    All 5 points are solid! 😊 Plus, maybe I missed it, but probably my favorite biblical scholar from whom I've learned so much most often uses and recommends the NIV - Don Carson. In fact, Carson is the general editor for the NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible, which is one of my favorite study Bibles. 😊

    Billy Graham said that wrestling with translations about which one is "better" is a fruitless controversy. I appreciate what you said and how you said it in this video. Thanks.

      Pastor Billy Graham preached where Buddhism Hinduism and many other religions can believe whatever they want to believe and they can still make it to heaven it's online dude. He also preached what people call Free Will choice which is no more found in the Bible in fact Jesus spoke against it in Matthew 7 21 23 do your studying in fact read what I'm sending you now about the NIV God bless you
      Why Would Anyone Use The NIV?
      If you are using the NIV after reading this article to the end, then you are truly blinded by Satan. Peter admits that some Scriptures are hard to understand. The King James version Bible began in 1604 and was completed in 1611, but in the year 1978 the full version of the NIV BOOK was released. The “NIV” stands for “Non Inspired Version”! The people who put the NIV together were not led by the Holy Spirit. As the prophets who wrote the scriptures of the KJV were.
      Read 2nd Timothy 3:16 Look for yourself. They state that they wanted to publish a new Bible that WOULD NOT 🚫 OFFEND ANY PARTICULAR RELIGIOUS GROUP. So they got many people together to COMPROMISE the Word of God, and published a PERVERTED Bible that SATISFIED MANY PEOPLE'S FLESHY OPINIONS. Their main purpose was not to be non-offensive to all religious denominations which is WIDELY MARKETABLE.
      God makes His children to be UNITED by TRUTH, rather than to be divided by error. (2nd Corinthians 6:14-17). The Word of God magnifies TRUTH; whereas, the DEVIL 👿 crowd magnifies LIES and FALSE RELIGIONS which are 100% HERESY.
      And if you have trouble understanding it, go to Play store and download either NKJV audio or NLT audio but go back to your Bible to understand what it's saying, AS IT HELPS YOU GROW.
      Something's Missing! So what's wrong with the NIV? In a word... EVERYTHING! Do you have any IDEA how many things WERE CHANGED? Hundreds of words, phrases, verses and even the ENTIRE BIBLE. Whereas the King James Bible are mentioned all the words in FULL COMPLETION,
      Revelation
      22:18-19 KJV
      18 FOR I TESTIFY UNTO EVERY MAN THAT HEARS THE WORDS OF THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK, IF ANY MAN SHALL ADD UNTO THESE THINGS, GOD SHALL ADD UNTO HIM THE PLAGUES THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK: 19 AND IF ANY MAN SHALL TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THIS PROPHECY, GOD SHALL TAKE AWAY HIS PART OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE, AND OUT OF THE HOLY CITY, AND FROM THE THINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK.
      Words removed from the NIV.
      GODHEAD - Acts 17:29 Romans 1:20 Colossians 2:9 JEHOVAH - Exodus 6:3 Psalms 83:18 Isaiah 12:2-26:4 JEHOVAH-JIREH - Genesis 22:14 JEHOVAH-NISSI - Exodus 17:15
      JEHOVAH-SHALOM - Judges 6:24 COMFORTER - John 14:16-14:26-15:26-16-7 HOLY GHOST - is removed from 89 verses and is ONLY located in 1 verse in the NIV REGENERATION - Matthew 19:28 Titus 3:5 MERCYSEAT - Hebrews 9:5 CALVARY - Luke 23:33 REMISSION - Matthew 26:28 Mark 1:4 Luke 1:77-3:3-24:47 Acts 2:38 -10:43 Romans 3:25 Hebrews 9:22-10:18 QUICKENED - Psalms 119:50-119:93 1 Corinthians 15:36 Ephesians 2:1-2:5 Colossians 2:13 1 Peter 3:18 INFALLIBLE - Acts 1:3 IMMUTABLE - Hebrews 6:18 PROPITIATION - Romans 3:25 1 John 2:2-4:10 OMNIPOTENT - Revelation 19:6
      One of the most blasphemous omissions in the NIV is in John 3:16 where Jesus is no longer proclaimed as the “only BEGOTTEN Son of God.” Yes, that's right, the NIV removed the word "BEGOTTEN" from John 3:16. How in the name of TRUTH and JUSTICE could any professed Christian use the NIV? I'd burn every NIV I could find. Then exchange them with BRAND NEW KJV Bibles'' There are also 15 verses that has been REMOVED from the NIV which you do find in the King James Version bible, and that is: Matthew 17:21 - 18:11 - 23:14 Mark 7:16 - 9:44 - 9:46 - 11:26 - 15:28 -- 16:9-20 Luke 17:36 - 23:17 John 5:4 Acts 8:37 - 15:34 - 24:7 - 28:29 The NIV removed 64,576 words as compared to the KJV! Words are VERY IMPORTANT! God put “EVERY WORD” there for a reason, so we could LIVE by them! Matthew 4:4, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread ALONE, >>>BUT FROM EVERY WORD THAT PROCEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.

