Awesome, thanks. Im looking at getting a 73 and I'm encouraged that I can manage some of the maintenance myself since there are no computers involved. Thanks for teaching these necessary skills to us noobs. We all have to start somewhere, right?
I assume that's a 455 being a 76, on mine the distributor electrical connectors face the opposite direction (passenger side), is the distributor on backwards? Maybe your firing order is backwards, it seems like it's running rough.
For Future Reference, The Plastic Front Wheel Wells Remove Quite Easily On Each Side. Making Access To The Engine Much Easier.
Good tip!
Unless you have fender flares.

You did not do a compression test!
Thanks for convincing me that taking the wheel wells out first is worth the effort!!
You bet!

Compression tester seems that it has no check valve working.
It could be. I've had this gauge for about 20 yrs.
First thing I noticed! I wouldn’t believe any reading it gave! A cylinder leak down test would be better.
Either the compression tester is broken or not screwed in tight to seal! When cranking, open choke and butterfly.
I want to sale mine in north fla.
Give it decent power. What about a Viper V 10 ?
I don't think a V10 would fit in it and how would you mount it up to the front wheel drive TH425 Transmission?

It's running better now. I think it got a bit flooded with me doing the compression test and I'm sure I hit the carb a few times.
No noise!!
turn up the speakers?
I've heard that the older engines dont like the newer ethanol rich gas. Do you run a stabilizer or water reducer? would that help anything?
i put a bottle of stabilizer but i'm going to use ethanol free from now one.
Where are you located. I need the same for my Motoerhome.
