In the US, PXG is an absolute no-brainer choice (especially if you qualify for 'hero' prices). Currently they will fit you for just $25 (1 full hour session in person) and that investment applies to the price of the clubs if you decide to buy. PXG is full customization including choosing specific irons in the set, loft, lie, grip sizes, and multiple shafts (several at no extra cost). Currently Takoma website is only sold as 4-PW so getting gap & sand wedges are an extra $99 . This narrows the real-world cost difference for most average golfers who are ditching the 4 (and often 5) irons in favor of easier to hit hybrids. I have no connection to PXG except being a firm skeptic who bought a set to replace my Callaways after a fitting and A vs B TrackMan testing (PXG's more forgiving and 1/2 club longer at same loft).
PXG, anywhere outside the US, are an overpriced ‘boutique’ brand. A set of 5-GW is €1050. For game improvement irons they’re not anywhere close to Takomo in terms of price which are less than half that.
For the average golfer having tons of shaft options imo is overkill ,I'm sure the 6 options Tokomo offer there will be one that fits , the most important of the options will be the weight of the shafts and most golfers know if they need a heavier shaft or lighter shaft due to their swing speed . Every year I play between 10 - 20 sets of different irons , flexes and weights ( I have access working in a golf store )and shoot the same scores ( I play to a 6 .4 index ) I'm getting older now , 60 and this year have played senior graphite 60 grams to D.G s300's which are 130 grams , with the heavier options I take out the 4 iron and add a 5 hybrid to maintain launch and distance , if your younger error to the heavier stiffer shafts and if your older error to the lighter softer flexes and remember you can order soft or hard stepped if you don't want to drop a full flex , and yes there will be exceptions but from what I have experienced this is a good guide for most players.
Agree. Average golfers should be spending more money on lessons and more tine practicing than on gear. Consistency is what it's all about and until you're consistent, your clubs will have minimal input.
@@joestuart914 Your average golfer is off something like 16. Regardless of whether they have been fitted or not they aren't consistent enough to have the club on a consistent plane or path. Grooving a better swing will give them far better results than a new set of clubs. Bad workmen blame their tools. If you get fitted first before lessons then your swing and everything is associated with it is going to nullify that fitting as your swing becomes better and therefore will no longer be fitted to you. Just because you are fitted, doesn't mean that is you fitted for good, as golfers get better and worse your fitting will not necessarily be right for you, especially if you aren't very good to begin with. If you're off an average handicap, you're probably better with a half set of clubs and actually learn to hit a ball properly.
I might be trippin but Takomo offers a pretty large number of shaft options, as well as shaft length. Gotta click on "customize your order" under the add to cart button.
Thanks again for your videos that included the Takomo line...one correction to what you mentioned here, you CAN get custom built irons from Takomo...I had been fit by PING and used my PING fitting (R flex, 1/2 inch over length, one degree upright) to custom order my Takomo 101s, which arrived today...Takomo has the KBS as its standard shaft but also has another steel option, as well as a Fujikura graphite option, which is what I went with in R flex...it DID take a long to get them delivered and I suspect it was due to the customization...that being said, I'm excited to try them out and they look great, especially given the ridiculously low price of the 101s...Takomo should give you a commission..cheers!
I'll definitely be putting the Takomo 101's in my bag before end of the year. The Takomos are highly customizable. A dozen shaft options, here in the US, plus you can select lie, length and grip size. Plus I love the clean look of them.
@@ExceptionalPleb No. I'm booking a fitting with a local pro to get my specs so I can customize them properly. I haven't been fitted for clubs in about 10 years, and I know I've lost some speed, so I'll need different shafts (even considering graphite). Also, I don't think my swing is as upright as it used to be. I'll probably order them by end of January, so they're delivered by end of March.
I play the Takomo 101s and they are sweet. Distance and dispersion are not a problem with these irons. And the shaft choices are enough. If you want a specific or special shaft you can opt for the heads only choice.
I got the 101s for 469€. That is unbeatable. I luv these irons. Constistency has gone up quite a bit and the looks is filling me with awe. Best clubs I ever had.
I play the pxg xcore2 irons and they are awesome , I have also the gen4 0311xp irons and I actually prefer the xcore2 irons , it's hard to tell that there not forged and they are very hot off the face. I love the new head size which appears smaller than the xp irons or last year's 0211 irons.