      @@joyfuljeff9128The reason I read the NIV is because it is far more accurate than the KJV. Far stronger on the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit than the KJV. Not that KJV idolaters like you care about truth.

    It upsets me that the NIV gets such a bad rep. It was my main translation when I started reading the Bible for the first time. I didn't even know very much about different translations I just pickup what looked like a good Bible at Walmart for a good price and a few months later I was saved. It was later when I started attending church that fellow brothers and sisters where telling me that my Bible was no bueno. How could a no good Bible lead me to Jesus and salvation? It's wrong and people shouldn't say things like that.

      @JP 86 you say what about the Bibles that came before KJV? You need to do your studying because there was the Jewish Bible but at the same time there was also the KJV for other people who were not Jewish in a different language, you know like, ENGLISH!!!!

      @JP 86I KNOW THIS IS LONG BUT PLEASE READ IT TO THE END FOR YOUR SAKE. GBU
      AS A BROTHER IN CHRIST I LOVE YOU MY FRIEND AND I WISH YOU A WONDERFUL HAPPY NEW YEAR IN 2023
      I understand what you're saying 100% And I agree with you almost in everything because all the other versions NLT, ESV etc those versions was not written by satanists but the NIV was and you want to talk about being ignorant about something I really would appreciate it if you would just read what I posted about the NIV. When people take God's word, and changes the main words from it as changes the meaning of the verses and turns it into something that is not the true gospel, THEN IT BECOMES HERESY OR FALSE TEACHING. The NIV teaches that women can preach in the church when they are to be silent in the church first Corinthians 14:34 and 1 Timothy 2:11. It has to be exactly what God says and it can't change the meaning of it bro. The living translation is good to break it down but you go back to the KJV...
      I only made it to 7th grade in School but I know the Bible by the back of my hand and I'm about to be a pastor because the HOLY SPIRIT put the scriptures in my heart ❤️ and I'm not memorizing versus in the flesh like a lot of people do and believe in Free Will choice which is 100% heresy also God did not give Adam and Eve a free will choice to choose because God made Lucifer and lifted him up with HIS own Holiness until iniquity was found in him. Then he was cast out to the ground which weak in the Nations Isaiah 14:12. You need to know the scriptures bro.
      The reason why is so that we can know Good and EVIL Genesis 3:22 and through the Cross of Jesus we become sons and daughters of God in Romans 8:29. Because we were PRE-destinated BEFORE the WORLD 🌎 BEGAN. Ephesians 1:4 and 5 or Matthew 25:34 or John 17:6 or John 17:24 Ephesians 1:11 1st Corinthians 2:7 2nd Thessalonians 2:17 2nd Timothy 1:9 Titus 1 2 first Peter 1:20 The Cross Revelation 13:8 The Lost Revelation 17:8 AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE VERSES WERE PREDESTINATED BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN SO THIS FREE WILL CHOICE WHICH IS NOWHERE FOUND IN THE BIBLE IN FACT JESUS SPOKE AGAINST IT IN MATTHEW 7:21 TO 23 AND ALSO THE SECOND PETER 2 9 10 AND TITUS 1 7-8
      That's the difference between Calvinism and arminianism. Calvinism means PRE-destination or PRE-destinated, but armenianism which is not biblical at all means Free Will choice it's up to you to make your own choices well then you don't have the holy Ghost bro as Jesus said depart from me you that work iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU.
      SO WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE DUDE?
      As for me, I realize that God is God and I am not and HIS marvelous light shine upon me and my eyes WERE OPENED to the TRUTH and I thank HIM for that. And NOW I SEE. I did not make a choice to SAVE MYSELF or to LET GOD come into my HEART ❤️ like arminians believe.
      Anyways, this is the smaller version about the NIV and please read it for your own sake. Gbu

