Solo Survival: Pacific Northwest
I spend 6 days alone using wilderness survival skills to live off the land, building shelters, purify water, primitive friction fires in the rain, trapping, fishing and hunting. Join me in a survival adventure and learn to survive in the Pacific Northwest.
Thanks everyone for checking this out, please share it in groups or with friends, I need this to take off to allow me to make more and TH-cam isn't getting it out there for some reason. If I can get this to go viral I will go film in the deep Amazon with a tribe I used to spend time with hunting monkeys with blowguns.
Also, please click this link to Better Help: betterhelp.com/wildsurvival just even clicking on it will help me to gain more sponsorships for new ideas. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Also, my friend allowed me to stay at his Airbnb for the editing process and I want to recommend it if you are ever passing through the PNW coast the house is gorgeous!

Nice to see you're uploading.
Thanks, hope you like it
As a PNW native, I'd say you did very well. I enjoyed the content, and thanks for sharing with us all.
Awesome! Thank you!
I learned more in this video than I have in years of watching others. You are a great teacher and your knowledge base seems unsurpassed.
thank you
another legendary outing from the king of the outdoors, Tom McElroy
Thank you
good to have you back Tom!
Blast from my past! Always have been a fan.
Always loved your survival series. 7 years ago I watched that one series of yours like a dozen times.
me 3
Thanks for sticking with it
Cannot wait. Know this will be amazing
I appreciate it, thanks!
I think it's awesome that you show a non optimal situation. Most survival channels just give up and upload one that fits the expectations of a perfect survivalist.
thanks, yeah, hit some snags in the original plan, but it was a good time.
30 seconds into the video and I had to stop to say I'm stoked to be watching another Tom McElroy video
Thanks Tom...you did great out there man... I'm happy to see your videos again.. All the best-
Thanks! I had a blast. Gonna try to post more often.
I have studied survival skills for 35+ years, my lobrary of books is pretty large. I have never seen a crab snare before! Ingenious!
thanks you, i have seen modern ones but had just thought of making one primitive, I really want to get it to work.,
Never heard of those crab snares. Interesting idea.
Yeah, im on a mission to make that work. The location was not great for that, but in a calmer bay I think it should work great. People use modern ones all the time and they work great.
A pleasant surprise to see your upload! Now it is time for me to think I can survive these scenarios all on my own
Unbelievable bow drill skills. Amazing that you could light the fire with the first try. Nice trick to twist the root to make it more pliable. I need to try that!!
thanks lily
Best survival adventures on youtube!
always look forward to these. A while back I saw the podcast you did a few years ago, and would love to hear about the year you spent out in the wild. There must be amazing stories you have from it!
Glad to see Future Tom is creating content
Haha. I love that you remember past Tom’s thoughts
Good to see you back. Been watching you for a couple of years now. You’re one of my favorite outdoor guys. Keep up the great work
Thank you

Omg its been a long while since I’ve seen your videos! I live in the pnw so this is so cool!
I could have stayed another week and not ran out of things to do
Great video Tom! The Chanterelles and oysters looked amazing! Great fire starting, shelter build, foraging! Really enjoyed watching!
THE LEGEND RETURNS
AND HE HAS SHOES!!!
Haha, after all the hateful comments about being barefoot....hah, nah, the shell reefs are too sharp to not have shoes out there
@@wildsurvivalskills I have n idea why anyone would give you hate you are without a doubt the best overall survival expert I've seen on TH-cam. I've never seen anyone explain so well going from zero to boss and make it look fun. My whole family thinks you're awesome dude, forget the haters.
you dont upload often but when you do its quality stuff thank you for sharing knowledge
So glad you are back , your videos are absolutely awesome. love seeing you make the snare, really cool
Cool! I watched the whole thing and it was awesome.
Heck Yeah love this video and that your posting these again :)
also very much apreciate the sponsor, very direct and the fact that it doesnt switch to a harsh post edited video full of screenshots keep it up . sponsors are a great way of keeping channels like this thriving .
yeah, exaclty, hopefully BetterHelp keeps the love coming so I can get right into filming the next one
I’ve only watched one of your videos but I’m pacing myself to watch another, because I know I’ll blast through them all in a day if I don’t… But this videos an exception 😂
hell yeah! its been a while
Two in 4 months is huge for me. lol
Cool to see some new vidz from you
Thanks, fun to be back! Already thinking of whats next
Very cool. I always like seeing the whole "only natural materials" approach, always interesting even if I will never use it myself.
Would have liked to see what you did with the inside of the hut or if you just slept on the ground. Other than that, I enjoyed it.
I've been waiting patiently for another video so thank you
Appreciate the patience, thanks for watching, check out the island video I put out 4 months ago
I did last night and it's so good any chance you are coming to Australia would love to do a course with you
Tom one of the real authentic ones.
That was awesome! Thanks for this great video Tom :)
Man I literally checked not that long ago for a new vid and it wasn't there but now it is lets go
Thanks
Great stuff mate. Hi from Australia
Still the best non-bs survival content out there, really love your videos. :)
thank you
Auto like. Boot, FYI. Your surname means Son of Elroy in Irish. I find that Iconic!!!
It sure wouldn’t hurt my feelings any if we had that much rainfall in my neck of the woods. Where most love sunny days. Give me a gloomy severe thunderstorm (the more severe the better) now that’s my idea of a beautiful day,or night.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Lets GOOOO!
Tom, that was so great! Thanks
Appreciate it! I had a blast
Great video tom very informative 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Tom!