I was basically debating between PXG XCOR2 and continuing use of my Wilson C100s. I went with the PXG irons, as I also took advantage of 0311 Drivers sale, and $50 fitting cost for all. The PXGs are basically a club up from the Wilsons (if I said that right). The XCOR2 4 iron matches the loft of my C100 3 iron. I feel like the PXG loft dispersion will give me wider flexibility among other advantages. I'm really hoping I see improvement / a better fit to my game. I'm also going from a Ping G10 driver to the 0311 XF. I'll let you know how it all goes. I will add that the fitting experience was great.
I am currently playing Wilson Ci11's and thinking of the PXG XCor2's as well. I have loved my Ci11's the past 8 years and scared to switch. LOL. I am glad they come in black since my Wilsons are as well and love the look.
One other point to mention, you can just buy 6-PW for the PXG while Takomo doesn't give you that option. Per club PXG is more expensive but if you don't need the 4 & 5 irons, they work out to be more or less the same price.
I feel like paying the same price but getting 2 less clubs shouldn't be labeled like a good thing though. You are still put in the same situation as you were in before. Not getting the longer irons is understandable as some don't play those clubs and others use certain irons for those jobs but I don't think that this is something pxg has over Tokomo. Tokomo is a very new company compared to all the rest, they will throw out more options with more customizability sooner or later.
Nice comparison! Thanks! Takomo has currently 3 but soon 5 iron sets - the 101, 201, 101T, 301, and 301 CB. They also have a bag available, and the Skyforger forged wedges, with 4 lofts available. Apparently, they have a driver coming out soon.
I received my 101’s last Thursday. They’re absolutely fantastic sticks! I’m pretty long and just got 2 clubs longer. 230 yard 4i will take some getting used. Beautiful height and workable to my surprise. Thank you foe love the great content. Fairways and greens to you my friend 😀.
PXG, at least here in the US, now offers a 60 day money back guarantee. That's a pretty solid selling point. I'm really liking what PXG are producing and really leaning towards getting the new PXG 0211 XCOR irons.
Just got fitted and picked up the PXG 0211 Irons, and I love them. Getting fitted regarding shaft length and the right graphite shaft for me made a huge difference.
Just got a set of 101s, really like them so far. Takomo currently has 14 shaft options fir 101 and custom fittings for lenght, lie and grips, so I dont se much the average golfer cannot get with that. Also they have wedges and are bringing out wood soon, so if its a preference you can soon build a full bag.
I’m in discussion with Takomo now. They are fabulous to work with. Many emails to narrow irons, shafts, lie, blood 🩸 type If you have your specs…it helps. James Robinson & Chris Dennis liked the 101T’s & the 301 blades Only $50 to ship to USA 🇺🇸 and all tariffs are factored into the price. $589 + $50 = no way! Titleist wants $1,300 for their T100’s After going back and forth with my ego…I’m buying the 101T’s w/KBS Tour Lite Stiff
Got the 101s. Very happy with my choice. I did look at PXG but didn't see the point in paying more. Went with the 105 tour shafts which seem to work out fine. Is this the standard 101 model you have here or the 101T? Mine were £525 all in when I got them in April.
The Takomo 101 irons have been in my bag for almost 2 years now. I still absolutely love them. My next set of irons will be Takomo, probably a couple years from now. I'm excited to see what the 2024 Tacomo irons look like.
I have both the the 0211 DC and the Xcore irons. I think the XCore are enough of an improvement to justify purchasing the new model. I like them both but the new model has a slightly better feel and the ball flight is higher and distance is somewhat farther.
For the price conscious you should look at previous models or pre-loved. I picked up brand new Z785s (4-PW) 2 years ago, $600 (AUD) about £350 and havent found anything better since... Ive had Ping i200 2nds and Apex CF19 2nds and sold both for what I bought for, Im not greedy 😉 The retailers mark up is huge..
I looked at both clubs and purchased the PXG 0211 DC irons. PXG fitting was free and I could purchase any number of clubs. I chose 6-GW at $100 CDN a club, 2 degrees flat and 1/2" short. The fitter had it narrowed down to 3 different graphite shafts and PXG grip options. Delivered to my door in 15 days from Scottsdale, AZ. Takomo clubs are 4-PW no options unless you buy just the heads and no lie adjustment. The steel and graphite shaft options were limited. The fitting option does not exist except for their online system so you have to know your specs. If you know a good fitter you could buy just the heads and have them built. I would be paying for a 4i & 5i but not using them as I use a 3 & 4 hybrid. I would like to test the Takomo irons as they look very good but no one in my area had them .
