@@JiafeiProducts6969 Yes but no. As far as music videos yes Slave 4 U. But then Christina did a lady Marmalade video that same year. But then Britney did that strip tease at the MTV Awards in 2000 that was very controversial at the time. But Christina from the very beginning was singing “rub me the right way” in Genie. But then Britney did that controversial Rolling Stone cover in 1999 and was singing hit me baby one more time in a Catholic school girl uniform. I guess what made the two so different was that Britney in the beginning always flirted with her sexuality. Giving the public something but never enough. Whereas Christina was more open about it. Britney was playing the sexy Lolita whereas Christiana was playing a prostitute in lingerie and assless chaps.
imo reputation did it so well because all of the visuals and marketing was this dark aesthetic and to the public it basically seemed like a diss album to kanye- but really it’s her most romantic album and most of the songs are about falling in love, with only like 3-4 ab her cancellation and the kanye stuff
Taylor Swift always knows how to flip a narrative and I wasn't in tuned with her as a early swiftie I miss her country pop but I love her new pop folk era but also Lover was cute asf
And see this is why I don’t really care much for reputation era at all. Like how is it called that but it’s 90% romance and nothing to really do with your actual image. Now I did see a comment on another video that made a good point and said that Taylor’s reputation really wasn’t negatively affected as much as she and her team made it seem. She still came out of it unscathed and successful and had little to no pushback yet Lover (one of her best) got a lot of flack for being a happier album. @@cosmicwaddles9971 Her reputation definitely was impacted. When artists get bad press like that, it can either tank their career or create a huge high. It all depends on how they respond and how appealing the song is. She used the negative press to her benefit and now that dark time makes it seem like she's had to go through more struggles, which helped todays perception of her. If she didn't completely remove herself from the public to counteract the oversaturation, comeback with a completely catchy song, and play into what people believed her to be, she would have struggled MUCH more. Plus, lover isn't one of her best. It's one of her worse critically and publicly appreciated albums, even coming off the back of a bunch of positive press with kimye call being leaked, her new documentary, and the feud ending with Katy. The problem with lover was not that it was happy, but that it wasn't as good. The happy songs on her other albums are much better received. I personally don't love rep either, and think it's a little unfocused in each song, lacks specificity in some tracks, and it a little less authentic than other albums, but lover has a lack of authenticity in some tracks, has bad singles, and lacks the self-awareness that normally make Taylor's albums so good. One of the things I think is unique about Reputation is how the “good girl gone bad” persona that Taylor had throughout the marketing was a purposeful and open act - the album explores this dichotomy between the vengeful, angry, spiteful persona that she’s constructed for herself to face the media with, and the vulnerable, hurt, clinging-to-love “true” Taylor that that construction is meant to protect. The promotion, the singles she chose, the performances she did, all of it was meant to give the impression that this would be a revenge album, that the old Taylor is dead and she’s been reborn as a vengeful beast to unleash her fury upon her enemies, but if you listen to the album itself, that persona fades away pretty quickly and you see what she was hiding. The old Taylor isn’t dead, she’s just wounded and scared and trying to put herself back together. She never truly “went bad,” she was just putting in a show of it to protect herself- it felt like the world wanted her to be a villain, so she played the role of the villain. I think we were always meant to see through the act. At its core, reputation is an album about falling in love when you feel like your world is falling apart, and it’s a great example of why you shouldn’t judge a book (or an album lol) by its cover.

