I'm in Australia. I think the best take away from this is the simple Prestige that wealthy families have on education. Some people in lower classes laugh at education but wealthy people respect it and I admire that.
A country or nation only becomes wealthy when its population becomes more educated, there are exceptions, but they rely on educated foreigners like the Middle East.
when you have wealth you can buy the best education and learn of its value, when you are poor you get what you are given which might be poor quality, mismatched and not fit therefore you might very well laugh at it .

I think it’s hard when someone from a corporate behemoth (who you should be vigorously questioning) comes in there as young as him (he’s like what, 29?)... it’s hard to feel like you should be vigorously pushing back on him when you’re a college student and your perception is that he’s basically your peer... you very much start to view him as one of you at that point and then you inevitably start to feel kinda like “well, what’s he know yet?”... so I think that’s part of it. I’ve seen it many times with very young leaders and very young people in power, the desire to harshly question them isn’t there as much because they seem inherently harmless and altruistic to a degree, whether that’s actually true or not. probably part of why they sent him over other family members actually, he’s the cute, hip and harmless face of a massive corporate entity.
@@nevm7469 lol his dad was interviewed years before and they were even softer. the hard truth is that oxford is the equivalent of lvmh of higher education, pure elitism, so when push comes to shove it would be very difficult to use the usual pretend socialist stance in this case, as most of the audience and their families are their loyal customers.

LVMH is a public company controlled by a family through a complex structure that is not allowed in the US or many parts of the world. The Arnault family controls LVMH but it is not a family business - it is a public Company, which is obligatted to deliver quarterly earnings in line with other public companies.
His parents obviously did a tremendous job and dedicated many many hours and thought into raising him properly Not so many people got that as they grew up Some people might say that parents most likey have an easier job when they have this kind of money But I have to disagree. It can be a real burden (a different kind of burden than not having money)
Yes, what a lovely young man Alexandre is He comes from one of the wealthiest families in the world and he is so down to earth and not at all snobbish or acts above these Oxford elite who will be perceived as snobs
Started off the Q&A by talking about the importance of family and long-term desirability in LVMH, however, the "not your mother " campaign launched by Tiffany seems to be the antithesis of this. Erodes the long-term desirability of the brand by offending their primary demographic and goes against his own values by exploiting the family unit (mother and daughter) in order to increase revenue. Despite this, he seems quite well put together and competent but his answers weren't especially interesting as they appeared rehearsed.
It's very easy to make money if you father is the wealthiest person in the world. The real entrepreneur is in a third world country, risking all his/her wealth and running more than 3 businesses in parallel.
I would have liked to hear more about how he thinks about the balance between growing as a public company and diluiting the brand (everywhere I turn I see LV bags for ex). Also quality is a big problem. It obviously dropped in the last decades as LVMH profits have soared. Making items in Asia and than importing them in France/Europe by and sticking a label "made in France".
Over two decades ago the Italian government made a huge mistake by accepting the Chinese CCP pressure, (1) to have Italy accept thousands of Chinese workers, apprentices in the shoe-making and luxury leather goods industry to come and train and learn invaluable skills, then return to China with this wealth of skill and knowledge. Now guess who was the European man, French (1) to be exact that was involved, lobbying Italy. It is hard to comprehend what some people will do for Profit. Sam your comment was spot on target of the greed of the Arnault family! 06 12 2023 UK
Alexandre Arnault's father, Bernard Arnault, has run LVMH since 1989 and is the world's fourth-richest man, with a $117 billion net worth. Certainly not on any philanthropic lists...but hey, monopolies are no longer illegal.
Tiffany is clearly a lot better than those cheap jewels of high price in some countries#Their locks are phenomenal and so beautiful #Tiffany tells the stories of women and their designs are the manifestation of modern feminism.
First of all, ostentatious "charity" is a dumb american obsession. We don't do that around here, having tuxedo galas and charity dinners with silent auctions at the Hamptons with $50,000 seats just isn't our culture. But most importantly, we have the highest taxes in the civilized world, someone like mr Arnault pays around 60% income tax between his salaries and dividends. So there's really no reason to do the charity thing when you're already taxed that much. Inheritance tax can go as high as 60%, and you don't get to disinherit your kids in favour of some dumb charity, so the "Giving Pledge" wouldn't even make any sense in France, so there's also that.
Simeon…you really need to update your facts! Bernard Arnault is now and has been for some time #1 on the list of the wealthy with net worth above $200 billion. He maintains no monopoly to date. Philanthropy will come..have patience and observe.
It is history that repeats itself , Italy invents and France bus,Bulgari was sn Italian creation and France buy it. Colombo who was Italian, discovers America and above all the French and British conquer it , this is the fate of the Genius Italian.

Well, he talks a good game about LVMH being a "Family" company. That was the furthest from how many of us felt when his family came stalking the good graces at Tiffany. A flip egotistical remark made by his Pops to then US President at the opening of their U.S. LV "leather" factory: "watch what I'm going to do next", left a bitter taste of things to come to our Tiffany family. Throughout their forceful contentious nasty courtship, LVMH behaved anything BUT the epitome of FAMILY to Tiffany: cold, void of eye contact and vapid of pleasantries, they donned their clothes of greed, rode in, raped us via the stock purchase price, disallowed us from selling our traditional beloved silver lines to loyal clientele, and constantly raised prices without fair warning - not what Tiffany old guard was accustomed to. There was no more treating employees in the usual respectful ways with class, gracious manners, and abiding gratitude for servicing our clientele like the kings and queens they were to us. No more daily pleasantries that made it a beautiful lovely place to come to work. No, when LVMH burst through the door, it was anything BUT family anymore at Tiffany. More like shackled enslavement on the plantation with a whip on your back if you dared to be a congenial human. The Arnault "Family" may be french, but they know nothing of seducing a beautiful woman when first they rape from behind, all the while demanding a high ransom of money for their unchivalrous acts!!
