I haven't read that book No More Mr. Nice Guy (yet), but I can already assume what's in - from experience. I'll give an analogy. I used to play basketball every day, I'd never win. However, once I started being selfish, I started to win consistently.
Absolutely! This video is fantastic! 'The Hidden Truths Of Wealth' from Borlest could be the ultimate game-changer for beginners, like finding a golden egg among the rest.
Recently finished no more mr nice guy - incredible book. When you think you’re being ‘nice’ you’re actually inflicting harm on yourself & damaging those around you
No more Mr nice guy is one of the best books I’ve ever read in my entire life ! Cannot thank the author enough for helping break down the psychology of what was holding me back in life
my goal for 2024 is to find a goal, I know it's weird but for now, I want to find what I want in my life, find the journey that I want to get on, and find the goal. yup, that's why my goal is to find my GOAL.❤
Recently dived into 'Wealth's Loyal Companion: The Uncharted Path to Prosperity' and it's a revelation. It's a guide to a richer, fuller life. I was struck by the mix of real success stories and down-to-earth advice. It highlights how discipline and lifelong learning can transform your life. A must-read for anyone looking to grow in every aspect of life
Hey Ali, congrats to your 5 millions subscribers! I want to say thank you for changing my life. 4 years ago I saw your video which has changed me from being lazy, lying on the bed all the time, not knowing what to do.. to a person who starts sitting down, writing down all the goals, and achieving all of them! Now I am very passionate about my job and I have plenty of time doing what I want to do, going to gym, exploring a tons of interests. You update videos so frequently but there's not even once that i can't find things to learn from your videos. And you're so good at elaborating in a very gentle tone, being our examples, and showing us how we can adopt those ideas in life. You're definitely one of the best teachers ever. Thank you for creating this amazing channel. I really appreciate it. :)
Ive read 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' and as someome who always struggled with expressing his needs in relationships, I can confidently say that the book changed my Life.😊
I think Ali is making better videos on his nomad journey than when he was in the studio…..damn! What quality and authenticity. He seems to care less about the fancy “corporate metrics “ of sponsors and the numbers!💯💯
The fact that nobody mentions Nixorus and its ebook "Ancient Wealth Wisdom" speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance. It's the key to unlocking success, trust me on this.
I feel like for a lot of women the first mountain is actually the second one. We are raised to serve and please and be loving. Self, for us, is something that might come later or not come at all
Well said. When Ali was talking about how men are raised to sacrifice for others, I kept thinking "WHAT? That appears to be the opposite of the male experience, whereas the female experience is very much one of self-sacrifice in favor of others. How many men give up their careers for their family compared to women, for instance?".
@@saltycrunch Its not a competition - though I appreciate your insight. We all talk with our inherent biases even with the best of intentions so I'm sure Ali didn't intend to be dismissive of women's sacrifice. In terms of 'mens sacrifice' - they're more often expected to bring home resources, provide for the family and expect little in return. Of course, this isn't the experience of all men/women. Theres the macro, and then theres each individuals experience.
I totally agree!! For women, we sync into the committed life right off the bat! I am now in burnout, and craving AND NEED some first mountain experiences right now!!
People just want to know where the “easy” button is. They just want to know what one, specific step to take to get results. I appreciate your emphasis on process and commitment, regardless of immediate outcome. Well said!
Congrats on hitting 5 million! What you said, "There is no destination if there is no journey" reminds me of a book called The Principle of The Path. It was written by Andy Stanley, a pastor of a large Atlanta church, and while he does go into some faith elements, the book is mostly practical advice. The significant quote is, "Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination."
I am taking a moment to pause the video to just let you know that the overall video looks amazing. When I watch it, the background, the lighting, the colors of the furniture behind you, and the amazing view from the window all appear harmonious and calming. Good job, Ali! Keep it up.
The Second Mountain...Oh, man! You truly conveyed this book and your personal emotions in such a lovely and beautiful way. I couldn't help but immerse myself in your thoughts and emotions, feeling connected. Your words and expressions, especially in this book, have a delightful touch. You're doing a superb job, Ali Abdall. Much love to you. God bless!
Ali, I do not know if you are going to read this.... but I only want to say thanks for this kind of inspiration, from the heart. I could feel your real passion throuht every quote you shared in this video, and the light in your eyes. I felt really motivated to keep going with my creative work, and be able to climb the 2 MOUNTAINS.
I remained subscribed because you are inspiring but this is the 1st video of yours I’ve watched in probably a year. I don’t know if it’s just you or probably me (and the self growth journey you’ve inspired me to begin) but you sound different- more mature and secure. Thank you for still continuing to be inspiring to everyone.