I think Look What You Made Me Do is one of the best comeback songs ever, because of this. That being said, I think the album is just a little too unfocused and not committed enough to the comeback narrative to have, as an album, be the best bad girl era. She had too much to say in her life for it to just be a bad girl era. That's just my thoughts though
@@davisfinney7526 i think the album's pretty focused personally but it's defo not as committed to the 'bad girl era' as it first seems bc the album is more a journey of her falling in love - but i agree that the album as a whole isn't top tier bad girl, if it was just lwymmd then it would be up top i think

good girl gone bad is more iconic imo. more hits it's a lot different than music from the sun (her prior album) and overall skyrocketed rihanna's career and made her the staple for the "good girl gone bad" trope
Rihanna, Britney and Ari cleared. Miley was great and iconic in every way possible (I was 11 and my parents were horrified lol), but also fairly problematic as she discarded her aligning with black people and culture immediately when it didn’t suit her Lil Nas X, I loved the Montero album, it was amazing! Hope the next one delivers (even if j Christ underwhelmed)
chloe bailey did NOT deserve the hate she got. in my opinion, the only thing that warranted a side eye was the chris brown feature. like just say u don’t want a black girl winning 😒😒
I feel Sabrina’s good girl on bad was more so the singular acts, especially 2. For Eyes wide open (her debut) she kept that Disney like aesthetic, pretty wholesome. In EVOlution we see a shift but not career defining. Then with Singular Acts 1&2 it really hit, especially considering the fact she slipt it into two albums so she could leave her record label.
right and "looking at me" is iconic. but i feel like she's really embraced bad bitch vibes especially with the feather music video and the controversy it caused. I'm glad she's more known now though cause her songs are great
I loved this video! If you do a part 2, maybe it could be 90s/2000s good girl gone bad... like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mya etc.... just to name a few
Doing a good girl gone bad content and not putting xtina is kinda ridiculous, specially cause she could probably fit all the tiers (not diva down tho) and she was the blueprint for those eras of Miley and Demi
Disappearing from media for 1 year and then dropping "look what you made me do" the music video out of the blue is the definition of mother quake. If you're not a fan I understand but reputation deserves it's spot on top, it was a masterpiece of promo and prettiness
This album/era was never classified as a "good girl gone bad era" but I would say that Marinas Electra Heart's era really have a big impact in her career and many of the songs have some attitude. E.g, "Bubblegum bitch", "Power and Control", "Homewrecker", "How to be a heartbreaker", to mention av few
Rihanna high key made the good girl gone bad trope a thing. Her switch up for Umbrella and Disturbia was so different that her first several songs. The tattoos, the bob pixie cut, the edgier clothes, she did it the best in my opinion. Yeah, theres other girls but good girl gone bad is literally the albums name 😅 Bangerz can be buried forever lol it was not a good transition like others
The fact that Janet, Madonna, and Christina were left off the list is criminal, boo! lolz They are all WAY more impactful and inarguably iconic than quite a few on this list. lol 🤷🏾♂😂 Truly no disrespect to anyone.
He’s not a girl but Justin Bieber honestly. He was the good boy gone bad and I was LIVING for it okay😂. Bizzle Bieber was in full effect, and I ain’t mad at him. He produced his best music during that time, he’s a R&B boy at heart. But whooo, the Bieber hate was WILD, I’m kinda shocked you didn’t mention him.
