    Still using my 5T on Android 10. Still very fast and smooth, no studders etc. Mine is still in mint condition with no scratches, image burn, nothing.

    Recently I installed an unofficial lineage OS with android 12L on my OnePlus 2. As expected it's not a great experience but being able to do it is more than enough. Custom roms give old phones a new life and it's such a shame that many phones have such restrictions on unlocking the bootloader and custom roms.
    Big thumbs up to all the developers who still believe in these old devices and keep them from going obsolete.

      Bro I flashed PX12l one my OP5t then I wanted to try Los 19.1 and it's a bug fest. Keeps popping up with Android intelligence keeps stopping or something, weird. Gonna go back to PX12.1 unless you know of to fix this? UPDATE. I found a way around a buggy Los19.1 experience. Just choose the core package for nikgapps build for the suited ROM. And you wont get any bugs because the bugs are caused by Google apps and services. The core build minimalises the chances of bugs. "Less to go wrong" hope this helps.

      Friends, I'm a complete layman when it comes to installing roms on smartphones. I have a Oneplus 5t and until today I didn't have the courage to update it for fear of damaging it. I've never done anything, not even unlock the bootloader, which by the way I don't even know what it is. Can I get a step-by-step guide on how to make my dream come true to update my phone to Android 12?

    • @zingythelemon7949
      @zingythelemon7949 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sergiorj85 yes mate it's easy peasy to get a custom ROM on any smartphone, first enable Dev options, then enable usb debugging and OEM unlock, then turn off phone then boot Into recovery mode and choose unlock bootloader. This will restore the os like factory reset. Then setup device again this isn't an issue considering your gonna flash new ROM if your doing this. then turn off device and boot to bootloader and select fastboot mode. Plug into pc and run CMD and type Adb devices and yours should list. Then type flash recovery and select a twrp recovery specifically for your device. One flashed boot to recovery and wipe cache/dalvik cache, ART cache, data, vendor, system, leave internal storage and micro usb. After click install and select your ROM of choice, I'd strongly recommend Lineage os 19.1 and pick a gapps build of your choice for Android 12.1. once done format device and boot to system. And there you go a custom ROM. Don't follow my steps entirely I missed a few steps this is just rough guide.

    I'm pretty sure that the 'Camera dotfix' @3:20 is a bugfix for the Google camera app which prevents images from getting a dot grid on the OP5. I tried to find a version of the Google camera app which runs on my OP5 about 1 year ago and the best version I could find was one which produced such a grid with small dots so it wasn't really useable.. Maybe they fixed it finally with this OS.

    High memory usage is actually a very good thing. The 6gb you're seeing there isn't the system just sitting there idle, hogging ram, it's the system caching recently used apps so they load instantly, which you *want* it doing. If an app needs a bunch of memory for whatever reason the system will just clear the apps from memory, which happens instantly with no lag spikes
    FWIW I have the 6gb version of this phone and am at 4gb average usage.

    Reminds me of back when there was CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0), SlimBean by SlimROMs (Android 4.1), and some unofficial CM ports (Android 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4) all on the LG Optimus S (and Optimus V)...also the likes of Oct-L (Android 5.0), Oct-M (Android 6.0), & CarbonROM (Android 7.0&7.1) for the Samsung Galaxy S3 & S3 Triband. Ahhh, as the TV show's theme goes, "thooose...werrre...thaaa...DAAAAAAYYYYYYS!!"
    Sucks that rooting and custom software is close to impossible on a lot of phones nowadays. (Ex.: Not sure about the midrange or low end stuff, but Snapdragon-toting Samsung flagships have generally been locked down tighter than...something...since the days of the Galaxy S7 family.)

    You can use nova launcher and use double tap to lock.
    Or use FNG (fluid navigation gestures) and have a long swipe to lock it. Thats what i did in my 3t.

      I'd say yes. I got 2 other phones after my OnePlus 5.. But they just don't feel worth it. I went back both times to my OnePlus 5. Currently texting on it now. Battery is still 6-8 hrs full day use and longer with light use. Works on international networks and most American networks still. ( Verizon's visible service was very restrictive)
