I’m 83 and been wondering for at least 80 years how they establish hat sizes. After reading the comments I now know you measure your head and divide by Pi, duh! That’s a lot easier than ordering someplace between Mouse and Elephant. BTW, I’m a 7-5/8’s.
Why can’t you make a size 8? I have a big melon and would buy a Stetson!

LOL. My problem isn’t makin’ a big hat small, it’s finding a new Open Road straw that’ll fit my giant head. Any advice on when Stetson will be making more of these? My fat head is 24.5” which looks to be a 7 7/8.
This is a real problem. Trying to find the style my son wants in a color and the size that'll fit his noggin. Head size plus thick hair.

The circumference measurement you get, you divide it by pi 3.1415…and gets you the size

My head circumference is 23 1/4". Why do I wear a hat size 7 5/8?

Sorry I stopped watching this right after you wrote one eighth of a foot above the ear. If you meant one eighth of an inch, that looks more like an inch and an eighth.

⅛' is equal to 1½ inches. I believe they really meant one-eighth of a foot.
