Your post remind me of a dog that was not mine but took up with me back in the 70's. She stayed at my house all of the time I think because I took care of her. She waited every morning for me to take a shower before she would go downstairs. She would follow me to work because I walked to work at the time. I remember laying down on the floor of my bedroom, lost in the feeling.on my belly with an old cassette tape recorder I remember the strong desire to have that love story. I would wait seemed like forever for my favorite songs, you know there was no rewind on radios. Needless to say I was anxious for “my songs” to play on the radio. I was ready to push down play/record buttons. After all of my awkwardness of my teen years. I would bring out my cassettes and listen. Through the heart aches of those years I feel like it helped me to realize that life is great.Once I got old enough for a job I bought 45’s and albums. I started my family, three children ‘ raising them on my music. They listen to that music to this day and tell the stories that I told them. How important those songs meant to me. So now their stories carry on my feelings of my awkward years. Thank you for the Beautiful Music
I did the same thing.....waiting and waiting till my favorite song came on the radio to press play on the recorder....... You made me laugh and Smile....... Thank you.....!!😇😊
Love was VERY different in the 70s & 80s. It was more than okay to open your chest and expose your heart. Men singing about vulnerability was sexy. Music doesn't even come CLOSE to what it was back then.
I remember all my life Raining down as cold as ice Shadows of a man A face through a window cryin' in the night The night goes into Morning just another day Happy people pass my way Looking in their eyes I see a memory I never realized How happy you made me Oh Mandy well You came and you gave without taking But I sent you away Oh, Mandy Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking And I need you today Oh, Mandy! I'm standing on the edge of time I've walked away when love was mine Caught up in a world of uphill climbing The tears are in my mind and nothin' is rhyming Oh Mandy well, You came and you gave without taking But I sent you away. Oh, Mandy Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking, And I need you today Oh, Mandy! Yesterday's a dream I face the morning Crying on a breeze The pain is calling Oh Mandy Well, you came and you gave without taking But I sent you away oh, Mandy Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking And I need you today oh, Mandy You came and you gave without taking But I sent you away oh, Mandy You kissed me and stopped me from shaking And I need you
I remember when I was young my dad and mom would play Barry Manilow on the record player. It is because of them I continue to play his records and cd's. Great person, songwriter, and singer! How can you not love his music.
I was a sophomore in HS when this was released. 'Mandy' is arguably Manilow's signature song. A few years before my mom passed, I took her to see him at the Erwin Center in Austin. Just a great time and a great memory.