honestly reputation is level 10 motherquake just for the dominatrix outfit alone. and the biker outfit!!! changed lives. I feel like what makes rep one of the best (imo) good girl bad girl eras and solidified its place in pop culture history was because it *kind of* WASN'T a good girl gone bad era. Like the whole point of the album (which a few people in the comments are missing and idk how they're missing it) was that she was playing a character. I still don't know how people don't get that when Look What You Made Me Do (both the song and its lyrics) is all satire. In the first half of reputation she's playing the 'bad girl' character, a very exaggerated version of what the media viewed her as, while the other half of the album and the album's core is love songs and falling in love with someone who loves you despite all the hate you're getting. Like the vulnerable songs are nestled in between the songs that are about her image. Cos when you think of it rep wasn't that scandalous or messy/fun as other good girl gone bad eras at all, it was pretty tame in comparison. But that's exactly what makes it so good (perception - since it was seen as such a shock to people for some reason - vs reality - romance), and it's iconic because the phrase "in your reputation era," signifies that someone is going good gone bad, but really it's her most romantic album that was just about playing on the media's perception of her as a "villain" for promo, and honestly I respect the business moves
be so fr reputation is THEE bad girl era. You even said "reputation era" when describing bad girl eras at the start 💀like we're still feeling its impact let's be serious it belongs at the top
I'M SORRY BUT THE "GOOD GIRL GONE BAD" ERAS ARE ALWAYS THE BEST LIKE...❤ AND TAYLOR , DOJA , CHRISTINNA , RIHANNA , MILEY , ARIANA , NICKI AND BEYONCÉ JUST KILED IT !😊 AND FOR THE BOYS ONLY LIL NAS X GIVED WHAT IT NEDED TO BE GIVE... I THINK CLÖE COULD ATE CAUSE SHE DID IT WITH "HAVE MERCY" , "TREAT ME" AND "SURPRISE" BUT...SHE LOST IT IN THE RUN🎉
17:40 "whatever album came before emails I can't send" that album is called 'Singular Act 2' and you all should listen to it as well as the rest of Sabrina's discography, she has a lot of great songs..some better than eics songs honestly
Bangerz belongs in the top tier for sure. Really well titled because every single song on that album is an absolute banger. When "We Can't Stop" dropped I was in high school, summer vacation just started and that song set the tone for the whole summer - it was revolutionary. I even themed my birthday party around the Bangerz neon palm tree aesthetic which was all the rage in 2013! Then everything that unfolded from that era was iconic.
As much as Taylor's Swift reputation era was promoted as this diss album and iconic good girl gone bad era it was her most romantic album actually even more so than Lover itself ,with only a few songs that are really disstracks
My Ranking: Level 10 Motherquake: *Ariana Grande* (I loved everything about it), *Chloe Bailey* (I love her and I love all the music she is putting out now and I get that everyone was mad but baby I can't be mad at something as perfect as Chloe or her debut), *Sabrina Carpenter* (I remember this but if we listen to because I liked a boy everyone was mad for no reason and then also seeing her from Girl meets world yeah she changed but I don't ever see her being a homewrecker but babe the music we got from that ERA) Page Six Approved: *Rihanna* (Riri eats everytime and she ateeee down with this but I feel like it was just so long ago that you kinda forget about the shift and that's why I didnt put it on Level 10), *Demi Lovato* (THEY ATEEEE with this like ATEEE down and I remember this I still listen to the songs now), *Britney Spears* (She definitely ate with her shift and I feel like she layed the way for other ones but she walked I feel she coulda ran but it was still amazing), *Lil Nas X* (I remember this and I loved everything about it but there was definitely alot of people mad but then again once I heard he was giving a lap dance to Satan I didn't watch the music video), AppropriATE: *Doja Cat* (I put it here cus I remember all the drama and disrespect that they people were getting/giving and some of the things were genuinely bad), *Miley Cyrus Bangers era* (I was so shockedddddddd but it was literally it frrr she said baby I'm getting older and I'm showing but she definitely somethings I was like oh), *Lizzo* (this was so bad and I was so shocked and confused and I was like okay) Decent Era: *Taylor Swift Reputation* (I am not a big Taytay fan but she did okay with the reputation) Diva Down: N/A Didn't know about/Don't listen to: *Ashley O, Jocelyn from the idol*
Christina Aquilera's Dirty era is also a good example. Though, she didn't have the level of goody-two-shoes reputation that Britney Spears had, she still fell in the same category with her first few songs. "Dirty" took that in a whole new bad girl direction with lots of people commenting about it.
