Oh no! You never got to throw the pottery off the cliff!!! You buy two plates and you have to aim them to get through the tori gate if I remember correctly! It was fun! I finally decided to buy a Goshuin there and start collecting stamps! So envious of your ability to travel and I love how you bring back such fond memories!!! Stay safe!

The whole aesthetics of a buddhist temple is calming but wonder how it fits into the overall spiritual reality of secular Japan.

The Gods of the Temple make you work, ie.: so many steps, to reach the top. By the time you reach it, your'e spent, empty, enlightened and ready to accept the blessing of the Temple Gods.

When in Otsu, we stopped in antique shop cause I see owner (also sensei iaido, battojutsu) cleaning Ichimonji katana. He wanted $200,000.00 US. Which is average for that blade. No, I did not buy it.

I had checked the size of Lake biwa. It is the size roughly of my country Singapore. Oh my god!
I go Google map you provided do a measurement of the area of lake biwa and Singapore. It is roughly the same size. I exclude small island from Singapore.
AMAZING. I am Singaporean chinese. Now if you come Singapore almost 40% of the population are non locals. Fill with migrants. You can't tell who is who. With so many pinoy , india indains, Vietnamese, china pple, bagala, parkitani , Malaysian, Indonesian etc. You just can't tell who us really local.
No racist here. But i want to ask. If half of the population in Japan is filled with them and they had become Japanese how the Japan pple feel? No offends. If you feel you must delete my comments feel free.
If in Japan we will know 100% who is Japanese witj one look.