If the seventies were the canvas; the backdrop of my life, from the palette came memories. This song was the paint. In 1974, I was 14 years old, fifty years ago when it came out. It is still one of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤
This song takes me back to a past full of emotions and good memories of a person who was very important in my life.. Thanks for the memories Master Barry Manilow...
This song has my life attached to it. I'm named after this song. my parents loved it and planned to call me Mandy. I love it!!!! forever this song lives on 💝💖
Just listened to this because my beautiful cat died on Sunday and the line “I never realised how happy you made me” is just so damn perfect as I didn’t realise just how much she meant to me. RIP Magpie, you’ll never be forgotten little one.
The "Mandy" in my life didn't have that name, but I will always remember the thrill of finding that a social outcast like me could actually be loved by such a beautiful and bright young woman. She opened an entirely new world for me, one that I could only imagine very dimly before she came along.
I enjoy reading all the comments of joy and heartbreak this classic song has had on people...i add my own now. As i was going through my divorce 12 years ago, i sat in the dark in a lonely house crying my heart out listening to this song over and over. It was painful, but it helped me heal as well. Her name wasn't Mandy, but Wendy was close enough...first time I've listened to this in 12 yrs
Sorry, Brother. Just keep smiling as much as possible and generate a good frequency of peace and excitement inside. That magnetism will bring lots of people close and maybe one will be someone that you have some common interests with. Sometimes men and women don’t find someone really good for them until late in life, and that’s OK. Life lasts much longer than our time here aboard Earth.
@@andrewcanady6644 thanks for the kind words of wisdom. I've adjusted since then, it was just a moment, anytime I listen to this, the memories and emotions come flooding back.
Barry has done some of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Mandy is about as good as it gets. The song is just fantastic in so many ways. And it really hits you, if you have any emotion in you. I truly miss the 1970s. This is for you Stacy.
Oh i love Barry so much!, his music has gone with me since the 70's until today, i worked one of his concerts at the Omni in Atlanta, Ga. In 1986, i was an Usher there, he wouldn't allow us employees to watch him practice for his concert, i wanted to silently watch him but i wasn't allowed, i enjoyed working the show, and i bought a Tshirt, the guy's working with me laughed at me for buying it, they were young, so was I, but i didn't care, i loved his music. Mandy has always been my favorite. God bless you Barry, where ever you are!❤❤❤
I loved the song MANDY and when I was a very young i said if i ever have a girl I would name her Mandy and my first born was a girl and i named her Mandy she is 38 years old and she loves the song too I'm happy i made my promise never regretted it i love the song thanks Barry Manilow💗💗💗💗
Debbie - mine was "Sarah Smile" by Hall & Oates. I named her Sarah but she didn't survive the first 3 months. I will never feel whole again. I'm 65 now and she was my biggest regret in all that time. 1980 - it was the last year I ever felt worth the Oxygen I consumed.
This song has always brought back sad memories for me as it charted in 1974 when my Mom, her body ravaged by cancer, mercifully passed away. Tough, tough times for a 14 yr old.
"Sir, Barry Manilow, it's like wine, the older you get, the better you get .... Divine and wonderful voice, may God preserve you thus, for all eternity !!"
This song I listen to often his voice is such a gift it gives me goosebumps. Barry Manilow is someone I will never forget.his voice I can't even explain it how powerfull it is
@@TheWelchProductions The lines have blurred a great deal in what's straight tv or well crafted serialized tv like Sopranos and Breaking Bad. TOTDY leans towards being a 13 hour movie and was even shown at Cannes with episodes 4 and 5 combined. It's kind of how Bergman's Scenes of a Marriage, Kieslowski's Dekalog, Lynch's The Return, or Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz can be argued as still being cinema. Like Bela Tarr's 8hr long movie called Satantango.
This song has such a special sentiment for me. I was sat feeling so very down because my Mum had just died. I was at her house and my amazing little Granddaughters came and sat at the side of me while I listened to it to comfort me.♥️♥️♥️

I'm listening in 2024 too. However, I first heard this on a 9-volt battery Snoopy AM radio that I got on Christmas 1974. I was eight years old in Phoenix. It was a cold, cloudy and rainy Christmas and that's what I see when I hear this song. That eight-year old is now 58.
This song hurts bad. This song fits my soul mate Mandy perfectly . She gave without taking , her kiss would stop me from shaking . I need her today , I need everyday . She truly was a one of a kind angel! Hopefully we will reunite in another existence.
This song is indeed a tear jerker; for real. Barry Manilow vocals are so for real natural sounding by this song MANDY as well as his choice of words that he's singing to this tear jerker persons can just vision to see what Barry Manilow's saying in singing about Mandy is a bit sad in some ways; but, so beautifully heartfelt in another way to cry about. It's a beauty to listen to although it's an oldies that will never really seem old as persons of said young and of said older age will always be able to relate to this sad; but, extremely beautiful song by a top king Barry Manilow; love peace and respect to Barry Manilow for sharing this wonderful beauty of his for millions and millions of people all around the world to benefit by in different ways.
I think you could argue a few earlier songs did that. 🎶Like A Good Neighbour, State Farm Is There; 🎶I Am Stuck On Band Aid ‘Cause Band Aid’s Stuck On Me and especially 🎶You Deserve A Break Today!
I was trying to find this song with lyrics , and I did not need them , because Barry’s voice is so clear and the sound of angels does not need help❤❤❤❤🙏🏽🙏🏽
I adore you Jesus Christ and thank you for all your blessings!!!....…....❤...........May God bless everyone in the universe with no exceptions!!!.... Amen🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉😂🎉❤🎉❤
This is my favorite of his compositions. To this day it makes me cry. What a brilliant artist. Thank you Vevo for sharing this. I have this in an album and cassette. Now I need to buy a CD. Whose getting old? lol Songs
Wonderful memory. Your sister will always be with you in your heart. Just remember that she is in God's hand now, and in the place we will all be re-joined with our loved ones, because Jesus promised this to us. God bless you, and remember that she still loves you now, because of your love for her.

