I thought I'd just put it on a background while doing homework. But the composition is so beatiful, I'm just sitting here and listening in awe. Never paid attention to music classes, but I think I might've start now...Stunning.
Still super! Roman, thanks for explaining the origin of "dumka" - I just "educated" my local radio station for misusing the term and suggested the form is very much like the "barcarole" from western Europe. It's just that you're going on a trip down a farmer's road instead of a canal in Venice (or other river trip). I requested they play this.
Absolutely agree with you! It's a right context in which to position Lysenko and his music. And we have to do more for promoting him abroad. So I'll be uploading more of what I have, and if you and other musicians after hearing it start including his works in their programs, that will already be a little breakthrough :)
Світовид Мовчан Please spare us the politics here. Many great musicians had their lives destroyed for supposedly being on one wrong side or the other.... and my comment refers to much more than just Stalin’s actions. Besides, your bloodthirsty nonsense is nauseating.
Shame on me! I am an Ukrainian and have never listened to Lysenko. (Instead I prefer Chopin, Liszt or the piano concertos by Saint-Saëns). Impressive music!
Hi Roman I am an Australian, parents from Ukraine.I would like to promote this in Australia.I will be building, renting and selling Concert Public Address Systems.
Hi George, just thought that you might be interested to hear my performance of Lysenko's Elegie. :) I study under a Ukrainian pianist (Tamara Smolyar). th-cam.com/video/EPmQ2iDlPVY/w-d-xo.html
Until last thursday I thought Lysenko was just some awkward Soviet scientist, and I couldn't get why there was this music school named after him. I thought it was just some other thing I didn't get.
It’s another Lysenko. You thought about Trofim Lysenko and yes he’s soviet scientist. But Mykola Lysenko (the guy that wrote this composition) is another person. He literally died before soviet union was created💀
astonishingly beautiful and melodically creative. How have I never heard of this composer before?

Прекрасне виконання з тонким відчуттям стилю і творчою фантазією!

Єх, Лисенко...один з моїх найулюбленіших композиторів... прикро, що він не зовсім популярний...
Для кого він не популярний? Його знає вся Україна.

Excellent. Can you tell me the name of the painting in background, please?
lazyE, try to find out some works of Taras Shevchenko paintings. It can be one of there.

I've got it (so-so quality, yet legible). E-mail me: fuscina (at) gmail.com
I will! Thanks :)
Roman Horbyk Is it possible for me to get a copy of this from you? Thanks!

By any chance, could you send me the sheet music for this song?
Damyan Hucal It is not a song (you need voice for that) it is simply a piece, a piano piece of music. Otherwise we say symphony, sonata etc.
Kiarinadia Ok, Mr. Technical. 'We' don't say sonata or symphony because this isn't a sonata or symphony.