I personally really like when a writer provides example of the things he's talking about in their book. Also was thinking about Atomic habits. Such a great book ❤️❤️❤️
Agreed! I especially love when writers bring in examples from other people. It's such a great way to get multiple perspectives in one book. Lots of the recent nonfiction books I've read do this; I find women authors are great at bringing lots of voices into the narrative.
The second mountain idea holds a lot of value. But what advice would you have for someone who had understood that life is about service and commitment to others at 17? Who lives a joyful and fulfilling life? But at the same time, feels empty regret for not achieving the goals she has for herself?
One great book I have read many years ago and find myself pulling it about once a year to review…It is The Power of an Hour by Dave Lakhani. Mainly, it is a how to focus on a goal. you allocate 1 hour to focus what you want, Then a week later, allocate another hour to identify roadblocks, how to remove them, …
@AliAbdaal: “Enjoy the process not the destination” is a philosophy written thousands of years ago as “Karmanye vaadhikraste maa faleshu kadach na” it means do your work, don’t expect returns. All these old adages now being re-packaged and are being re-marketed.
Congrats Ali on the big 5 million so well deserved! Definitely feel like i'm at the point where i'm just starting to slowly climb that second mountain.
How you express every detailed sentence in books (meaning, emotions, and related gestures) strongly validates my seeking of what truly matters. Thanks Ali!
This one made my smile in lots of moments. I feel like you're growing into a person I would love to meet one day. I have come to some these same realizations but it takes a few life experiences to be ready to listen to the words of these authors. They came a good time in your life Ali. Good luck, can't wait to see who you'll grow to be, again.
I love that you are very honest about your journey.. thanks for giving me the perspective of someone who has reached the top of the first mountain. I am at the second mountain but never reached the first quite fully.. I have a family but I sometimes feel conflicted with the time and energy I don't have to rush up that first mountain because of my role as a mother . Your perspective was really helpful .. thank you
There is a series of two books that compile all the wisdom and much more of the last three books Ali mentions here. It'a "The courage to be disliked" and "The courage to be happy", if you really take the time to understand the phillosophie and the psychology of these two books. Then those mentioned here will make a lot of sense intuitively. He has made a video on these before i believe they should be a "read first" disclaimer to every video of this kind :)
Really enjoyed the video. I can’t help but think it’s almost like a right of passage. It’s hard to not chase fame when you don’t have it. It’s hard to think money won’t make you happy, it’s hard to believe a Sixpack won’t bring you confidence. Keep up this style, thought provoking!
After 9 years as a Running Influencer on TH-cam, I almost can't pay attention because of how much I enjoy the editing and wish I had that ability or someone to do that for me lol
Missing out if you haven't delved into 'Step Up: Success Unlocked'-a treasure trove of practical guidance on crafting a prosperous routine. It underscores the crucial role of routine, discipline, and our environment in the pursuit of success. With discussions on motivation and the potency of daily habits, this book serves as a stellar source of inspiration for those seeking a fresh and improved start. Highly recommended.
I have been since you were a med student and I can genuinely say I have never seen you so in peace(?) I don't know if it will make sense, but you have got a new light! So happy for you.
it's SO resonating regarding not attaching myself with goals and achievements but rather focusing on the process and showing up! Congrats on 5M Sub - it's super 🥳
The strangest secret is an all time favorite I literally listened to this everyday for 2 months straight lol I could probably recite it from memory 😂 these others are ones I will definitely check out thanks for the reviews and cheers to changing our lives for the better in 2024 !
Even though I feel like you sometimes overcomplicate things, I do appreciate your constant encouragement and focus on improving the lives of others. Congrats on 5 mil!
I completely agree with how books change you!! I have seen so many people saying books don't really help. But it's mostly because they read the book and don't really spend time thinking about it and figuring out how to use the knowledge gained from the book in their life. Another thing I think is more important than reading more books is rereading a book which resonates with you. We could have implemented something from a book and revisiting it gives you more insights after trying to implement things. Your implantation becomes better.
I feel, there is so much to learn in a limited time. I had 'The Definitive Book of Body Language' planned to be read after my current read, but now I want to replace it with 'No More Mr Nice Guy'.
I never commented here before even though I watch almost every video on this channel starting from 2021 but this video, especially the last part about aesthetic life with the music background, touched my soul. I feel called out. Past few years I was focused on myself trying to build/find my 'self' and now I think more and more about serving people around. So the idea from book about the second mountain resonated with me. I feel seen and think that I am on the right way. Thank you.
