I just want everyone to know that I didn’t do this totally last minute. There was a lot I didn’t show in this video. I wrote the first version of this paper in April of 2022 and I didn’t get my first round of revisions back until October 2022. After I got my revisions back I immediately began working on my lit review and read about 50 articles (not exaggerating), and I took notes of important elements from each of them and put them into a GoogleDocs for future Maddy to deal with, i then spent 3 weeks working on my data and perfecting my models and creating graphs in R. This video focused mostly on the writing portion and it ignored all the hard work and months of prep I did before this. 😌 I’m very proud of all the work I put into this! If you all want me to make a video about my strategy for writing let me know 😌
I would love to see a writing strategy video!! I’ve enjoyed all your videos so much, I’m currently in my second year of college and your videos help me so much by 1) reminding me that the stress I have is normal and 2) seeing you successfully complete the things you were stressed out about gives me so much motivation and confidence that I can do the same.
I just came from watching your 20 page research paper video and I immediately noticed a immense difference in your work style and confidence. It’s really inspiring to see how much more organized, reassured, and prepared you are now. It gives me hope that my horrible procrastination habits can improve with slow changes 😭😭 I’m going to try your strategies of giving myself a 10 minute break and using the Merve channel! I was also curious what you mastered in! I’m currently a senior in high school and wondering about college. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
@@maddsvlogs Hi!! Thanks for your response :) Political science sounds really cool! I’m currently in AP Government class and really enjoying it. I’m planning on majoring in English and then getting a MA in Education to become a teacher :) I’ve always loved my Language Arts classes and teachers, and I also enjoy writing (most of the time 😅)
@@allysonespinosa8253 i love that! I am actually in the process of becoming a teacher myself :) I loved AP Gov, after taking that class I decided to do political science! I’d love to go back and get my MA or PhD in education if in a few years from now I am really enjoying teaching. :)
I have never left my assignments to the last minute but I do have recurrent nightmares of situations where I only have 1 night to write my thesis and I wake up terrified. And I’m in my 30s. I salute you for doing this.
I really admire how you keep a healthy lifestyle while dealing with this. When I’m in a rush for a paper I don’t eat don’t sleep don’t do anything but write until I’m done, I really need to work on that 😂
watching this in spring 2024 to motivate myself to hunker down to finish my grad thesis, lol. took five days off of work, hoping i can get it done in a week since i did most of the preliminary work. thanks for the inspiration!!

From someone else who completed their master's in 2022 as well, CONGRATULATIONS! Nobody can take this away from you and you should bask in this accomplishment. Bravo, Master! Own that title, you earned it :)
I just got my own master's this May and remember going through a similar crisis of recurring imposter system while finishing my thesis in March (a year-long process in itself), but I totally empathize with the sheer relief and anticipation that comes with completing and submitting a paper like this. I’m the biggest procrastinator myself (I discovered I had ADHD 10 yrs after graduating uni), however my brain is so slow at processing thoughts and putting them into sentences and I genuinely struggle to recall the simplest of words so I could never ever do anything the night before it’s due or I’d fail miserably! I always needed about 3-4 days before it’s due for me to get it done in time (and that’s only for 2-3k word papers)! At day 3 before due date my stress levels are usually high enough for me to be motivated enough to start working on it knowing if I wait any longer I’m screwed lol. I was so jealous of those who could do things the night before and only have to deal with one night of stress instead of 3-4 😂 and you write a whole thesis in a weekend or a 20 page assignment in half a day! I wish I had your brain 😂 But all that aside I still did really well academically and won awards and was one of the top performing students in my faculty.
Hey, im also doing my dissertation and ive been doing my best to complete it before time. Sometimes i do feel that i should have started a bit earlier, im a bit criticizing myself for this. Although im also bit procastinating a bit, but i wish to complete soon. Dealing with a bit of my personal issues, but determined as well. I often felt im the only one feeling like this, but seeing others facing challenges regarding thesis, I'm a bit relieved that everyone has their own challenges.
Like others, I came from watching your 10 page essay video. I wish I would have come across this when I was working on my dissertation (randomly found it in my feed lol), but it is nice to reflect as I continue to improve myself everyday. Congratulations on all of your achievements and growth!!
Congratulations!!!🎉 I’ve just come from your 20 page essay video and I’m fully in the same boat.. procrastination got the best of me and I’ve got a 2000 word essay due in a couple hours. This is so comforting and encouraging at the same time 😩😅
I am currently writing my master's thesis, on a schedule of 2 pages a day over 35 days until January 25. Right now I am at the "why did I have to do this to myself? I should have taken my bachelor's degree and wave uni good-bye"-stage. I am stressed and anxious (I am constantly thinking that what I write is not good enough and will I even meet minimum standard to pass?) - especially because it will be graded by the same prof as was my bachelor's thesis, and her feedback was "best bachelor's thesis I read in a long time" - I feel like if I can not repeat that stunt, I will look like an imposter, if that makes any sense? This idea that she will be disappointed when she reads my thesis... because she expected more of me.
I went through this last year (August 2021) and yeah it's a rough journey. But there will come success and proud moments for you. If you managed to do so well at the bachelor's stage, sounds like you know what you're doing. Have confidence!
I have struggled with this exact issue. A prof will tell me that my essay was amazing and they can't wait to read my next one and then I am paralyzed by fear because I feel like the first one was a fluke and now I'm going to disappoint them and then I literally consider dropping out. Just know you're not alone and KEEP GOING. Don't let your thoughts stop you from living the life you want to live!
Kudos chica!! I relate so much!!! I just pulled a doozy with 5 chapter and presentation for PhD program. Hitting send last night was so satisfying! I'm happy for you and allowing us on the procrast journey lol
Damn... Reminds me of trying to finish my own Master's Thesis before the due date in December. I kept putting off writing it, too. Mental illnesses got in the way and I had to take a semester break, but was still burned out and didn't have much written for my thesis when I came back in the Fall. A month before the end of the semester, I passed my defense but was told to rewrite my entire thesis. I did that in two weeks, and only heard back from my main professor on revisions. My other committee professors didn't have any feedback for me, one went on a research trip and another got sick with COVID. My main prof was e-mailing me daily with editing notes and trying to contact the other profs, but it was all crickets. I ended up submitting almost 30 pages to the head of my department the last day it was due when thesis requirements were 10 pages max of research without sources. Good on you for researching and having your stuff ready so you could crank the actual paper out in 2 days.
I'm currently writing my last paper as undergrad Poli sci major, it's 10 pages. Just finished your procrastination paper vids. Onto my last paper, I'm motivated.

