Look at Richmond. They were a self-entitled bunch and had to change their team culture. Essendon, like Carlton, have to stop re-playing the video of their golden era in their heads.

Well, at least Brad Scott is clearly frustrated and angry. That might be a very late start. When he gets to the level of angry and frustrated that we all are, maybe he'll transfer this effort and intent to the post match review with the players. Rather than just in his media conference.

Nothing to do with age, players of all ages have been pathetic. The more we look for dumb excuses like a couple of selection issues compared to the real issue of no mental toughness, no fight, no desire then the more we will get exactly what we have had for the last decade
@bernierossi8062 it's a culture issue at this point. The club has been mediocre for so long that they actively self-sabotage their season. I don't think this year it's Brad's fault entirely, but it's his duty to wake them the fk up and out of this culture.

The example they set, backed up by the club hierarchy’s own comments was, if you are not 100% sure you can win the battle, don’t waste your time and effort fighting it, Guess what, the players were listening
@@bromobile0768 Yeah I agree, huge culture issue down there. You can tell they aren't enjoying the game regardless of wins or losses, and this emotion trickles down to the fans. Everyone both players and fans are anxious every game, as we are consistently inconsistent. Nothings been convicning this season, we've won by close margins or lost by a huge defecit. If you look at other teams, even bottom 4, they can do wild glory shots and scoore, they have fun and they back each other. Euphoria really can drive momentum. Essendon on the other hand, forget the trick shots, they're super anxious, they play elite level footy in patches and they cant even kick straight 15 meters out set shot.
Finally Scott is getting angry with the group, which will result in big changes to the selected team and list going forward.
Also, Essendon supporters saw this coming for at least 6 weeks. St Kilda essentially kicked a goal every second time they went into their forward 50, which is unheard of. finally, apparently Scott gave the playing group a (well deserved) bake during the week, which supposedly put some noses out of joint. Interesting times ahead!

It seems to me that the team has completely gotten rid of run and carry in favour of possession control. That has led to the guys refusing to run the ball and when there is no target, they look unsure and often wait for options which means opposition can set up defence easily. It’s a major issue I think.
That and of course Wright and Langford looking like they belong in the Auskick at half time.

Went to the game and lasted 2 and a bit qtrs, The lack of intent was evident from minute 1. As usual we kick the first few goals and then sit back and wait for the other team to catch up. I'd say thats been the case for 10 games this year. This club has had that culture for as long as I can remember.
Essendon are the masters of sideways football - if the goals were placed on the wings we'd look way better!
Brad has said at just about every press conference that we've improved - really! I like to know what his measures are???
The time has come to do what should have been done in the first half of the season.Drop the players who don't run hard and fail to apply pressure.Stop recycling the same names and give players who are performing in the VFL an opportunity.

No leaders at our footy club. There's Zachy and that's it. Your leaders are your 100-200+ game players. Tell me, out of ours, who else there is a leader? Don't tell me Pidge or I'll spew up. They need to throw out the GPS stats and get in some sports psychologists. Find those with winning mindsets, work ethic, footy I.Q. and leadership qualities.
Off the field, it's probably worse. Dodoro still around the club. Brad plays his Cadbury favourites and can't seem to motivate the team otherwise.
We're cooked. Play the kids and get serious about the dead wood the end of the season.
You’re 100% correct, there has been a lack of real leadership at Essendon ever since Sheeds left. We are a team of individuals, and no one person is going to win the game, it requires teamwork, and teamwork requires good leadership. We could have easily smacked the Saints if we had our leadership and teamwork on point. Another season going down the drain.

The problem is the tail is wagging the dog (ie the players), and when it gets to the point where the team needs to dig deep, instead the players throw all of their toys out of the cot cause they don't like taking responsibility.
Also, the list is really poor, with many holes, and lots of players have dropped away diabolically badly.
Same response every match. Players not sticking to process. Has Brad given any thought to whether the coaching process or game plan might be the problem. The St Kilda players and Adelaide last week were very clear on how to play to beat Essendon in interviews after the matches, and it worked. How about adapting the plan to the prevailing situation? The Essendon game plan works sometimes and almost as often fails catastrophically.

The most concerning things for me is the lack of contest effort, and just how easy the bombers are to transition through. I’m 28 and for as long as I’ve been watching they’re consistently easy to score against and abysmal and defending the ground.
Sack the Coach . Been as high as 2nd, 3rd & 4th & yet we fall of the Cliff yet again . What is it 6 losses in 8 or 9 games .

We've got one in Nick Bryan who for whatever reason isn't getting much game time.
@@taliamason7986 needs to bulk a bit though. Someone of a David Hille type build that can control stoppages and more importantly take some big grabs forward or back. Draper is more of a centre half forward part time ruck imo. Make him a permanent centre half forward and hone his skills there, he could be dominant there as he moves well but also takes a strong grab. Get him working on the lead and he’s a problem for most sides,, Rucks have been an issue for a while now..

Im not a Dons supporter but they look like a much better team under Scott. He made them competitive again. They were great for half a season, then dropped a few games, but thats happening with nearly all teams. They have more wins than losses.

I said it before and history has showed it, Bombers should've folded after the saga. There was just no coming back from that. Is evident in that essendon only get dud players and coaches; anyone any good wouldn't want to go there with that history that can't be erased. Only a few current players like Langford and Merrit maybe draper would even get a game at another club.

I’m red in one eye black in the other. I felt we could make the 8 and put my money down to find out. 13 wins is required no less. After our good start to the season and as recently as last week some of these so called experts in the media had us winning a final. How can you win a final when you haven’t made the finals? Games don’t just get gifted in the AFL you have to win and earn the 4 points. I would like to see Brad really read these lads the riot act. It’s all on the line and our players are still soft in the head and contest. I don’t care about my money one iota. The players completely got ahead of themselves and it’s looked like that for 2 months. Probably listening to the dribblers in the media and them winning a final when we hadn’t done the work to make the 8. 😉🇦🇺👊

If Brad Scott doesn’t have the answer in the media conference maybe it’s time to give the senior coach position to someone who can unite the team. This was clearly a lack of teamwork and the ability to link up. His line up all year has been nothing but experimental with very little confidence to dominate the field. We need a strong line up each week with players who know their position despite who their opponents are.
Can't keep changing Coaches. The club has done that more than enough times for nearly 20 years now. Just gotta learn to stick with someone and actually let them get through the very worst periods so the club can actually grow stronger on the other side going forward into the future. Man United (who are in a very similar situation)seem to be finally doing it having recently retained Ten Hag who was touted to be sacked everyone and their dog in the British media for the last 6 months. Now the club needs to do the same and if Brad Scott doesn't end up been the chosen one then so be it. At least he would have put out the fire and laid some great foundations for his successor to build upon.

Brad Scott never had a great list at that club for those 9 years. He more or less overachieved for most of that time especially in 2014 and 2015. Nobody at that time would have done any better.
