Klay doesn't need to be 2016 Klay in Dallas. He just needs to be more efficient than HardawayJr. You want to see how Klay would affect Dallas? Watch games by Dallas last year, and look at all the open catch and shoot opportunities THJ had that he bricked. Klay is going to make lots more of those. Klay shot like 45% on open catch and shoots last year.

Lovely’s first game was amazing to see. Had he been able to stay healthy and had kid let him loose, I’m SURE he would’ve been in the ROY of the year convo. He outplayed wemby and Chet in every meeting

Finals, the difference was how easy Boston was making it all look while we had to rely on Doncic's magic at every turn. Now with more spacing, we can make easier baskets, but still; we need an elite perimeter defender!
Wrong. Boston made it look easy because of how they dismantled Dallas defense. I bet they'd be feastin even more with Klay in the lineup. Imagine 3 defensive liabilities in the starting lineup
Mavs demolished everyone in their path to get to the finals. Played terribly on the offensive end against the Celtics in the finals. Luka was most definitely robbed of his first MVP. Where the team sits at the end of the season is a team effort,, not an individual players worth to a team. Hate this new way of judging the MVP it's ruining the best players legacy. SMH
The biggest reason why they made it to the finals is because if a great chemistry they're playing and supporting each other like real brothers no one expects them to make it to the finals last season they could've won it but Kyrie is getting thoes Chants renting on his head his not the Kyrie we saw Against The Clippers, Okc and Wolves

Dirk should’ve been the mvp in 2006 which was the year they lost to Miami in the finals. They gave Dirk a “Sorry about that here’s the mvp you should’ve gotten last year” mvp in 2007. That also happened to be the year Dallas had the best record in the west yet lost to GSW in the first round.

Luka will have time to rest, and I really hope he will pay attention to his weight to protect his knees.. It's my biggest fear. I hope he will react like Joker did when he decided to lose weight and work more physically, to be more efficient and to protect his body.
He must stop complaining too if he wants MVP.. He doesn't give a good image of him and I think Americans can't understand his passion.. I love this guy, but I must admit he can exasperate me too even if I'm French. I'm a fan of rugby and the respect of Refereeings are important in my sport, even if they are not so good as they have to be or not very honnests.
If medias begann critisizing his defense is perrhaps because they didn't want him to have MVP next season, and that they know that his good prestations in play offs and finals could give him an advantade. But it's sure he can défend and he will prove it next season, because he will have more support in attack. Klay will help to developpe young players and I'm so happy to watch how Lively will grow up with him.
They lost finals because of Kyrie, he totally gave up, too much pression for him against Boston. Klay will compensate if Kyrie is so emotive.
For me Luka desserved it in 2023 and it's difficult to say if he was better than Joker this season, but Joker said Luka desserved it more than him..

100% this. To add to it we saw he can defend when hes locked in and I think running more actions for Klay/Kyrie will help him feel he doesnt have to save energy on defense and commits. He spent 5 years having to be superman on offense so never commited to defense allowing him to have more possessions on offense where he doesn't have to max effort. The depth at guard is now allowing him to play less minutes overall with Kyrie, Klay, Hardy and Dinwiddie to take minutes at guard Kidd has to make sure he commits like he did down the stretch last year.
@@beenieweenie1986 he's probably more a zone defender, but he had his IQ (not yet as much as Joker) and reactivity to be better in defense. He was good during Slovenian's sélection matchs for Olympics and his impact in defense is real with Mavs..
But, he had to motivate himself if he wants a MVP, because he risks being given priority by Wemby, Chaï, my French recrues (I expect a lot from Salaün) and Ant.

This team won’t be making the finals again they caught a bit of luck last year. A older Kyrie and Klay just isn’t getting it done in the west. NBA is a copy cat league, you’re gonna see more teams shift towards matching up bigs on non shooters like the Celtics did and matchup hunting both of which are the Achilles heel of the Mavs, not to mention they don’t have flexibility with their roster construction moving forward. This team reminds me of the Cavs from the late 2000s but with worse defense because of Luka.
Here’s what you don’t get.. Mavs have too many cones!! When playoffs starts all those role players won’t be playing. So you got Luka and Kyrie playing defense for 40 mins again. BBQ chicken!! 😂

No, but from the trade deadline on they were the second best team in the league behind only Boston. That was true in terms of both regular season records down the stretch and obviously where they both finished in the post season.

You said Luka was the MVP this year, but how does he win with no defense. The main reason Dallas was able to run a faster offense was because of Kylie. Before Kyrie, Luka was very ball dominant while his teammates stood around watching the Luka show. If Luka doesn't learn to play offense, there's a good chance he will be exposed again in the playoffs.
