I feel like Zel has been on the cusp of hitting the mainstream but just doesnt have enough cross appeal demographic wise. Taboo and Melt My Eyez (especially) demonstrated that he can put together a really high end product that a lot of people can enjoy, but because he doesnt really ever word things in a way that will be universally appealing it wont ever clear that hump unless he does. Thats not a bad thing either. Hes true to himself and doesnt mince words or cater to the grammy committee. If he ever does decide to he'll get it just like Killer Mike did lol

Chief Keef, Durk, Herbo, Digga D all make music that connects with a big enough fan base to make a living off of. And in Bibby's case he makes that off other artists that are superstars. LeBron helped push momentum for a lot of artists that started to pick up steam. I remember the early Kdot days pre-GKMC but post Section.80 where Black Hippy met up with LBJ outside Staples Center after Miami came into LA. And that was a big deal on niche blog sites like hotnewhiphop and even worldstar. Also when Benny came out with Johnny Ps Caddy, he literally bumped it in the whip while live streaming his IG. I think that somewhat helped Griselda get more noticed. And he does a lot of live streaming music he likes. I rememeber when he live streamed some songs off DAMN the week of its release.

Krit unfortunately got pigeonholed as a ‘southern’ artist and his last few projects suffer from excessive regional sounding filler. He needs to reinvent himself as an artist, build a new audience and start delivering innovative and exciting music - it’s all gotten very comfortable and predictable. He’s very creative and clearly still hungry (as per his latest collab with Sauce Walka) but needs to break free from the musical purgatory he’s in and he’ll do that with something fresh and innovative, all of his recent efforts just feel creatively spent.
If he can tap back in to the artistic direction of tracks like High Beams, REM, The Light, Banana Clip Theory, etc, I think he could finally get his much deserved Good Kid’ moment.

Can you guys cover KXNG Crooked (slaughterhouse) next? He IS easily the coldest bar-spitter alive, and has been in his entrepreneur bag of late! And man has he been putting in work!
    Some highlights since Slaughterhouse…
    - Going independent with his own label COB
    - went sober (8 yrs now I think)
    - dropped Good vs Evil & GvE2
    - Started his Crook’s Corner podcast
    - Dropped his insane #HipHopWeekly series where he freestyled over flipped classics week after week for the whole of 2018
    - KILLED recent features (Eminem, Russ, Locksmith, Hi Rez, Merkules among many)
    - Dropped several fire mixtapes
    - Dropped 5 albums with Joell Ortiz
The list goes on but I’ma stop doing y’all work now 😂 I know I sound like a Stan but mannn after a while you get sick of seeing some of our generation’s illest not get their just due. Seriously tho, yall should check out crook, thank me later.

I think the timing they mentioned was spot on when it comes to Glo. She came in the game when the market was really buzzing for women rappers and she’s been able to stick because she can make hits plus her personality is a huge selling point. Plus as a woman she has less competition to a degree because she can appeal to a specific part of the genre and still be big. Duke has a lot more bigger artist to compete with especially with younger male artist popping up every other couple of months.