Hi, i want to say it was a great video and i have an idea for you for a text tier film type. Can you do tier list best to worst third album of some pop girlies cuz i know that for every pop artist third album is something diffrent like ARTPOP or PORTALS
I mean it's hard to have a bad girl now when nothing is off the table. There's no shock value because we have no moral compass in entertainment. Same way we can't have the "weird girl" because after Gaga it became normalized. Miley will forever be the last successful good girl gone bad and after her so many things became normalized in entertainment
Miley's bad girl era had *SO* many people shook over a decade ago
I feel like she did that to shake the Disney star identity she had. And because of Hanna Montana, she felt like she had to be a pure, sanitized example. She wanted to be viewed as Miley and not Hanna, and that's fair.

imo reputation is one of the most iconic good girl gone bad eras. the fact that it was not only a kanye diss album, a media diss album, but also one of her most romantic albums ever, is actually insane. and the whole “coming back from the dead” thing was so powerful back then, and even now, like she was reclaiming her reputation and i think it really changed her trajectory as an artist
And everyone now refers to the “bad girl era” as the reputation era, just iconic
@@katy-hn2jm Oh yeah, for sure! I didn't mean anything bad towards the love songs, one of my favs from the whole album is one. I just can't see it as a top tier bad girl era, just because there's so much love. Love all her music so much though :)
good girl gone bad is more iconic imo. more hits it's a lot different than music from the sun (her prior album) and overall skyrocketed rihanna's career and made her the staple for the "good girl gone bad" trope
Rihanna, Britney and Ari cleared. Miley was great and iconic in every way possible (I was 11 and my parents were horrified lol), but also fairly problematic as she discarded her aligning with black people and culture immediately when it didn’t suit her
Lil Nas X, I loved the Montero album, it was amazing! Hope the next one delivers (even if j Christ underwhelmed)
chloe bailey did NOT deserve the hate she got. in my opinion, the only thing that warranted a side eye was the chris brown feature. like just say u don’t want a black girl winning 😒😒
I think you mean Chloe and Halle right?
And yes their music is amazing
@@b19wing No, they're referring to Chloe as a solo artist.
@@raquelvalladolid532 ah she's great too
1. Not you slighting Ashley O 😩
2. I think Janet Jackson’s control era was her bad girl era . Honorable mention
Also honorable mention Christina Aguilera
@@suzukikaroshi yea when she became XTINA the girls were losing it lol
To show my age but I remember when Christina Aguilera's Dirrrty came out the world doth shake....
Yeah but it wasn’t as controversial as everyone were busy hating on Britney.
it was sooo controversial it went no1 in uk but couldn't in us because it was banned from everywhere@@swizzwizz12
Literally had to watch that music video at my friends house cuz it wasn’t allowed under my roof 😂😭
The album that came before emails I can’t send was singular acts I and II and it was soooo gooooodddd
Highly agree
so badass imo
right and "looking at me" is iconic. but i feel like she's really embraced bad bitch vibes especially with the feather music video and the controversy it caused. I'm glad she's more known now though cause her songs are great
I loved this video! If you do a part 2, maybe it could be 90s/2000s good girl gone bad... like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mya etc.... just to name a few
Your laugh is literally “iconic” just got a new subscriber!!!!!!♉️🦋❤️
Right? I love his laugh
Doing a good girl gone bad content and not putting xtina is kinda ridiculous, specially cause she could probably fit all the tiers (not diva down tho) and she was the blueprint for those eras of Miley and Demi
I think Rumi is too young to recall that detail for detail even though I also expected her in the ranking
As soon as you said appropriATE I knew it made for Miley Cyrus😂
Why does Everyone think Ariana came from Disney 😭 its so annoying 😂 victorious wouldn't have even worked on Disney honestly
Agreed with ariana... She rocked the good girl gone bad era
E.g, "Bubblegum bitch", "Power and Control", "Homewrecker", "How to be a heartbreaker", to mention av few
i mean people are literally saying “in their rep era” even if it’s not taylor, and i think that’s so telling. at the top for me, 1000%
Rihanna high key made the good girl gone bad trope a thing. Her switch up for Umbrella and Disturbia was so different that her first several songs. The tattoos, the bob pixie cut, the edgier clothes, she did it the best in my opinion. Yeah, theres other girls but good girl gone bad is literally the albums name 😅
Bangerz can be buried forever lol it was not a good transition like others
Janet jacksons control album and mariah careys butterfly album were missing here yes theyre old but they kinda revolutionised the whole genre
Exactly
Bestie Rumi is back baby ❤️❤️❤️. I love you 🫶🏾🫶🏾
love you right back
Please rank group/bands to solo transitions
Omg the fucking bart baker parodies I forgot about those, they fr feel like fever dreams.