    LOVE this video!!! I'm like you because the NIV has moved into a mainstay translation for me but I also use the KJV for study (mostly because it's the one my pastor preaches from). I have a hard time understanding many verses in the KJV especially the Old Testament and the NIV brings it all up to date and makes it understandable to me upon first read which helps me stay in The Word. I am also a fan of the NASB 1995 which the pianist at my church recommended to me. But NIV is my main translation ever since I bought it at Walmart

@@joyfuljeff9128Anything from David J Stewart is totally untrustworthy. That is true of the whole KJV only cult. Meanwhile God is using and blessing the NIV to bring many to Christ. Why because it is a faithful translation. Stronger on the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit than the KJV. The KJV an imperfect uninspired translation translated from manuscripts dedicated to the Pope. Many added uninspired verses that were not part of inspired scripture. Mistranslations like Easter instead of Passover. Nothing perfect about the KJV at all.

    I use the NIV and KJV in my studies, and I totally agree that we should never be discouraging someone from reading the Bible because of some criticism of a translation, so long as the reader is getting a truthful understanding of the big picture. Goodness, people even get irked about minor changes in spelling from 1611 to 2020, as if God's word would be overpowered by something so small. The only thing I would disagree with is the idea that the KJV is wooden. As someone who studies Shakespeare and dwells more and more within that lexicon, the King James version is not wooden at all, but very passionate, even more so than the modern translations can express because poetry and metaphor is largely missing in the way we speak and think today, which I is a sad thing but also simply part of the ongoing cultural degeneration. The KJV used to be the only version, the common man's Bible, in the same way we think of the NIV today. It was the word people of all ages would read and was even taught in schools, so we should never think of it as being too difficult to understand and thereby limit people's capabilities. Point being, in the same way Shakespeare has become difficult for a majority of the population to understand (whereas less than a hundred years ago it was common for households to have volumes of Shakespeare's complete works), so has the King James translation become foreign to us -- not because we are incapable, but because literacy levels have fallen (active cultural decay) and of course the language has shifted. For me, I never could have begun to seriously tackle the KJV without having been able to fully read through the NLT of the Bible first. Having accomplished that, more and more I increased the level of difficulty in the same way someone would dig for gold to find more precious treasure. The beautiful part was being able to make those discoveries on my own without pressure or expectation. Had I been forced to one translation and one only, it would have been a very different experience. So yeah! Making sure people understand first is primary! THEN encouraging them to deepen that understanding comes next. Demeaning anyone because of the translation they read is a disastrous plan.

    Great video, 1 thing you might not have come across re this debate. I've been doing cults like JWs and Mormons etc etc for 38 years. They will insist on the KJV only (JWs) an exception. However most of the problems associated with the KJV re its rendering of words basically caused a lot of these cults coming into existence. The NIV and many other translations fixed these lousy renderings. I love the KJV for its poetic language but it's very hard to convince a cult member when the KJV translates a word a certain way, they get stuck on it and won't acknowledge the more accurate NIV NASB ESV NET etc. Thank you for a great presentation, and I wish the KJV only would use the brain the Yahweh gave them and praise the work these wonderful translators have done and the thousands of hours of work (Pro Bono) they have volunteered .

    Great video, as usual sir.
    I have respect for the NIV and use it often. But I understand the criticisms from some who claim bias creeps in where a translator is concerned with "explaining" instead of translating. I'll give one example:
    "For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are NOW dead..." (1 Pet 4:6) The word "now" is not in the Greek. The NIV translators (based on their own words, not my opinion) inserted the word because they rejected the possibility that the spirits of the dead could be in a place of waiting, or purification, as the Jewish and later Christian church universally taught until the 1500s.
    Is it the translator's job to eliminate theological difficulties by adding or subtracting words? Isn't that what Luther did with his first German translation of Romans, in which he inserted "alone" at Rom 3:28?
    Something to think about, right?
    Peace.

