This place is only 3 minutes from where I live. It is becoming a really decent plaza with many stores and restaurants opening up. Giant Eagle moved to Washington Square a while back but from what I heard they were renting the space all those years despite moving (they didn't want any competitor to use their old space). Now there is a nice Drug Mart on that space.
That is so weird, where I live you'd never see a closed McDonalds, Pizza hut, etc., not even a single dead mall, it all swarming all the time, and watching such videos makes me feel like I'm stuck here in the past watching videos from the future! Great job man, just found your channel
Just an update: they recently demolished the Pizza Hut building. They also made progress where Giant Eagle used to be & are also rebuilding Speedway to be more modernized with a café. Mcdonalds still stands abandoned though.
This plaza has so many memories for me!! I grew up right down the street from there (Easton st) where it was once a IGA for many years before giant eagle. The McDonald's was my first job in highschool, 2000-2001
For future reference, most older McDonalds like this still have one identifiable feature. It doesn’t have an M anywhere around it, but just like older Pizza Huts, they have the same feature. It’s the door handles. Those door handles on this McDonald’s is original. Pizza Hut used to have huge metal handles on their doors which had the Pizza Hut logo on it. So anytime you see an abandoned building that has this same design of door handle, it was a McDonald’s. Basically built into the door, not attached to it with hidden screws.
There was a Giant Eagle in Weston WV .It closed in 1988 and sat abandoned until Kroger moved in 1994.It shut down 20 years later and has been empty ever since.
Thanks :) funny thing is, I didn't plan for either of them when I was filming, I actually took the photos of both the Pizza Hut and McDs, from Google Earth Street View, and they just happened to be in the perfect position to fade into my video photos :) . You would probably like my video of the abandoned Canton Centre / Mellett Mall on my other channel (Skatemaster Nate), there are a bunch of these fades in that one, of the businesses inside, as well as the outside of the mall.
The doors on the old Mcdonalds was a dead giveaway to me, even thought they've remolded the inside, those doors always seem to remain, I hate that the dine i Pizza Huts have closed, for the Delivery ones to take their place, I hardly ever order delivery from Pizza Hut cause most times there's more mistakes than the dine-in locations
It looks like a ghost town to me! Makes me think of our own abandoned Pizza Hut. I was shocked when they closed. Makes me sad. I remember having a birthday at our Pizza Hut. Good memories. I like the fact you explore more then one abandoned place in this video.
As others have said they took down the Pizza Hut and expanded the building where Giant Eagle was. There's a Discount Drug Mart there now. There's also 4 restaurants in the plaza and they've updated the exterior of the plaza. Maybe you could come back and do a comparison video, that could be cool!
it was a giant eagle its been closed for a long time at least 15 years if not more I remember when it was an iga as a kid my dad would stop there to get groceries before we would visit my grandparents at cutty's in Hartville and he would always tae me to lunch at the mcdonald's there what memories awesome videos nate all of them
I actually have not been back out that way since I filmed this, but I have been told there was a buyer and they will be renovating the entire shopping center. I will get out there and see if I can film it when they do :)
There's ones similar to that in Twinsburg ohio and in Streetsboro ohio, at least Giant eagle wise. They both used to be Giant Eagles until they moved location.
That used to be a IGA but giant eagle bought them out and eventually moved down to Washington square. Now there tearing it all out and putting in a pharmacy I believe. CVS maybe. I can’t remember.
You mentioned Randall Park Mall in Ohio, I saw a video by another explorer who went deep into it, even the old original movie theatre, just before they started demolition on the mall. Very Cool. They went in Rolling Acres as well
Hey, The Grocery store was an IGA and then was a Giant Eagle that moved to Washington Square in like 2002. The red roof building was a Pizza Hut that closed in December 2016. And the building with the gray roof was a McDonald's that also moved to Washington Square in 2014. Everything there moved to Washington Square. Pizza Hut I believe just opened it Washington Square but I'm not sure. McDonald's closed & moved. the Giant Eagle closed in 2001. And in 2015 Dollar General closed in the plaza and moved across the street.
I wonder why everything went to Washington Square? any idea? I definitely could tell the Pizza Hut had closed recently, the McDonalds I wasnt sure, but it's really cool if you look at it on Google Earth Street View, it is abandoned until you tun down the drive then it is up and running in all it's glory lol. I should have put that in the video :) I couldnt find any photos at allof the GE back when it was functioning.
Uh. I believe everything moved just because business is better over there. Um they have more stores over there. The McDonald's moved because it wasn't busy anymore so they moved and Pizza Hut just randomly closed one day. I'm not sure if the new store is open or not
That Nate Guy On TH-cam the Pizza Hut closes because all of the pizza huts that you could dine in around her in canton closed because Pizza Hut is doing financially well
At 5:16 McDonalds looks happy full of customers and plants outside looking very nice but at 5:19 it looks old sad deserted abandoned forgotten neglected unloved and overgrown.
I remember when Pizza Hut would make their dough fresh every day it was undeniable the smell of dough and pizza sauce the air smelled sweet! Now they use Already made pizza discs that's what they taste like too.
no doubt man, PH used to be SO DAMN GOOD! Now it sucks. I've ordered it several times giving the benefit of the doubt, like oh well it was just a bad pizza THIS time, but it's every time. It's so disappointing.
Hey you do a good job on a closed schools keep it up you're doing a great job hope you make more films love watching them and hearing your laugh you're pretty cool
The Pizza Hut reminded me of the one in my hometown that became a Long John Silvers/KFC, before it was abandoned after being a couple of illegally ran Mexican restaurants.
My church is in here until June (on the end, behind the bank). The owner told us and the public he is renovating the whole plaza in June, including the Giant Eagle being renovated and converted into a Discount Drug Mart.
Update: Conversion and updates have begun, that old entry vestibule and facade of the anchor has been ripped down to brick and the wood canopies of the main plaza are being ripped down. Dojo near the other end was taking down their sign today, we're taking ours down soon too.
Are you a member of the UU and if so, where did they go to if they moved out? I remember when they moved in from the Market Ave building (I used to go to the UU before I got married).
lol dude I never have any idea whether I will be able to get in or not. And I do not go in anywhere I do not have permission. I'm not going to jail for B&E.
McDonalds is notoriously bad for eliminating all traces of eliminating evidence of a failed location. They do not want their reputation tarnished, which is ironic. Since being open tarnishes their reputation worse, lulz.
The McDs and PH are potential spots for Chinese Food. If they revitalize the area maybe something like goes there. You could just call the leasing agent and mention you are looking for retail space for a church or flea market. Then have someone show you the place. Nothing wrong with being a tire kicker.
That Nate Guy On TH-cam yeah Chrysler’s are not known for their reliability I’m a ford guy myself got a 2011 mustang absolutely love that thing. A lot of these places you visit I’ve never heard since I’m from down south excluding the ones like Kmart and various others
my question with all this store closing what going to happened with are kid's. and grandchildren when they get older to work very sad good video keep up the good work
The world is definitely changing. I have kids and a grandbaby myself, and I worry about this as well, but we also have to remember that, to you and I, these things are foreign, but they are growing up in it, and learning it as they go, so what seems difficult to us, is actually much easier for them to cope with because it is their norm. I don't think brick and mortar retail will ever completely cease to exist, but it definitely is going to have to conform as the world changes, in order to survive. Back in the early 90s, a guy I worked with said everything was going to trun into computers and all shopping would be done on computers, etc, and we all were like, this guy's a meatball, but in the end he was right.
Must have been something else after McDonald's, way too much cover up to just be closed down. Big front windows are it look like s Wendy's or Braums. not sure if y'all have Braums. cool video. thanks for sharing
tamara walker:Was a McDonald's is typical when an outlet is closed to eliminate all outward signs.Enables reuse of building to be reused for all sorts of small businesses.Ours was abandoned and torn down and relocated right at busy freeway exit with Truck,Bus & RV parking much bigger than one it replaced & a lot busier now.
Patricia Odom not sure if this is really the answer you’re looking for, but a lot of times these businesses don’t actually own the buildings and for the land that they sit on, so the businesses move out to another location, and have a running lease for another five Or 10 years or so, but somehow it is more financially effective to just let it sit there and rot away.
From what I heard (I went to Walsh and heard things about the plaza when GE was opening up there), the old owners didn't want to make repairs on the building when GE was leasing there. When Washington Square offered them the brand new store, they jumped on it full force. I live on the SARTA 103 route that pulls into the plaza and it's been amazing seeing the revitalization going on in it. Everything looks so pretty now and nothing like it did in this video.