I purchased the 0211, the newest look. For me as I get closer to 60 the stronger loft of the PXG irons allows me to get more out of my irons throughout the bag. I am back to hitting a 9 iron 145 I was using a 7 iron for the same distance with my old Steelheads. They have put enough weight at the bottom to add height to your shot. Feel like I am back in control of my mid iron distances. I have not played the Tokomo, but I can tell you I would purchase these PXG irons again.
I own the 101's since release. I got them with my prefered shaft and they are, without question, the most consistent irons I have owned. They are as good as the TM clubs they are styled after & the price is just the icing on the cake. The irony in your review is I have a PXG 0211 driver, so it is a great mix. PS - My 101's are two seasons old now & the finish is still like new so I can attest they are durable too.
There is also the option of just purchasing the heads and put in the shafts desired. So that likely compares to PXG with fitting and a custom recommended shaft.
we just ordered my wife a set of PXG XCOR2 irons. She hit them great and said she couldn't tell much of a difference over my Gen5xp clubs. I can't want to try one out... See how they compare to the much more expansive clubs. Shes only 5'3 so she had to have custom fitted clubs for her over the stock wilson set she has... She needed a stiffer shaft as her swing speed keeps going up.
i was going to get the takomo's, but they were backordered. Turns out, pxg put in a fitting facility close to my house. I went to get fitted and they'll be here this week. Love them!
I did buy the PXG XCOR2 on sale direct for $75 a club. I don’t see how a club can feel any better. I have the forged Ben Hogan ApexEdge set as well! Takomo is A very good and affordable option. Thanks Andy
Thanks to your convincing an impressive video on the Mizuno JPX 921 hot metals earlier this year I have them in my bag and I’m absolutely delighted and won’t budge. If I had to choose between these two I will definitely go PXG if I was starting from scratch. They look delightful and the price is really not that bad. I’m glad you reviewed these because I was just curious after seeing another TH-cam friend of yours reviewing Takomo irons several times how they would stack up directly against a close competitor. Well done Andy!
This was the comparison I was looking for. Thanks. However, the Gen 3 0311’s are now priced the same as the 0211 xcor2. How would you compare these two and which do you prefer and why? Thanks
I just had a fitting and got to compare the Gen 3 0311 vs 0211 XCor2. The Gen 3 0311 XP and 0211 XCor 2 performed similarly for me. I went with the 0311 P as they had that “clouds parting, heavenly light, angels singing” feel and performance.
@@stevemacquisten605, the Gen 3 0311 Ps worked for me. I hit slightly more consistent than my current irons with the 0211 XCor 2 and 0311 XPs. They felt better but nothing crazy. The 0311 Ps were consistent and distance was not an issue with my swing speed. The 0211 XCor 2s could be great for you, the 0311 XPs may be better, the Gen 4 or 5 may be better. For me personally, the Gen 3 0311 Ps just came together. My dispersion and distance were amazing.
Very interesting and appreciated! I'd been leaning towards PXG (now that I'm a "senior" golfer) but I'm always drawn to the siren call of value -- which on the surface argues for Takomo. Trouble is, I don't know my ideal lie angles, optimal shaft etc. I had all of those set on my Mizuno MX-23's I got almost 20 years ago -- and then I realized they're still in great shape, my game has improved (finally down to 9 handicap) and my fall flight is straight and true if a bit shorter than I used to hit. The absolute best value for me, then, is to keep playing what I have but if I were going for new, I'd go PXG 'cause of the low cost club fitting and customizing my set -- I don't need a full iron set; fairway woods or hybrids fill the gaps from driver down to 6 iron for me!
I've watched quite a few videos on shaft flex. Quite a few blind ones too, including yourself. Most had no idea except for the tour flex stiff shafts. Which naturally are quite heavy and should be able to be felt. But normal through stiff no one had a clue. For mine it's got a lot more to do with the club head weight and what you like to feel through the swing.