      This is actually why we need to use multiple translations… All translations supply words.

    • @douglasj2254
      @douglasj2254 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CaseyFleetMedia You are right about that. But my point was, there is a difference between supplying an English word to make sense of a sentence (which all translations do) and adding a word because you don't like the very clear implication of a verse.
      Adding "endures" to "His mercy forever" brings us "His mercy ENDURES forever." Even if there is no "endures" in the Hebrew, the meaning is not changed, and the English sentence sounds much better. That's not the same thing as what went on with the verse I shared earlier (1 Pet 4:6). The NASB does the same thing at John 20:23, altering the tense of the verbs.
      Be well sir.

    Seven reasons I do NOT use the NIV:
    1) the NIV is now gender-neutral, i.e., it uses feminist English
    2) the NIV is based on the critical text theory that first came to prominence in the 19th century.
    3) the NIV has bizarre readings based on a paucity of manuscripts (e.g. Mark 1:41)
    4) the NIV has prose that is mediocre at best (in stark contrast to the KJV) and is harder to memorize.
    5) the NIV is constantly changing, not only because of American politics, but also because the Greek text underlying it is constantly being reworked.
    6) the NIV injects commentary directly into the text, rather than leaving commentary to footnotes (e.g. I Corinthians 7:1)
    7) the NIV is NOT accurate in translating even from the Greek text that it is based on; it is NOT a literal translation.

    The NIV's "gender-inclusive" language approach is awful. Changing singular pronouns to plural. It also has a blatant theological agenda in the way it inconsistently translates the word "tradition" throughout the NT. Other than that, it's an OK translation.

    • @CaseyFleetMedia
      @CaseyFleetMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like it

    • @MetroWord
      @MetroWord 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The NIV doesn't really have a pattern of changing singular pronouns to plural. That's more of a NRSV thing. There are Greek words that were traditionally translated in English as brothers or men that in Greek can and do refer to both genders. Even the updated NASB 2020 adds in italics "and sisters" after brothers to communicate that the Greek isn't referring only to male siblings (literally or metaphorically). If you're used to an older translation I do get that it may be jolting. However, the NIV's readability is a real strength with young people and with teaching those who aren't strong and regular readers. I read the CSB, NIV, NASB, and occasionally the NKJV, all with delight. They each help me to see the truth of Scripture and help me witness to my neighbors.

    • @SaltyPalamite
      @SaltyPalamite 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MetroWord Yes it does, and it is awful. It uses "they" or "their" when referring to a singular pronoun. Even the NRSV does not do that.
      E.g., Matthew 16:24:27: "Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny THEMSELVES and take up THEIR cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save THEIR life will lose it, but whoever loses THEIR life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit THEIR soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for THEIR soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what THEY have done." Yikes.
      Also, in the NT, the NIV does not translate "traditions" or "teachings" consistently. Rather, depending on the context, it translates one or the other so as to push its Evangelical theological agenda.

    • @MetroWord
      @MetroWord 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SaltyPalamite Ah! I see what you mean! Pronouns generally have a reference to a noun earlier in the communication. THEMSELVES and THEIR points back to WHOEVER which is singular. If that sounds bad to you then that's fine. I actually think and use some words that you'd think of as only plural as both singular and plural based on context. As for NRSV I was thinking of Psalm 1 which begins as Happy are those.
      I don't know Greek and why a translation of a particular word translated ad both traditions and teachings. However, I do know from Spanish that that are words and phrases that do not have an exact translation. Words can a wider or narrower meaning from language to language. So I'd want to know from reviewing conservative commentaries and language resources if in Greek this word was used in more than one way and if something would be lost if translators used the same word in all contexts.
      I think the NIV is great. I don't think it's perfect and there are points where I wish it read differently. But I'm not a translator. When I lead Bible study I recommend use of more than one translation. In practice it's good to have a daily reader but when studying it's super helpful to use more than one translation.