I came from your other video - ironically, I'm a high schooler in the last few days before the supplemental essays for 7 colleges I'm applying to are due - and I'm also going into political science. Guess I'll be seeing more of what you're doing in the years to come. You know what they say about procrastination - either conquer it, or embrace and master it (like you!), there's no good in-between.

Congratulations! That's awesome. :3 I finished doing a presentation today at noon to defend my research project for my Master's degree. It actually went better than I hoped. I was worried about it ever since I started Graduate school lol Here's hoping everything goes well and I recieve my degree. I have a good feeling it's gonna turn out alright.
Thank you for giving me hope. I have a huge series of exams (mock licensure exams :D) on january 5th-7th, and I'm still so not prepared for it. I have exactly a week to study.. Will update here. Move on to another subject questionnaires (RFBT/Law) (+200 pages) Done: ....

meeeee. lol. except we had 6 months to work on it. I have to submit my draft by Friday with the hope to have it done and approved by Monday - send best wishes please.
In the middle of watching this and this is already giving me motivation for my masters dissertation. The deadline is for the summer which is an extension deadline and I haven’t been that motivated with it this month maybe because of it being Christmas? I don’t know. I’ve also been busy with other life stuff as well so that could be part of it too. I said I was going to start working on it this week after Christmas but I haven’t. Thank you for the motivation for getting on with it :)
Thank you! I am in the process of submitting it to journals, so we will see :) it’s a tough world I’m academia, I have one paper that’s been rejected at least 10 times, but we are still trying to get it published!
Thank you SO SO much for mentioning Merve. That was the first time I heard about them and I've used those videos for 2 weeks now. I don't think I've ever been that productive and motivated lol. I finally stopped procrastinating the uni work I was avoiding for a month now 🥹