Me too, me too
I remember laying down on the floor of my bedroom, lost in the feeling.on my belly with an old cassette tape recorder I remember the strong desire to have that love story.
Thank you.....!!😇😊
@@caroldesarnoNeNe45 you know what I mean. Ahhh such fine memories
That part with the recorder, I did the same.
Hellow, do you search Scott English playing "Brandy", It is the same song but a different singer.
Yes! I'd completely forgotten about waiting for songs and holding the play/record buttons ready. Good memories. This is my favorite song of all time.
If a song can spark a feeling that brings a tear, Barry Manilow can do it..I love him❤
Love was VERY different in the 70s & 80s. It was more than okay to open your chest and expose your heart. Men singing about vulnerability was sexy.
Music doesn't even come CLOSE to what it was back then.
I can't be more agree.
Raeguetton is pure shit 👎🏽
So greatly agreed!
Goosebumps, every time.
Muitos arrepios. ❤
I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice
Shadows of a man
A face through a window cryin' in the night
The night goes into
Morning just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
How happy you made me
Oh Mandy well
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away
Oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today
Oh, Mandy!
I'm standing on the edge of time
I've walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind and nothin' is rhyming
Oh Mandy well,
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
And I need you today
Oh, Mandy!
Yesterday's a dream
I face the morning
Crying on a breeze
The pain is calling
Oh Mandy
Well, you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today oh, Mandy
You came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away oh, Mandy
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you
Thanks. Great lyrics
Thank you for the lyrics
Thank you 😊
Thank you ❤
This song is not about a dog
I remember when I was young my dad and mom would play Barry Manilow on the record player. It is because of them I continue to play his records and cd's. Great person, songwriter, and singer! How can you not love his music.
Buddy Long that's the way to do it I'm singing it right now. To my kids they were like what kind of song is that.
just beautiful...
I was a sophomore in HS when this was released. 'Mandy' is arguably Manilow's signature song. A few years before my mom passed, I took her to see him at the Erwin Center in Austin. Just a great time and a great memory.
For me it was the Bee Gees, pre disco.
Buddy Long almost the same memories for me to.
❤❤❤ this song is a masterpiece , timeless, and legendary 💙💙💙💙💙🌹🌹🌹BEAUTIFUL BARRY MANILOW

This song is right up there with the very best of love songs. In my opinion, its in the top three of all time.
I agree
If the seventies were the canvas; the backdrop of my life, from the palette came memories. This song was the paint. In 1974, I was 14 years old, fifty years ago when it came out. It is still one of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤
True masterpiece hasn't aged a day, just like our emotions for this hit classic.

Cry every time when alone and hear this .....memories of my youth and lost love
I’m listening in 2024 ❤❤❤
Eulnglidis curbani
Same here!

One of the many great ballads gifted us by the Great Barry Manilow. What a wonderful song!
Just listened to this because my beautiful cat died on Sunday and the line “I never realised how happy you made me” is just so damn perfect as I didn’t realise just how much she meant to me.
RIP Magpie, you’ll never be forgotten little one.

Yes, the pain is the same for humans and for pets because true love hurts.
She is in a very happy place now.
È una canzone bellissima grazie Barry Manilow

Debbie Venezia my name is Mandy and I'm 38 too.... bday is 7/15/79
Debbie - mine was "Sarah Smile" by Hall & Oates. I named her Sarah but she didn't survive the first 3 months. I will never feel whole again. I'm 65 now and she was my biggest regret in all that time. 1980 - it was the last year I ever felt worth the Oxygen I consumed.
My Mom did the same. She remembered a character in the story Heidi that she wanted to name a daughter. She had me in 1979. I turned 40 on March 27th.
I'm so deeply sorry Dave. God bless you brother.

I shake my head in disbelief that Barry once thought this was a throwaway song. My God I'm so glad he changed his mind.

@@pachucodreams It’s a streaming miniseries, so it fits into the the TV category, not cinema.