⚡Congrats on 5M. Ali is really making a point of saying a book that changes life. Books give an idea on whatever eventually provides some results. Loved that. 👍
Oh man, all the second mountain stuff really resonated with me. I built a career, travelled, saw lots of friends, have an awesome Instagram, but have felt wholly without passion or purpose to the point of feeling like life itself was pointless. Building community, building roots and routines, and fulfilling projects and ideals is the answer. I’m still in the process of transitioning to the second phase of life, or climbing the mountain. That’s the theme for me this year. Climb the mountain (put in the work, suss out the things I need). Thank you so much for putting this wonderful content together, it means a lot 🙏
Ali - I, like you, read a million self help. book and listened to a million tapes. The main difference is I did it more then 50 years ago. I set goals as dictated by Hill, Nightengale and Zig Ziglar. I went to seminars, studied and. meditated on my directions and goals That works. I started my first Computer service company in LA a second in Chicago a software company, a computer service nationwide network, bought land, owned an airplane and helicopter built a few subdivisions…. The problem with setting goals is they are generally based on watching other people and assuming they are happy with what they are doing. In the world money seems to be the great motivator. Money is good but it doesn’t make you happy. So,obviously, you set the wrong goal, so. you set a new goal. The process begins again. If you come up with a way to set a goal, which is really a direction not a destination, hat guarantees happiness or satisfaction your on to something. You have to be happy on the journey not assuming arrival will solve all problems. Cheers.Terry
I'm DCAing in Pbatesltd as well. ETH heavier DCA and ALGO. I'm taking your advice and starting Google tomorrow with a 50 dollar purchase and continuing Microsoft and Apple. VTI and VOO on another app and longterm portfolio. Here we go family!
it's very nice to see a different background!!!! the more you post recent videos, the more i became wating to buy your bookit opens my perspective to see ppl moving in non traditonal rail(path)! thanks so much. you made me a learning lover 4 years ago! thank you!1
I agree to the fact that books change lives only when the learnings are applied in real life. Considering this fact, what books would you suggest to boost up the self esteem and confidence.
I love that you’re creating videos with the same (apparent) studio quality on your travels with minimal equipment as you were back in your fixed studio/filming setup! Fantastic job, and I actually find your videos have gotten better - don’t ask me why or what it is exactly, but I think this travelling is doing you good :) Oh and congrats on the 5M, by the way 🎉😁
I live in the second life and it's hard but very rewarding and fulfilling. Now I need to perfect how I express the happiness without the tiredness being always there because I love my life but I'm really bad at expressing how lucky I am.
It’s my second day in your channel, and I’m already in love with your work. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. You’re an awesome human being ❤
Ali, I cannot tell you how much value these videos are providing! From watching your previous video on life update, to this amazing video, I hope you can keep making this style of video.
Re first vs second mountain:I think people eventually have to suffer through the first mountain before they can climb the second mountain though. Furthermore, all advice is contextual based on who you are and where you are in life. Thanks for sharing.
Such a great video, thank you so much. Big congratulations on the 5M. You are truly the one who inspired me to take my life in a completely different direction. I started a channel, started freelancing, quit my job and school. And started doing things that I enjoy on the daily. Thank you so much, Ali. Hope I can shake your hand one day!
You eloquently explained how certain things can lead to results. By definition, that would make them life-changing. Also, when you started talking about goal-setting, it reminded me that I don't have my goals written down. If this video encourages me to write down my goals and change my habits so that I move in that direction, that would make this video life-changing too.
Congratulations Ali and the whole Team! Celebrate big! You all deserve it for sharing so much value in each video and everything you do. It is so inspiring to see.
So many of the great books I've read have been thanks to you sharing what you've read in your videos. So thank you! Only read one of these and am intrigued by the others. The to read list grows ever longer!
Ali, I've come across your videos a few times, but never subscribed. But everytime I see your videos, I leave with valuable information. My bad for not subscribing sooner man, you're a good dude.
I'm taking steps towards my "horizon Goals" and every day I'm disciplined to show up and do the work and focus on the process! Thank Ali for your great help! Keep it coming! and Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
I discovered your channel today. I am actually reading The second mountain as we speak. I am definitely in the valley. But I know where I want to go and I have written down goals recently. For the first time ;)
New to your channel (somehow missed seeing the juggernaut!), but I appreciate your straightforward approach. Your videos are slick but remain sincere - a refreshing balance in the context of the dire marketing ploys people use throughout TH-cam.