Hi Maddy, this is the first video of yours that I’ve watched but I loved every minute of it! I definitely feel this stress and the weight of imposter syndrome, as I am currently working on my undergrad thesis to graduate with Honors and I feel very overwhelmed. I’m not usually a procrastinator, but this all just feels like a lot (plus I have other classes on top of everything). It was so nice to see you finish this project, I was smiling and clapping for you when you said your defense went well!! Side note: you probably said this in the video, but what was your final word count after all edits?
Oh hahahah I just had a flashback to finishing my MA thesis down to the wire before the deadline 😂 Did I mention it was written entirely in SPANISH??? (Yes I got my MA in Spanish!!!) 45 pages of beautiful español. I did not start the day before but I pulled an all nighter the day before it was due and spent the final hours formatting the effing bibliography. So when people tell me they wrote a last minute paper I’m not that impressed given I had to write mine in a foreign language. 😂 (I wrote nearly all my college papers in French or Spanish as I was a Spanish major). It is so hard to not sound repetitive writing in a foreign language. Did not read any of the medieval Spanish texts from my medieval Spanish literature class in college because omg it was boring me to death yet somehow got a good grade on the final take home assignment. 😅 honk if you ever had to suffer through El Cid 😆
If you don’t mind my asking (and I might’ve missed this in the video), but what’s your thesis? Otherwise I extremely sympathise with you. I was procrastinating and found you (your 20 page research video) and i just finished one of my assignments while watching this video. Your videos are really helping me rn lmao so thank you!! glad i found your channel
20:46 it's amazing to think nearly (or sometimes more than) 6 years of school work culminates with one final touch up, and that's that. For me it was simply removing a grid from a figure. But regardless, in that moment you feel that weight lifted and that time taken out of you. Congrats!
What I love the most is that no matter how stressed you are you make sure to take breaks, sleep early.... etc . You really inspired me thank you ❤️
I realized that taking breaks made my work a lot better!