Man, that fade-in at 5:13 is awesome.
lol I know man that one turned out great!
For future reference, most older McDonalds like this still have one identifiable feature. It doesn’t have an M anywhere around it, but just like older Pizza Huts, they have the same feature. I love seeing abandoned places. Crazy how hustling and busting it prbly was. Good to hear there's a new store
SarahSonatina me to watch wallie b 26 he is good to
There was a Giant Eagle in Weston WV .It closed in 1988 and sat abandoned until Kroger moved in 1994.It shut down 20 years later and has been empty ever since.
So it closed in 2014
9:40 that Giant Eagle front facade is interesting architecture! Fabulous find!
Thanks for another interesting explore. Yes, the fade in was cool.
Thanks :) funny thing is, I didn't plan for either of them when I was filming, I actually took the photos of both the Pizza Hut and McDs, from Google Earth Street View, and they just happened to be in the perfect position to fade into my video photos :) . The take the names and logos off because they don't want the company name on closed down buildings.
As others have said they took down the Pizza Hut and expanded the building where Giant Eagle was. There's a Discount Drug Mart there now. There's also 4 restaurants in the plaza and they've updated the exterior of the plaza. Maybe you could come back and do a comparison video, that could be cool!
I spent so many Friday Nights there after a GlenOak game. RIP Pizza Hut! I miss Canton, Keep it up bro.
Urban exploring with Kappy is also a great abandoned house exploring channel

