- Flying the RV-12 to 8FL3 Back Achers Aerodrome. 8FL3 is a hidden little airstrip which hosted a fun fly in with a diverse group of aircraft. Mooney, Beechcraft Bonanza, Kitfox, Cessna, Piper tri-pacer, Queen Air, R22, and various experimental homebuilts were some of the awesome airplanes which made it to this challenging grass runway.

That was cool. That is an interesting little grass strip. I miss the day's when we had a pilots club in my area, and use to have the pancake breakfast fly in's a couple times a year.
Little ? its 2800 feet. Perfect !
The Mooney seemed to have a bit of an adventure trying to climb out.
I love that tri-pacer haven't seen one of those for a long time
Looks like alot of fun! Nicely done!
Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you for watching! I’m currently working on a fun new video. I’m excited to share it
That is a giant runway for a Kitfox. I used to fly mine to model airplane fields.
Yep, the kitfox didn’t even need it
I'm in Wyoming. I was warned by tower of a small herd of tumbleweeds crossing the runway.
That is really funny. The USA is so diverse!
Good thing it wasn’t Pronghorns! I’ve seen tumbleweeds the size of an SUV in Shoshoni.
Even more challenging than Weirsdale from the other video. Thanks for posting!
Yes, much more challenging! Thank you!
Love the way she’s got both of you dressed up nice for the fly on, similar shirts,
Took off at night at Mineral Wells, TX (KMWL), and when I was 15 ft AGL, I flew right over a bunch of deer crossing the runway. I nearly bought it in a shower of venison.
Oh deer!
🦌🦌🦌🦌
Super chilled video! Love the aircraft, the grass strip, all the footage, thanks for sharing! Wish I had a home near an airfield like that!
Thank you for watching! I am happy you enjoyed it
Florida is the place to be 👌
Awesome video, folks
G'day from Sydney
You got a new subscriber 👊
I'm no pilot but that was a fast landing.
Hey, great videos and it’s nice seeing the place I did my training at. 1 year ago today I soloed at Apopka in N577TU the white and yellow Tecnam p92 on the easy side 15 lol
Congrats! I see that plane flying all the time. X04 is a fun little airport. I’ve seen so many cool airplanes there
The Mooney is beautiful!!!
Has Jimmy from Jimmy's world ever flown in and out of this airstrip ? Jimmy's a Great guy 🤠
Tortoise One! Hahaha It looks fun and warm. Great video!
Haha yeah that was a funny situation. Thank you for watching!
The irony of flying an RV-12 in / out of a 3,000’ runway and describing it as “sporty” and “challenging” while looking at a Queen Air that requires 3x the runway. Still a fun video to watch nonetheless
ahhh a Homedale Special at 6:55 (As in Homedale ID.)
Caution for wake turbulence behind the departing tortoise.
Nice paint job on your plane, btw.
Very nice video. I fly rc planes and helicopter's off to the left of where you landed at that strip
Thank you. I also love flying RC planes/helis. That field is perfect for that
@@FloridaFlying you should fly in on Sunday the 22nd if you can. We are having a rc fun fly.
The only plane I was interested in seeing taking off from the grass runway was that Queen Air...
Great video! Thanks
Love the Turtle! 🐢 😅
Cool!
Cool air strip. I don’t think I would like to be in the houses at the end of the runway.
Yeah, hopefully they at least like airplanes
Thanks, great vid!
Thank you!
Ever visit Jimmy's World at Plant City Airport? That would be epic!
That would be awesome! I’d accept an invite from him any day
That was cool. What was that "code-word" Redemption at the end between the two of you. Safe Landing? Mission Accomplished? Nice presentation.
Haha yeah about that…First landing was not so great, second landing was much better so I redeemed myself
Do you have a 360 camera on the left wing? Nice flight 2222V
Wow,,,,, started the video out with a "shell" game!
Hey every video ur amazing wife is less paniced! I call that a mega win.
You are always so supportive. Number 1 fan right here!!
Marion county represent, treetop flyers everywhere
Looks like a fun challenge!
But the wide angle distortion on the wingtip camera made it f
Look like you were flying sideways when fence lines and such were going past you. Wierd illusion!
Could do without the camera showing you and your "honey" too.
ALWAYS a crosswind at Apopka...
I've actually seen shorter airstrips in Alaska.
I think I would rather fly a helicopter in and out of that airstrip. It's like someone planted those trees at the end of the runway to make it more challenging.
#92👍👏👏Thanks! Cute place!
ERAU 80 CFIA&I ret
41 times more likely to die in auto than small plane 😮
How many incidents has that airport had? Lots of bushy pilot behaviors there are going to cause problems.
how do you find out about these meet ups?
Local EAA chapter and Facebook. SocialFlight is another great one
COOL
What if you have a tortoise on the runway when you're landing at night ???
Tortus said Wilco 😝
Better than removing a aligator from the runway.
Hey any idea if they will be doing this again this year? Cannot seem to find contact info email anywhere> Called Thomas the owner/mananger but have not heard back?? Thanks
What be the turtles intentions?
she seems bored
I wouldn't trust any small plane? 💥💀
Ich fliege mit der Walküre
What camera do u hv on the wing?
GoPro Hero 360. Films in all directions, then in post editing I can choose the angle. Perfect for aviation
I am trying to get my wife to fly with me in our Ercoupe. She doesn't like little planes.
you been down to arcadia for taco tuesday ?
Not yet, I really have to go. I will plan on making it there and filming a video. That would be fun!
@@FloridaFlying yea i heard it's really fun, im up by daytona and have to get the money together for the cfi and the plane to go :P
Taxi ends at 1:26.
@FloridaFlying >>> 👍👍
You grip on the stick seems too tight
I don't mean any disrespect at all, but when your wife mentioned keeping her dress tucked on takeoff, and then said "we got off really nicely", that made this video LMAO
Your plane is little anyway.
Haha, sure is
Should be no challenge at all for you if you would just learn to slow down on approach to the speed you you should be using in an RV-12.
Couldn't read the ASI in the video but I would guess you were somewhere around 70 kts, maybe even a bit more. If you would be starting the round-out to flair at about 50 kts you would only use 1/4 of the 3000 ' runway (at the most) instead of 3/4 ths of it.
I enjoy your videos, but would enjoy them even more if you should a bit less of what NOT to do.
Yeah this wasn’t my best, I am aware. I try to be at 55kts on final, maybe 60 if I have a passenger or am heavy. Lots of different visuals on this runway. Lesson learned
Always a Tom Cruise out there who complains about a mole hill or something!!!!!! Holy Crap Enjoy the Video!!!!!
Challenging??? Hmmmm....Don't try mine.
Where in Florida is this airstrip???
