- A local freight with 3 awesome locomotives coming out of the yard and crossing the diamond! This is a shortline train in Lima, Ohio on the Indiana & Ohio Railway I&O. Then I filmed a fast double stack intermodal freight train crossing the diamond at Deshler , Ohio on CSX. The location in Lima is awesome but there is a lot of traffic. I&O is still using the old style cantilever signals, so that is a huge plus. Those are becoming rare. The location in Deshler is an awesome spot also and is a designated railfan park with a shelter, picnic tables and a scanner. Filmed June 24, 2020.

Sometime, go north of Attica Ohio on route 4. This CSX mainline crosses a NS mainline. Both double traxks. Alot of trains. Then go to Bellvue, and go train silly!

Very good video JT! Nice looking LIMA & DESHLER EMDs pulling a very long mixed freight! The CSX double stack train with DPU unit sounds so good going over the diamond! That old train station and depot are cool to JT!
Man those trains are holing butt, love that painting on side of building.
I remember when they replaced the diamond at Deshler and it really sounded good for a while but not it is just as noisy as before and I noticed the cars on the east side of the diamond bouncing. Another year and they will need to replace it again.
On the first train I noticed some RCPE hoppers. Rapid City Pierre & Eastern is a Genesee & Wyoming railroad that runs on the old DM&E lines mainly in South Dakota and southern Minnesota. I see their hoppers on the CP (and sometimes BNSF) all the time.
Nice old C&O signal bridge in the 1st half of the video and then a surviving switch tower.

JawTooth, I was in Wyoming/Woodlawn, Ohio this past Monday, and I saw a RARE catch. 3 Cars in the front, then a CSX Engine, then 5 cars behind. No engine on front or rear. I chased him from Wyoming Ave all the way to Glendale and Sharon Road.

Railroad diamonds must be very rare it's like a junction of train tracks together where they connect
They're not that rare.
@@terryboyer1342 Sure aren't rare in Ohio. The peak years of railroad building and the peak years of US industrialization coincided in Ohio. Just look at Google Earth - there are at least two more (x the number of tracks) in Lima alone.

I never saw a locomotive in the middle of a train like the CSX train. Diamonds, strange spurs, you keep 'em coming.
They are called DPUs. Fully remotely controlled from the lead engine.
And VERY common. Sometimes you will see two or more in the middle and a couple at the end too.

That's kinda interesting how the crossing gates on that turnout did NOT go down while the train passed on the "main" line. There must be some sensors built into the turnout to trigger those gates, but there's almost no margin for error with the turnout so close to the grade crossing!!

If you live near trains it doesn't take that long for all of it to become background noise. When you move someplace else, you find yourself missing it. Been there, done that.

There seems to be a heavy traffic of Semi-Trucks! Nice shot tho, can't get any closer. You can always zoom in, but can't zoom out, if you stand too close. I like that red SD40-2 in the middle!

on that 2nd train in dreshler it looked like a flange oiler those 2 lines going under the rails before the crossover. or was that something else

Yes! It’s part of their precision scheduling railroading program. Longer trains with fewer engines placed in strategic locations.

That is true a single engine is not going to be strong enough to pull that many cars
@@moviewatcher1239 The way I see it the fewer number of engines on a train, the shorter it will be. Not always the case, though.
