Super helpful, glad I found this. Any chance you can describe or post a video with more detail of how you use that rachet strap to compress the shock? Most come with big metal hooks that would be hard to pass through the spring. Did you just cut off those hooks and use the strap cloth material alone? Thanks!
Worked a treat! I tried to remove the shock- got stuck- googled- got to remove subframe….This method worked great! If changing preload, inly attempt from RHS of bike ( side covers off). I tried LHS and damaged threads on shock.
The ugly side mounts :) First !!! One of the bolts you are to use is to short, goes only half the threads and rips them out if you thork to spec. Two the spacers are to wide so they will bend the bolts in the alu holes, this so the shild don’t touch the plastic that is will do in time anyway or after first time you thighten the luggage. Cut them so shiealdngently touch plastic. (Plastic is cheap to replace, frame is expensive) So answer is SW-motech I have their rack on and it bent and colapsed, it was the only brand when I needed gear, wouldn’t buy it again, I emailed about the ripped thread, no answer. Why do you need the side shields? The Hemisphere saddlebags works just fine without side shields :) Hope you don’t mind me being honest :)
Why the hell i didnt do that instead taking the whole shock off.... Well im always learning... Well i did grease all the bushings in the swingarm and shock mounting points at the same time.
Following your example, i completed the replacement today. Excellent method and relatively easy. Thanks very much!
And an amazing bike :)

Took me time to understand to lift rear wheel, so I did it harder than needed as well...
Hello, can you post a link on where you bought the rear spring?