I think the second mountain is great for all those who were lucky enough to "fast track" success in their career and need to find meaning outside of work. The second mountain is basically what I would call New Game+ for everyone who did a speedrun through the 1st part of life.
Good stuff Ali. I'm a couple years in now at following your content, And it legitimately seems to keep getting better. Reading the segments of the book felt like foreshadowing to a text to speech app trained on your voice. I can see hitting play on an audio reader as I go to bed and listening to Ali Abdaal read me a book. Maybe even that one about increase productivity when you feel good. 😯
Congratulations on 5 million subscribers. You inspired me from the beginning to study medicine, improve myself and learn, and I am very grateful to you and for every effort you have made in the past. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💜
My heart goes to the entire community for PbatesLTD building up something even my grandpa can understand. This is so smart by them to launch it to shatter the doubts and fears of the common folk which is not even correct to begin with. Everyone knows the state of inflation and recession now and the way out is already in progress. Now it's just about catching the big fish

it's very nice to see a different background!!!! the more you post recent videos, the more i became wating to buy your bookit opens my perspective to see ppl moving in non traditonal rail(path)! thanks so much. you made me a learning lover 4 years ago! thank you!1
I agree to the fact that books change lives only when the learnings are applied in real life. Considering this fact, what books would you suggest to boost up the self esteem and confidence.
I love that you’re creating videos with the same (apparent) studio quality on your travels with minimal equipment as you were back in your fixed studio/filming setup! Fantastic job, and I actually find your videos have gotten better - don’t ask me why or what it is exactly, but I think this travelling is doing you good :)
Oh and congrats on the 5M, by the way 🎉😁
I live in the second life and it's hard but very rewarding and fulfilling. Now I need to perfect how I express the happiness without the tiredness being always there because I love my life but I'm really bad at expressing how lucky I am.
It’s my second day in your channel, and I’m already in love with your work. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. You’re an awesome human being ❤
Really big congratulations on reaching 5 million subscribers.Keep going!🎉
Hope I can shake your hand one day!
for me it has been
*The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson*
You eloquently explained how certain things can lead to results. By definition, that would make them life-changing. Also, when you started talking about goal-setting, it reminded me that I don't have my goals written down. If this video encourages me to write down my goals and change my habits so that I move in that direction, that would make this video life-changing too.
Your 5M is well-deserved. You're not only smart, but a really hard working person too.
Congratulations Ali and the whole Team! Celebrate big! You all deserve it for sharing so much value in each video and everything you do. It is so inspiring to see.
Ali honestly speaking, you changed my life.
My bad for not subscribing sooner man, you're a good dude.

congratulations on the 5 M subscriber, the book "The Strangest Secrets" touched my soul, thank you so much for this value
I have been watching Ali from 2019 till now. He has transformed my life. From Afghanistan ❤
Needed that “No More Mr Nice Guy” suggestion. Been looking for something like this for a long time! Ty
Been watching a long while but really enjoyed this. More depth. Thanks.
That second mountain has got to be the best one. Once again, great video!
For the first time ;)
When i watch Ali Abdaal's videos, i think (sometimes) "Do they speed up the video?"
And it is awesome
New to your channel (somehow missed seeing the juggernaut!), but I appreciate your straightforward approach. Your videos are slick but remain sincere - a refreshing balance in the context of the dire marketing ploys people use throughout TH-cam.
I listened to your video’s voice as i do with podcasts on a 0.75 speed and it was so calming 👍🏻
I think the second mountain is great for all those who were lucky enough to "fast track" success in their career and need to find meaning outside of work. The second mountain is basically what I would call New Game+ for everyone who did a speedrun through the 1st part of life.
Congratulations on this remarkable milestone, and thank you for being a constant source of inspiration in the TH-cam community!
Thank you for this video, I am delighted.
I also recommend that you look at this book, you will be shocked by the information you will read there.
I should say you introduced me to a lot of books that changed my life :) Thank you
Good stuff Ali. 😯
Yes, books can change lives. Like you said, an idea propels change.
Thank you!! Great list!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Oh please do an interview with David Brooks! ❤
Thank you so much for all the years and the book 📕 in the right time 🤍
Thanks for all the recommendations but it is crazy that you didn't mention 150+ self help books called Antozent
Your book reccomendations are always great. Some of the life changing books I read were the ones you reccomended. Thank you brother.
The Practice is great.
If you want something easier to read with a similar theme, The War of Art is a fantastic book.
I completely understand the theory of a book changing your life. For me it was Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
Congrats Ali for 5M Subscribers!
What a great book recommendations thanks Ali...!!!!