I'm personally in favor of the fact that Takomo sells heads only as an option. Regarding customization, if you look at it from that perspective, MY custom options is better than PXG's and still a lot cheaper.
Are the 6 options online the only options that actually fit the takomos? Or will any shaft work if you just get the heads and get fitted for other shafts not available online?
@@CallMeSlavik Just match the bore size (or smaller) of the head to the shaft you want. (e.g. .370). You will have to contact Takomo to find out what it is.
I got the heads from the Takomo 101s-- swapped them out for some other DTC irons with TT Elevate 95 shafts. I plan to use as a travel set. They seem perfectly fine. I don't know if the UK get the um, interesting TXG commercials, which were a turnoff to me (along with the extreme loft jacking and extra length of shaft to justify its distance)
I have been considering the PXG 0211, Takomo 101 and Sub 70 699's. If I had to pull the trigger today, I'd buy the 2021 Dualcor PXG's. They are still selling for $79/club in the US till the end of August. I think I can work with the stock shafts, but will get custom fit at one of the clubs here in town (if I go for it).
sub70 direct to consumer brand now has a custom fit uk site so they can fit you in person and you still get the direct to consumer price. Wonder what your thoughts on sub70 are if you have tried them, I'm sure you have obviously.
After watching your review I ordered the pxg but only ordered a 6 iron. They offer a military discount which I appreciate plus this month free shipping so only cost $109. I'll let you know what I think.
I currently have the 0211DC’s in the bag, 6 - GW and am happy with the performance. I was looking at the Takomo’s but decided against them for another reason. I believe that with the well known PXG brand, if I chose to resell the 0211’s, due to displeasure, I could recoup most of my investment. Here in Canada, little is known about the Takomo’s and I’d probably experience a considerable loss if I was to sell them.
I don't get it. Allegedly, the resale value -- IF you decide to resell the Takomo irons, which may be a doubtful proposition --- is less, so don't buy them. But they are less expensive to begin, so where is the loss?? I cannot see that that situation -- i.e., less expensive at first and lower subsequent resale value -- is any different than it would be for any product. In short, you saved your money up front.
@@michaeloja8589 I think what the guys are talking about is immediate resale, ie: within the year or less, you just cant get along with them, then you will find the PXG will hold their value, maybe you lose 20-30%, whereas the Takomo you might lose upwards of 50%, but also the time/annoyance cost - the PXG will pretty much be snapped up if you put it at a half decent price, whereas you might be advertising the Takomo for a long time trying to find a buyer, and you might only attract tire kickers who make stupidly low offers. Ive bought and sold alot of clubs as im a club ho and love trying new things, and i can say Ping are such an easy brand to sell, whereas my cobras/taylormade took a little longer (despite being much newer models) and my current gamers Srixon i feel will be more difficult as well, and will subsequently sell for steeper discount. Its like Scotty Camerons... i dont think they are the best putters on the market by any stretch, but the brand is so strong, even 5+ years old they sell for only a small discount and generally are snapped up no problem. Now try selling a Sik or LAB golf putter - you'll find its a much longer odyssey ;), and you'll likely lose a fair bit on what you originally paid.
I have been seeing Takomo videos and ad pop up all over my social media pages. I have a PXG Gen5 driver and was interested in the two options. The price of the Takomo is what has peaked my interest in them. But the custom fitting of the PXGs make those tempting as well.
Another advantage of PXG is they will give you an over the phone fitting, i know not as good as an actual fitting but better than nothing. You also get a money back guarantee from PXG if you are not happy with your clubs. I also think you will get most of the £150 price difference when you come to sell your irons, not sure Takamo will fetch much in the used market. For me it would be an easy choice, PXG all day long.
Just received my XCORE2’s in black a few days ago. I also have the original 0211’s. They both feel really good. My XCORE2’s have the senior shaft. Works perfect for me
@@Kylez1212 I’ve played with them twice so far. Great feel and the ball just bounces off the club. It just sounds different. I hit around 20 yards further on average per club. But that may because of the senior shaft on this set. Hope you like them. Let me know…
I started playing about a year ago using my late father in laws unused Petron clubs but have since bought some used mizuno mx-25 irons (which I love) and a used ping g30 driver that I have finally got consistent with. So here's my questions. . I have gaps (I'm not happy with) in my bag between 190yrds to pin and 80 to pin. Hoping from some less than average golfer recommendations
The 101's are on my shopping list, but...I'm an older golfer, wanting to get back in the game after retiring. I use to be a decent golfer but will be looking for a new set of clubs after being idle for almost 10 years. So my thought, I probably want to have some advice and possibly see a person that can identify and custom a set of clubs that will fit my body, strength, swing pattern, etc, Everything I've read about the 101's I'm impressed with.
