Bay Area Insider: Visiting the Oakland Zoo was so cheerful it converted me forever

I went behind the scenes at the Oakland Zoo and had so much fun with the camels, monkeys, mountain lions and giraffes that I'm converted to a lifelong fan. Come along with me and you'll see why.

I've always loved the Oakland Zoo! Thanks for giving this local treasure a little exposure. It's a small, well kept zoo, that gives visitors a great variety of animals and interest, but on a scale that's not overwhelming; you don't feel that you've got to rush through to see everything. And it doesn't leave you exhausted at the end of a visit. Well done!

You think You had fun!? i worked maintenance there for 14 years!!! touched every inch of that place twice!!! most fun job EVER...never a dull moment and no 2 days were alike...cant pick a fave animal ,tho...loved them all,especially the kookaburras...chimps,not so much..there was one nice one tho...this brought awesome memory's...there goes Dr. Parrott on the easy go!!