Chloe definitely started good. She and her sisters were homeschooled, sang on the floor in their bedroom, were religious, wholesome, vegan.
i would definitely have reputation and bangerz into in the motherquake era
Ashley O is sooo UNSERIOUS!!! RUMI I CAN’T STAND YOU! 🤣🤣🤣
As soon as you started to describe appropriATE I automatically knew who was going there😂😂😂
The fact that Janet, Madonna, and Christina were left off the list is criminal, boo! lolz They are all WAY more impactful and inarguably iconic than quite a few on this list. lol 🤷🏾♂😂 Truly no disrespect to anyone.
Ya thank u for not putting Taylor @ top, I love her but compared to others, it was so underwhelming and imo was only a partial shift in image.
But that's exactly what makes it so good (perception - since it was seen as such a shock to people for some reason - vs reality - romance), and it's iconic because the phrase "in your reputation era," signifies that someone is going good gone bad, but really it's her most romantic album that was just about playing on the media's perception of her as a "villain" for promo, and honestly I respect the business moves
great video rumi!! love the tier lists this was interesting, i prob think Rihanna takes the cake though!
What about the OG Janet Jackson?!
15:57 I honestly think her song Can’t be Tamed hinted to this happening.
I love your ranking videos 🥺🫶🏽
Enjoyed the video How about Mariah Carey butterfly era
we LOVE Motherbrina recognition
I still remember my English teacher in 9th grade talking about Miley’s vma performance and how much she disapproves 😂
be so fr reputation is THEE bad girl era. You even said "reputation era" when describing bad girl eras at the start 💀like we're still feeling its impact let's be serious it belongs at the top
it’s not that serious
Sabrina Carpenter is so good
You putting Ari up there, baby…
I AM IN LOVE!!!
Dangerous Woman remains my top Ari album for a reason-iconic!!
yoooo do my thang is a bangerrrrrr
I'M SORRY BUT THE "GOOD GIRL GONE BAD" ERAS ARE ALWAYS THE BEST LIKE...❤
AND TAYLOR , DOJA , CHRISTINNA , RIHANNA , MILEY , ARIANA , NICKI AND BEYONCÉ JUST KILED IT !😊
AND FOR THE BOYS ONLY LIL NAS X GIVED WHAT IT NEDED TO BE GIVE...
I THINK CLÖE COULD ATE CAUSE SHE DID IT WITH "HAVE MERCY" , "TREAT ME" AND "SURPRISE" BUT...SHE LOST IT IN THE RUN🎉
This is an amazing subject to cover 💕
Thank you for matching the tier labels to the proper colors😂🙏🏼
disney? you mean nickelodeon i’m crying 😭
17:40 "whatever album came before emails I can't send" that album is called 'Singular Act 2' and you all should listen to it as well as the rest of Sabrina's discography, she has a lot of great songs..some better than eics songs honestly
jojo siwa sad she didnt make the cut
Where was Justin Beiber? He defo should’ve been on there
It's a list on pop girls?????
Trust my favourite TH-camr to never neglect Miss AO 😩, never lacking
Xtina’s Dirrty era would’ve been billions of views, bc she was turbulent in her career change
Not having Jojo Siwa there was A CRIME
i wish demi’s holy fuck era was added to this.
Same.
Christina Aguilera?
