The press is worthy investment to make these for a big family with kids! They honestly argue over who gets to help make them! 😅 And the pressing gets them evenly flat in seconds! We’ve been making traditional tortillas just to avoid canola oil, but we need to try your sourdough version next!
Excellent video, thank you! I especially liked how you showed the tortillas at the end and folded them up. I will definitely be making these this week!
I just made sourdough tortilla the other night from another recipe but next time this will be the one I'll use. They look a lot fluffier and soft! Yum! Thank you Ash!
Hi, great video - thanks :) I've been making tortilla's for many years and just recently purchased a tortilla press (as I have a problem with one of my hands), and Oh my what a great help in saving time. I still have to do a little tolling to stretch it more, but the press works great to get it to that saucer size quickly. Just thought I would add this little comment. ~ Linda
Made them yesterday. Wonderful taste! Soft! But when I stored them in a large freezer ziplock bag in the refrigerator (after they had completely cooled, of course), this morning they were hard and dry. Any suggestions?
BEST tortilla recipe! I am curious if there are health benefits to using ghee over regular butter? I think you’ve mentioned it somewhere before but I don’t remember
@@turnerfarm thanks! I tried these yesterday and did about a 16 hour ferment. The taste was great but they didn’t turn out and i think it was because the method I used. Instead of rolling one and cooking it, I rolled them all at once and placed a parchment between each. They stuck really bad and the shape was horrible lol. I think the gluten become just too relaxed to do it. I’m going to try again and use roll and cook each individually.

Anxious to try this.
Have you tried with freshly milled flour?
@@cargold7597 it just doesn't stretch or bubble as much so they tend to cook harder.
Thanks so much for sharing! :) Excited to try them!
you're welcome :)
Thank you
Is the 24 hour fermentation you did on the counter or in the fridge? OR a bit of both?
counter!
What about natural( not store-bought) lard? Have you used that?

How do you make the actual sour dough please?

Looks yummy! Thanks! First sourdough tortilla recipe I have seen. You don’t say how high of heat to use. Medium?
yes medium works. it seems to be different for every stove so just play with it :)

Ghee is lactose free; if dairy/lactose is a concern for you
@@PageToo exactly!
When you cover the dough initially, is the cloth wet? or how do you prevent it from drying out?
nice recipe, just what I was looking for :)
@@4ngelo_ I use a wax cloth!
Where did you get your bowl covers?
Do you let these ferment on the counter or in the fridge?
Counter!
Do you recommend to ferment the dough on the counter or in the fridge?