Thank you for posting about your process. I’ve been coming across similar situations in my academic career and seeing you persevere is giving me confidence to do the same!
Congrats on your thesis!!! as a first year in grad school I find all your videos so relatable …… currently I’m struggling to finish the left 4000 words of my essay which is due tomorrow. To make it worse, I got covid and ‘ve been coughing for days…But I believe I’m gonna survive…yeah… Love your content!!!
I hope you were able to get it done! :)
Not me procrastinating while watching her procrastination videos
I love these videos so much, it’s so encouraging 😩🙌🏾
I just finished my Bachelor’s Thesis a couple of minutes ago and I went straight to this video for comfort 😅
congratulations!!! so proud of how far you've come
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
I love your voice so much, and your talking is exactly how I talk to myself in these type of situations 😅
I just found you channel and absolutely love your vibe! Congrats on this!! I’m a first year architecture student and my work looks a lot different to yours, but the feeling of “why the hell did I not do this sooner” is all the same lol
Thank you! Congrats on being a first year architect, that was actually one of my dream jobs as kid! Such a cool profession
Congratulations- I don’t know you, but I’m so happy for you 🥹🥹🥹 I can’t even imagine how good it must feel…in addition to a ton of other feelings I’m sure! I look forward to more vlogs from you with whatever else it is you do after YOUVE GOTTEN YOUR MASTERS DEGREE!! P.S. your hair looks amazing that length. I have a pamphlet due in January 4th, I am forced to procrastinate as I am on vacation and parents didn’t allow computers… I wrote everything beforehand and I am coming back home at Dec 31st so I have hopes that I can finish designing it while jet-lagging while earning a 6 (I am an IB student and we grade by /8, 6 is proficient)
Congratulations! That's awesome. :3
I finished doing a presentation today at noon to defend my research project for my Master's degree. It actually went better than I hoped. I was worried about it ever since I started Graduate school lol
Here's hoping everything goes well and I recieve my degree. I have a good feeling it's gonna turn out alright.
Good luck!!
YES THANK U FOR THIS!!!!!!
the hair colour REALLY suits you!!! :)
Thank you 💗
Congratulations, so happy for you !
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
Congrats on finishing and getting your masters! Not everyone can do that!
Thank you for giving me hope. I have a huge series of exams (mock licensure exams :D) on january 5th-7th, and I'm still so not prepared for it. I have exactly a week to study.. Will update here.
Updates:
DAY 1
GOAL: Revise a ~700 page reviewer (Financial Accounting: Theory) !!
Done: 319 pages in 24 hrs. Not bad!!
DAY 2
Goal: Continue day 1 task (~200+ pages more). Move on to another subject questionnaires (RFBT/Law) (+200 pages)
Done: ....
Good luck on your exams!!
@@maddsvlogs thank you so much and congratulations!! i hope you are doing well these days 💜
came from your 20 page procrastination video, your hair LOOKS SO GOOD in the red and the braids. you are convincing me to go red fr
Thank you! I love being red! I have been for 2 years and I love it so much! Though I’m going to be transitioning to a strawberry blonde soon for summer because red and swimming don’t mix :/
Last minute time! getting close to 24 hours for my undergrad thesis, done like 1000 words, gonna be a a tough day
I know this is a few weeks old, but congratulations on your achievement! Coming from a fellow expert procrastinator, I admire your ability to organize and plan out your time knowing that you struggle with this issue. Good luck in your future endeavors!
Congratulations G! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Isaiah!!
Congratulations!!
Thank you 💗
I just finished my essay at 1:47 am this is the longest I’ve stayed up to finish something.. I’m not sure if I even reached the word minimum count since quotes.
meeeee. lol. except we had 6 months to work on it. I have to submit my draft by Friday with the hope to have it done and approved by Monday - send best wishes please.
I'm back and here again. Got an extension x2 and this is my final deadline, it's Thursday and I got to get this in on Sunday. Gonna die.
I got less than 2 months left till the deadline I’m watching this cos I know this is what will happen to me if I don’t manage my time well fuck me lol
i loved this so much
Thank you 😌😌
Hey. Congratulations!! I’m currently in the process of writing my thesis as well. I would really love to read your paper once its public.
Thank you! I am in the process of submitting it to journals, so we will see :) it’s a tough world I’m academia, I have one paper that’s been rejected at least 10 times, but we are still trying to get it published!
@@maddsvlogs Good luck♥
Wow congratulations!!
I need a hair tutorial your hair looks so beautiful towards the end of the video. 20:28
Thank you, but I recently cut about 7in off! I can try to show you how I do it but it may look different now that my hair is short :/
Thank you SO SO much for mentioning Merve. That was the first time I heard about them and I've used those videos for 2 weeks now. I don't think I've ever been that productive and motivated lol. I finally stopped procrastinating the uni work I was avoiding for a month now 🥹
Next year: “I wrote and submitted my career-defining grant request in 2 hours”
That is very impressive to write so much so quickly. I usually max out at 1000 a day.
OH GOD NO...NOT A TRILOGY
congrats on being done with uni! also the channel you mentioned Study with Merve, the name is pronounced Mer- (like in Mary) and -ve is pronounced like vae. I think it’s a Turkish name so just wanted to let you know :)
these vids make me feel better that im procrastinating a paper on films instead of numbers lol
Watching this video for motivation, because my assignment is due in 11 days and my Master's Thesis is done by 10%... and I'm completely burnout 💀
Watching this while procrastinating my college assignments lol
I know I’m so very very late for this, but let me just say THAT I’M SO PROUD OF YOU 🎉❤😊
Congrats on finishing college🎉🎉 I just found your channel and i am already super invested haha. May i ask how old you are? Because you look so young to me but you finished your masters so i was like… wow
I am 24:)
The 3rd and final movie of the procrastination trilogy. LOL
haircut is cute good job congrats
Thank you 💗💗
On here at November 30, 2023 9:22
This is me now in December 2024😭😭
what time would you wake up if you go to bed at 8pm? cuz for me, 5 hours in enuf, so if I go at 8pm, I would literally wake up at 1am
I absolutely dread literature reviews
They suck! What do you mean I can’t just say “take my word for it” when explaining me theory /j
@@maddsvlogs Right? I just finished my undergrad in criminology and the writing has honestly burnt me out of wanting to do any sort of thesis-based graduate program anytime soon :/
@@noahbarber1234 i was super burnt out when I stared mine :/ but I didn’t have a choice because it was 2020 and there was literally nothing else I could do. Grad school is a lot different than undergrad tho. Less classes. Less class meetings. Less assignments. But a lot more reading and expectations.
@@noahbarber1234i am currently working in my literary undergrad thesis (i study translation and interpreting) and gosh. I am a reader not writer. Its just summarised words of others. No Masters for me😭😭
Hi Maddy, this is the first video of yours that I’ve watched but I loved every minute of it!
Thank you so much! Good luck with your presentation. My final word count was 9,965 :)
@@maddsvlogs thank you!!
And that’s great! I was just curious about the work count because I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to aim for.

I’ll be starting my masters in may and I’m so nervous..I am not good at writing :/
¡buen trabajo! Yo estudio español todo los días. Yo tengo una ranch’s de 254 días en duolingo. Estoy orgullosa de mi misma 😹
Learnt nothing from this, what was the process? You nailed it but gurl share your process!
I've got a month and 15k words and analysis to write... whew wish me luck
You've got this!! Good luck
SHE JUST LIKE ME FR
Bumped into your channel by accident and I must say it's impressive how you manage to do the work, congrats! What was your major?
I got an MA and BA in political science :)
Hi! I am writing my master thesis as well. What was your thesis about?
What did you study? Congrats ! 🎉🎉
If you don’t mind my asking (and I might’ve missed this in the video), but what’s your thesis? Otherwise I extremely sympathise with you. Don’t know if you have adhd or not, but I got diagnosed with it DURING my masters, and suddenly all the missed deadlines and extensions and night-before essays made sense lol.