I am more interested in very forgiving irons, but I have thought of buying a Takomo to just test it out since the price is reasonable and they do offer a Fujikura Atmos Red shaft in a senior flex which I have already tried and liked a lot. To be honest though they are almost too plain looking for me. I know a lot of people like that look, but I prefer them with more stylish stampings like those on the Callaway Rogue ST or TaylorMade Stealth irons - both of which I recently purchased to try.
If u ever get the chance to try the c722 irons from tour edge go for it honestly I can't remember a iron that felt as gd .I'm gonna try the takomo before I buy though just from the feedback everyone's been giving
Well, what about the Takoma 201s that you played last week? Where do you fit those in compared to 101 & 0211 if you take price out of it? I have 0211 currently so very curious
Both very nice looking irons, both very similar to the ping i500. I've seen a few reviews about Takomo, people seem to really like them. I think I would pay the extra and go for the pxg.
Love the videos as I am an average golfer myself. Do you plan to review the Obsidian graphite shafts in the Takomo irons that they are offering now? I have been looking for graphite and noticed this option but can not find much information on them.
I was expecting more of a playing comparison. You showed ball flights but no discussion about yardage performance, play feel, consistency or forgiveness of miss-hits, etc.
So what kind of shafts are on the clubs used in this video???? Yes, im looking for new clubs to replace mizuno mx-200 y-tune that I've used for years. I am also cost conscious.
I game the 0211 s. Not the score the first iteration of them. I love them no reason to change. If I do score is where I’ll look. I love pxg plus live in Scottsdale right by the headquarters so it’s all good. Great video lots of good info.
As far as lie angles go. Unless you are fitted in person you can not get a true proper lie angle. It is called dynamic lie angle, which is done by swinging the club and having the sole of the club hitting a lie board and then adjusted according to where the mark is on the sole.
The Sub 70s look good, but not for long. I have seen several sets of 699s up close with less than one season on them and honestly they look beat. Not a factor if you don’t care, but if you do, be wary.
I've got the XP,got them 2 weeks ago and hitting greens on par 3 with 7 iron that in the years playing that course have never hit. I'm loving my gen 3 xp
Hi Andy, I have been looking at both of these sets, have you tried the new Takomo 101T, are they different to the 101's, I gave seen James & Chris testing and grey are impressed. I believe there is around a £45.00 delivery and an import tax which takes the Takomo into £600/640.00, for the difference, its got to be 0211's for me.
Both of these are absolutely on my shopping list as well as the Sub70’s or possibly a previous generation of PXG’s premium clubs like the gen 4’s but are basically out of stock.. 🤔🤔🤔
i have PXG irons, not the model your reviewing, but I really like there clubs, and Brian is right the trade in price is not going to be great with Takomo. You hit it on the head, you were custom fitted for the PXG's and i think we need to have "Iron Byron" hitting the clubs to get an idea of the differences between the two. If your beginner I would go with the Takomo due to the price and playability, for my money it's PXG
Interesting video. Those Takomo irons look lovely. Had a look at their website and found the custom fit options to be quite good. Lots of shaft. More than i originally thought after watching this. Certainy for a reasonably newby to the game who wants something new but doesn't want to spend a tonne. 7 irons for less than £400. I looked in my spec of 2 degree upright and half inch longer with the KBS tour 120g shaft. That's mega value. Had a look at the PXG. Did the same spec as the Takomo and £950 for 7 irons. Well thats a massive difference. If they are a direct to consumer model i'd be wanting to try them out for that and i don't think from the video you liked the PXGs much more than the Takomo. I'm wondering If i missed something in your video or wasnt getting it but their websites were very different in price to what you said. £550 difference. Which is significant
I noticed the price difference too. The original PXG Dualcor came out to $553, the new xCor2 set came out to $903. I believe there's also a $39 per club upcharge if you want the KBS shafts, which totals $1176. That's quite a bit higher than the Takomo set.
