I first got acquainted with Esther (not so much with Abi, whom I even then considered an unnecessary sidekick) when I was about nine or maybe ten. I can pinpoint that clearly enough, since only at the end of 1965 we got our first TV set ever (I was nine then). And they (she!!!) was HUGE in Germany and on German TV then. I didn't - at the time - grasp the extraordinary aspect of Israeli/Jewish artists being successful in the former Land of Hitler a mere twenty years after WWII. But I have always been smitten by the beauty of Esther's voice, and quite frankly of her physical beauty as well (whether that may be PI today or not. I was a ten-year old or so). I think she is one of the best singers of popular music of all time, and I feel honored that she has been living in Hamburg for decades.

I just recently discovered Esther Ofarim and Abi. The music that they made together is really great; and, Esther's solo output is pretty grand as well. I have been listening to them non stop lately. Just really great stuff all around. Esther is gorgeous: she looks like a cross between Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles and actress Joyce DeWitt. Her eyes are just so pretty.
