What if we Treated Adults Like We Treat Children

Sometimes we treat children as if they think like adults and feel differently. Actually, the opposite is true. Children think differently than us, but they feel the same. This video gives a reality check for how we treat children as we look at our own behavior through a new lens.

I can relate. My step-mother treats me like someone who's younger than me. I had turned 16 months ago. Today, I tried to show her a better way to get a pineapple ready for consumption. She refused to let me teach her because she knows a "better" way. All I have to do in my way is pound and roll the pineapple with pressure a few times and cut the top off. After that, all I have to do is pull out each bite-sized section with a blunt tool or my hand. It saves time that would have been used for cutting. However, my mother still refused, even after I showed her a video of how the technique I learned is done. I am already resenting due to me having been denied once again. Luckily, I have a dad who actually treats me like my age and I trust him a lot.

These are typical examples of how adults with Autism (and I'm not just talking young adults) are spoken to, where their non-autistic peers are not as it would be recognised as disrespectful.

Back from walking on the trail , while in the car , " Where is my Boom Box ? " Complain like a complete 4 year old . Turns out to be in the backpack

We do treat women like children, they have no responsibility for their actions and their feelings get put before facts on a national level.