@@joegvoll1945 yeah i noticed the same. Big price difference between the 2 sets. More than double. Think what you could get with the saving get going for the 101s. James Robinson hopefully is going to do a comparison between the Mizuno 225s and the 101Ts. Now that will be an interesting comparison.
As a side note, I've always thought the Takomo 101's were suspiciously similar to the Ping I500s. The color is different but the shapes and the build (no inner foam, face welded on, 17-4 stainless steel) are very similar.
@@danjanyja They'll build them for you too. I'm always a bit surprised that component companies that have been around for quite a while that offer extremely good value whether it be that they sell just the components for the buyer to assemble or the clubs pre-assembled and customized are rarely mentioned. Companies like Hireko and Golfworks have been doing the DTC gig for a while but don't get the love. Don't get me wrong....companies like Hogan (RIP), Tacomo, Sub70, New Level, and Haywood are a quality less expensive alternative to the big boys, I have a full set of Hogan's that I really like after all, but Golfworks has some excellent forged options, and quality cast clubs for extremely competitive prices. Hireko (Dynacraft) has gotten away from forgings, but they have very serviceable, affordable cast irons along with very reasonably priced drivers, FW's, hybrids, etc. If you really want to go slumming, Diamond Tour Golf can set you up with an array of serviceable clubs for about as budget oriented as imaginable.
If I look at both of them, the results are good because you have a good swing, maybe you can use a mid handicap player to test the two products so that viewers can see how the results are when used by a mid handicap player.
The thing about PXG for me it is USA made, a bit more importantly you order them you get them when they say they get them! I do I do love the look of numerous
Another great video, Thanks Andy. Swing is looking good by the way....those were some nice shots! Looks like you were even working the ball a little bit with these cast hollow-body irons. Good to see.

NORM!!!!
Have you bought them yet? Any feedback?
@@ExceptionalPleb No. I'm booking a fitting with a local pro to get my specs so I can customize them properly.
I haven't been fitted for clubs in about 10 years, and I know I've lost some speed, so I'll need different shafts (even considering graphite).
Also, I don't think my swing is as upright as it used to be. I'll probably order them by end of January, so they're delivered by end of March.
@@normlang1994 NAH DON'T BE WIMP, STICK WITH STEEL SHAFTS LOL
I bought Xcores with the 0211 driver. Love them. Reminds me of my old Titleist 962 irons.
How about the "just buy the heads" option for Takomo? It seems like that would provide a custom fit option.
If you need the lie adjusted up or down, Takomo does not offer this option if you buy just the heads.
My friend told me the same thing, He told me not to buy the Gen4, either go to the Gen5 or the 0211's. Why?
I bought my Takomo 101’s with customization (+1” and 2 degree upright lie) for $510. Delivered to me in California was $560 total.
I was gonna say, this must be an outdated review because Takomo def does some customization, shaft and lie.
For me PXG. 1. Fittings 2. Be able to choose how many clubs I need to buy. 3. Better brand.
here in Canada I can choose 1 iron or all the way up to a full set , so I guess you are not getting the full club selection oh ya 14 shaft options
You can now order whatever setup you
Need 4-P, 5-P, 6-P, etc… whatever you want. I do wish they had a gap wedge that matched the sets however.
Great Video. I'm looking at some Sub70 irons and making a 3hour drive for a fitting, similar price to Takomo with the added extra of a fitting.
If you were to compare the 0211 DC to the Takomo 101s (about the same price point) which would you prefer?
Nice comparison! Thanks! Takomo has currently 3 but soon 5 iron sets - the 101, 201, 101T, 301, and 301 CB. They also have a bag available, and the Skyforger forged wedges, with 4 lofts available. Apparently, they have a driver coming out soon.
It will be good to see the brand develop
@@TheAverageGolfer I agree! Thanks again!
I have heard that they also will be unveiling a driving iron (18 deg) this summer.
Purchased Takoma 101’s today. I’ll update you soon. Thank you for the honest assessment of both sets of irons.
Good luck Jay
I received my 101’s last Thursday. They’re absolutely fantastic sticks! I’m pretty long and just got 2 clubs longer. 230 yard 4i will take some getting used. Beautiful height and workable to my surprise. Thank you foe love the great content. Fairways and greens to you my friend 😀.