Talk about Appropri-ATE
You missed Christina Aguileras Dirrrty era ! I would love to know your opinion on it. I'm a bit older than you but I can assure you it was Iconic.
can i pls paste the link for the tier list!! i couldnt find it
added to description!
“whatever came before emails i can’t send” EXCUSE ME!!! singular act 2 is spectacular
Omg you were so giggly!! It was infectious! Never heard you laugh so much
Fun vid!!😊
Christina aguilera was shocking with the video dirty.
i’m finally subscribing cause i immediately click when i see you uploaded
if
you were
older you should have added
christina aguilera dirrty era
she walked so others could run
I don't think she ever had a good girl era.
You mean janet jackson she was the first good girl gone bad and it sold tremendously well
A Scarlet lover 😭❤
My Ranking:
Level 10 Motherquake: *Ariana Grande* (I loved everything about it), *Chloe Bailey* (I love her and I love all the music she is putting out now and I get that everyone was mad but baby I can't be mad at something as perfect as Chloe or her debut), *Sabrina Carpenter* (I remember this but if we listen to because I liked a boy everyone was mad for no reason and then also seeing her from Girl meets world yeah she changed but I don't ever see her being a homewrecker but babe the music we got from that ERA)
Page Six Approved: *Rihanna* (Riri eats everytime and she ateeee down with this but I feel like it was just so long ago that you kinda forget about the shift and that's why I didnt put it on Level 10), *Demi Lovato* (THEY ATEEEE with this like ATEEE down and I remember this I still listen to the songs now), *Britney Spears* (She definitely ate with her shift and I feel like she layed the way for other ones but she walked I feel she coulda ran but it was still amazing), *Lil Nas X* (I remember this and I loved everything about it but there was definitely alot of people mad but then again once I heard he was giving a lap dance to Satan I didn't watch the music video),
AppropriATE: *Doja Cat* (I put it here cus I remember all the drama and disrespect that they people were getting/giving and some of the things were genuinely bad), *Miley Cyrus Bangers era* (I was so shockedddddddd but it was literally it frrr she said baby I'm getting older and I'm showing but she definitely somethings I was like oh), *Lizzo* (this was so bad and I was so shocked and confused and I was like okay)
Decent Era: *Taylor Swift Reputation* (I am not a big Taytay fan but she did okay with the reputation)
Diva Down: N/A
Didn't know about/Don't listen to: *Ashley O, Jocelyn from the idol*
Ariana was with Nickelodeon though.
Rep was motherquake let’s be real
I’m sorry, but putting Dangerous Woman over Reputation is INSANEEE I love Ariana, but reputation had way more of an impact
The laugh is giving Papi Boulevardez from Proud Family. 😂😂😂
Can't believe you said Ari's a Disney girl; NICKELODEON QUEEN THROUGH AND THROUGH.
notifications on gang baby 😸 !!!
I was like I think 8 when Bangerz came out, and all I remember is singing Wrecking Ball and getting it mixed up with Fight Song LOL
Oh man Xtina's Dirry era is like the ultimate good girl gone bad era lol.
I feel like holy fvck is the true “bad girl” era of demi
it's downright evil era 😂
@@maverickkk9163 HELPPPP yeah 😭
Christina Aquilera's Dirty era is also a good example. Though, she didn't have the level of goody-two-shoes reputation that Britney Spears had, she still fell in the same category with her first few songs. "Dirty" took that in a whole new bad girl direction with lots of people commenting about it.
Hi, i want to say it was a great video and i have an idea for you for a text tier film type. Can you do tier list best to worst third album of some pop girlies cuz i know that for every pop artist third album is something diffrent like ARTPOP or PORTALS
Gwen Stefani definitely fits into the appropriate tier
I mean it's hard to have a bad girl now when nothing is off the table. There's no shock value because we have no moral compass in entertainment. Same way we can't have the "weird girl" because after Gaga it became normalized. Miley will forever be the last successful good girl gone bad and after her so many things became normalized in entertainment