I definitely remember shopping in there back in the 90s, when my parents lived in the area :) .
@@ThatNateGuyOnTH-cam where is this pizza hut plaza located?
I really like your videos, you seem to have a lot of knowledge and I enjoy your commentary! Thanks!
Thanks :) I need to get back to it lol, I've been so busy recently that I slacked off on this channel.
That Nate Guy On TH-cam are there any changes to these places yet
I actually have not been back out that way since I filmed this, but I have been told there was a buyer and they will be renovating the entire shopping center. I will get out there and see if I can film it when they do :)
@@ThatNateGuyOnTH-cam what is the music when u filmed the pizza Hut
At 9:58 what was that music.
There's ones similar to that in Twinsburg ohio and in Streetsboro ohio, at least Giant eagle wise. They both used to be Giant Eagles until they moved location.
Very nice video. I love stuff like this keep up the good work! 👍
Great video I loved seeing the Abandoned Pizza Hut, Abandoned McDonalds and Giant Eagle.
That used to be a IGA but giant eagle bought them out and eventually moved down to Washington square. Now there tearing it all out and putting in a pharmacy I believe. CVS maybe. I can’t remember.
I think there is an abandoned DQ beside the Culver's in Fairview Heights, IL.
4:32, What is that song?
Ur intro is soooo awesome
Rest. In. Pizza.
I live in the home area of Eagles and it was huge when they shut down. It is strange looking for an Eagles store. Keep Exploring man.
You mentioned Randall Park Mall in Ohio, I saw a video by another explorer who went deep into it, even the old original movie theatre, just before they started demolition on the mall. Very Cool. They went in Rolling Acres as well
Your videos are so freaking awesome you should have more subscribers than a thousand you know just think I'm one of your subscribers
I'm pretty sure that was a Giant Eagle at some point. It looks similar to the one on Raff Rd. but the front part isn't as deep as this one.
Hey Nate, that's awesome your friends with hunter! Tell him, I miss his vids. Not sure what happened to him. Thanks Nate!
Good god you videos are funny and sweet keep it up nate

Do chapel hill mall near summit mall in Ohio it's a dead mall only a few stores left and abandon anchor stores

What happen to the tables at that Pizza Hut
A question why did they put up a new roof over the old roof on the Abandoned McDonalds?
And yes I slapped your bell, I watch as much as I explore.
I use to work at that McDonalds.
where is this?
As soon as I saw the interior with the short walls, I knew it was a McDonalds. That looks like the inside of the one on Dueber at W. Tusc.
There's a abandoned know mart around here it's by the Dollar general

It's kinda strange to think that a _McDonald's_ could go out of business. You know, because it's McDonald's.
is their someone you could call to get in there

My church is in here until June (on the end, behind the bank). The owner told us and the public he is renovating the whole plaza in June, including the Giant Eagle being renovated and converted into a Discount Drug Mart.
oh wow I'll have to come back and get some footage of all the changes :) Thank you

First Pizza Hut with this roof configuration to have a drive thru how things have changed.
The Pizza hut has since been torn down
Very truly sad , all the lost jobs 😭
The McDonalds looked like it had been closed for more than 3 years at the time you recorded it.
What kind of store was giant eagle ?
where do you find your music?
It's an early 90s Giant Eagle.
Drove by there a few weeks ago, they're putting a discount drug mart in the old giant eagle.
Hmm, never saw a giant eagle before. I frequent Ohio as well. Keep up the good work man!
I don't deal with exploring with Hunter
Can you please film some abandoned stores and restraunts you can actually get into please??!!