PXG, at least here in the US, now offers a 60 day money back guarantee. That's a pretty solid selling point. I'm really liking what PXG are producing and really leaning towards getting the new PXG 0211 XCOR irons.
Yep it’s a big selling point
Most only offer that for standard specs. Is that how the pxg are as well?
Just got fitted and picked up the PXG 0211 Irons, and I love them. Getting fitted regarding shaft length and the right graphite shaft for me made a huge difference.
Just got a set of 101s, really like them so far. Takomo currently has 14 shaft options fir 101 and custom fittings for lenght, lie and grips, so I dont se much the average golfer cannot get with that. Also they have wedges and are bringing out wood soon, so if its a preference you can soon build a full bag.
Yes agreed as long as they know there requirements
Seriously looking at the Takomo 101 & 101t..
Think the Takomo are much nicer to the eye than the PXG . Just wish I go try before I buy
I’m in discussion with Takomo now. They are fabulous to work with.
Many emails to narrow irons, shafts, lie, blood 🩸 type
If you have your specs…it helps.
James Robinson & Chris Dennis liked the 101T’s & the 301 blades
Only $50 to ship to USA 🇺🇸 and all tariffs are factored into the price. $589 + $50 = no way! Titleist wants $1,300 for their T100’s
After going back and forth with my ego…I’m buying the 101T’s w/KBS Tour Lite Stiff
I'm excited to see what the 2024 Tacomo irons look like.
have they held up well?
Yes, they are still in my bag and still look amazing. Two of my friends recently bought a set and they love them too. Best irons for the price ever.
What's durability like?
@@phildavis1825 They are still in my bag and are very durable
I have both the the 0211 DC and the Xcore irons. I think the XCore are enough of an improvement to justify purchasing the new model. I like them both but the new model has a slightly better feel and the ball flight is higher and distance is somewhat farther.
Me too.
For the price conscious you should look at previous models or pre-loved. I picked up brand new Z785s (4-PW) 2 years ago, $600 (AUD) about £350 and havent found anything better since...
Ive had Ping i200 2nds and Apex CF19 2nds and sold both for what I bought for, Im not greedy 😉
The retailers mark up is huge..
How many clubs came with your set the website does not specify how many clubs you will receive Thanks
@@luisorta7459 I was wondering the same thing and it's 4-PW
It is, like GolfSidechick says, 4-PW, but since the 4i is so strongly lofted, I don't have it in the bag. I have a 21degree hybrid instead.
Put the pxg in the bag ! And loved them ! 57 years old now got the distance and control from the pxg’s and filled the entire bag.
I own both Takomo's 101t and 201 and I have found that They are even better than my previous Mizuno irons.
Wow big praise indeed
Which one do you like more? I’m deciding between them both currently
@@Mytro34 201 definitely feel better but you have to choose the right shaft for both these two irons or just order the head only. Good luck
i was going to get the takomo's, but they were backordered.
Thanks Andy
Please compare the 0211 xcor2 steel shaft vs graphite shafted!
Same here. Gaming JPX 921 HM irons, but wouldn’t mind trying those PXG 0211’s
Thanks Deceptive. That is interesting feedback. Sounds like I should go for a fitting…
You can buy heads only from Takomo also. Not a bad way to go if you like to work on clubs.
I am currently happy with my PXG O311 gen3 forged irons.
Good luck bud
I forgot to mention you can buy the heads only from takomo and fit what ever shaft you like for even cheaper price
sub70 direct to consumer brand now has a custom fit uk site so they can fit you in person and you still get the direct to consumer price. Wonder what your thoughts on sub70 are if you have tried them, I'm sure you have obviously.
I use A PXG hybrid, 0211ST blades, and one of their wedges. Best clubs I’ve ever played.
Thank you for this comparison video. Helped me choose my new irons -PXG 0311p. Love your channel.
Same for me! That’s the reason i came close to buying a set of Sub 70s but resale was poor.
Not much difference between the clubs seeing that the 0211 are a great price off the self
Same for me. I looked at the Takomo's, and they seem like fantastic sticks, but resale value is a big factor.
Works perfect for me
How are these clubs? I just ordered them in black! I hope the paint lasts
@@Kylez1212 I’ve played with them twice so far. Great feel and the ball just bounces off the club. It just sounds different. I hit around 20 yards further on average per club. But that may because of the senior shaft on this set. Hope you like them. Let me know…
Just purchased the full bag 0211 V3 setup with the Sugardaddy wedges added. Can't wait to give them a swing
Just ordered a set of PXGs and with the Hero’s discount I got the 4-PW for a little or $600!!!