Glad you enjoyed it
@@wildsurvivalskills cant wait for the next one
Glad to see more of your content..as always, enjoyable to see..and yes! the woods are very therapeutic..😌 Central NC here..Those chanties are my favorite shrooms💯 such good eatin!
Central NC is a great place for some woods time!
@@wildsurvivalskills yes sir it is! Thanks for all you do💪🏼
Wow, you are a real master of survival. You make it seem effortless. Thanks for sharing
Thanks you, I appreciate that
Return of the Legend...
Thanks coach!
Outstanding.
Nice to see a new vid
love your conntent
BTW the signal crayfish are one of the bigger ones. The big ones like to be in deeper pools.
I used to catch thousands for with traps and by hand for outdoor festivals and such.
You need to hook a small rope to your trap.
Good to know, if I find deeper pools I will definitely do that.
Hey that was awesome thanks😊
Glad you liked it!
Bro yes lfggg!!! I hope you keep uploading! Canadian shield interior is waiting for you
I’m looking into northern Alberta
@@wildsurvivalskills Solid choice my friend. The berta rockies are a magical place
Good to see you back again. I'm curious as to what happened with the squirrel snare....
Oh yeah, no luck. I set a trail camera but the squirrel just ran around it on the ground. Trapping is tricky
Great video, Tom -- loved the detailed explanations of all the tasks necessary for a 6-day survival experience. Its definitely one to watch a few more times. I'm curious about the open fire in your shelter. Is an opening in the top sufficient to keep smoke out?
yeah, this one was fine, other shelters Ive had have started smokey and its a constant battle to figure out how to get the draw correct.
I chared your Video with the whole survival community influencers in Germany ( thank you for helping with 7 vs Wild) I hope they pic it up and react on your video. DeinStamm
thank you!!!!!
What kind of blade is that? Almost looks like a blocky Kukri.
I love it. It looks much safer than a hatchet. I like my hatchet, but I’m always hyper-aware of the risk of accidentally hurting myself with it. Sometimes, I avoid using it altogether, maybe out of irrational fear, but I just never feel fully at ease with it.
It’s a condor parang
youre a fuckin bad ass! thanks for the upload!
yo is my boy really back tho
Fighting the good fight!!!
An hour long video? You’ve just ruined my productivity for the rest of the night.
Sorry about that. Hope it’s worth it 😃
Funny how you get nervous doing stuff for the camera haha. For me you are the last person that would be nervous in this situation.
I was going to tell you that you were incorrect about the rain frequency up here, but I figured that'd be kinda stupid for me to say since it's currently raining...
all in all it could have been much worse
@@wildsurvivalskills definitely. Lucky the weather was so good.
it wasnt great, I kept my camera dry when it was raining so its not a great portrayal of the rain I did have, but all in all, yes, it was not much.
@@wildsurvivalskills lol yeah i meant great for up here in the PNW
17th yay me
The first 16 were relatives!
@@wildsurvivalskills LOL nah, you gotta a fan base
i haven't seen you for years, what happened man ?
got busy, lol
nice video. But - it's not solo when you bring a cameraman along. bit obvious.
Why does that even matter? Just appreciate the awesome content Tom just gave us.
It’s just me and a tripod. I think having a camera person would be great though
What made you think that lol
