah (including Langkawi), Terengganu and Kelantan. It's a normal boycott under the Federal Oppression for any states that is under Opposition Party.
Heck Opposition Party Chief Minister aka MB cannot even attend any school functions under Ministry of Education in their own state.
However the head of the state opposition party and members are welcome to do anything in MOE or Federation school or Higher Learning.
Pure Evil Wording to derail Visit AS 2024 and Visit Kedah 2025 initiative by Kedah State Government and Kedah Menteri Besar.
MOTC surely love you and thank you for your evil wording.
The price Kedahan needs to pay for voting opposition party in State and Federal Election.