The clean look of the Takomo is very tempting.
Looking to get fitted for the Takomo 101s this 2023 season and beyond. I’m just surprised that they are both in left hand dexterity.
Which is better for a mid handicap player?
I currently play the PXG XCOR2 and love them. I got the hero price at $109 per iron😃
Im debating pxg 0212 and takomo 101. Takomo is alot cheaper and pxg u can get fitted. 250$ different here in the us. I thinking of takomo now
Hi you didnt mention anything about the offsets of these 2 sets of irons. 0211 have little offset, what about the 101's?
Look on their web site as spec's are there. They have a 101T also..

Is there an improvement for you with the 101T?
Thanks DannyD
Compared to Ram FX77?
Present day, PXG 0211's are $78/club for veterans !
These two do seem very similar with PxG being less elegant. You could also go for the Inesis 500.
Love the videos as I am an average golfer myself. Do you plan to review the Obsidian graphite shafts in the Takomo irons that they are offering now? I have been looking for graphite and noticed this option but can not find much information on them.
Hi Andy, i have both models on my list for the next set and also the Ping G425 irons. Any recommendations towards one of these? Cheers, Frank
Good v-log, I think ultimately it’s about what you want, balance the pro’s and con’s and make your decision. Not in the market for irons this year
I was expecting more of a playing comparison.
Sub 70 is where i'm going.... great value, fitted.... beautiful looking
The Sub 70s look good, but not for long. I have seen several sets of 699s up close with less than one season on them and honestly they look beat. Not a factor if you don’t care, but if you do, be wary.

Without a doubt if you know your specs PXG gives you the best options...better than most brands.
This just popped into my head while I was watching your Tokomo review.
Considering the 0211 DC / XCor2, hit the DC's well in testing so far, but wondering if the 0311 Gen3 in P or XP is not a better iron overall?
I've got the XP,got them 2 weeks ago and hitting greens on par 3 with 7 iron that in the years playing that course have never hit. I'm loving my gen 3 xp
I'm looking at both right now ! Leaning towards tacomo . Have PXG o211 driver and gen4 woods
Andy not sure if the shot tracers are really accurate but watching this video the Takomo irons give you a much more controlled flight imho 👍
Really looking at the tacomo right now but a bit lost in relation to the shaft options.
I can get the Nippon NS pro 950GH shafts in the PXGs , one inch short to fix the lie angle
But with the Takomo you can order just the heads and have your fitter put your shafts and grips. Cant do that with PXG
Both of these are absolutely on my shopping list as well as the Sub70’s or possibly a previous generation of PXG’s premium clubs like the gen 4’s but are basically out of stock.. 🤔🤔🤔
Can you get a set of the Takomo 101t irons for an on course test. 101 look nice but a little chunky 👍🏻
i have PXG irons, not the model your reviewing, but I really like there clubs, and Brian is right the trade in price is not going to be great with Takomo. You hit it on the head, you were custom fitted for the PXG's and i think we need to have "Iron Byron" hitting the clubs to get an idea of the differences between the two. If your beginner I would go with the Takomo due to the price and playability, for my money it's PXG
"there clubs" , wtf?

@@jamesbrown8513 thanks for the info on JR's comparison. I still use a combo set of Mizuno MPH5/MP25's so I keep my eye open for Mizuno reviews.
What you save with the Takoma, put into a lesson or two and there you have it sports fans…even better golf down the road😊
As a side note, I've always thought the Takomo 101's were suspiciously similar to the Ping I500s. The color is different but the shapes and the build (no inner foam, face welded on, 17-4 stainless steel) are very similar.
Yeah lot of similarities
If you can build your own clubs, Dynacraft MB irons heads have a cast body, and forged face, $19.95 each.

They'll build them for you too.
Really enjoy your reviews and summary.
However, you never mentioned which iron proved to be the longest - which was it?
what shaft did you have in the 101s ?

Another great video, Thanks Andy. Swing is looking good by the way....those were some nice shots! Looks like you were even working the ball a little bit with these cast hollow-body irons. Good to see.
Thank you from the USA .
