  • Kenbu translates as 'sword dance' and is the name given to a traditional style of Japanese dancing with a katana sword and fan. During the feudal period, the samurai performed kenbu in order to hone their mental concentration and summon up strength before a battle.

those people in the background are being very rude. I wish they'd show some class and shut up! Very nice dance. Thank you for posting. It was an honor to watch.

Audience did not deserve this spectacular performance, but I sure couldn't look away. Those moments where he does that kabuki precision gaze thing....don't know how to describe it but when he does it about here 03:53 it gives me chills I'm pretty certain this guy really is a badass swordsman and it's a mistake to think of him as a dancer 😮🥰

I watch this and the other sword dance video to see how it’s done. It comes in handy when writing about Scaramouche/Wanderer.

It's the fact that we both came here for the same man. But yeah, I've been also needing this to visualize the synergy between a Japanese sword dance and other dances (because I love communicating through dance as a writer lmao)

This was beautiful... I loved it.
    Thanks for the upload.
Too bad people would still dare to talk during such performance.

I loved this so much. There was such a great flow in the movements of the performer. You could tell that he was very stable in his movements with an emphasis on where his center of gravity was and where the sword will stop/land.

It was THE moment for me when he sheathed the sword on the beat so cleanly

OMG, I would have lost my shit, never before have I seen such a pitiful display, not by the performer, but by the audience. So disrespectful. The performance was lovely 😊
