It was sad to discover that David and Allison's girls died shortly after birth. They seemed so ready to be the best parents possible to their girls. They'd done so much research into what might be best. It didn't seem as if the loss of both babies so shortly after birth was on their radar. I hope their marriage survived this and that they went on to have a child or children.

The title makes you think that their babies defied the odds and that they lived. So sad whenever they showed David (deep thinker) his wife almost had to snap him out of it a couple of times. I bet he was in so much deep thought about how they're going to look when they are born or if they're even going to make it WHEN this should be the happiest time of they're lives, excitement of having a baby!! I can't believe the babies died. I hope they are still married with children. Doesn't seem like her husband is the strong one out of them two.

The Lawlers seem like sweet, innocent people. I can understand being hopeful but they seemed naive in their confidence that it would all work out in the end. The situation is so deeply philosophical and spiritual. Love isn’t a rational thing and life is always unpredictable. @kathyestes6577 You know there have been cases where Doctors have been wrong. Where they say a baby will not live till so many days or years and they end up living way past the Doctors prediction and are still alive. I don't think it was being naive at all. It is not an easy decision to abort and if they did, they would have lived with regret thinking did they do the right thing. They were not sweet, innocent people. They were human beings like all of us and if you were put in that situation, would it be easy for you to just make a decision just like that? So, if a couple decided to abort then they are not sweet and innocent? They are smart and wise?

Conjoined twins that share a heart never survive. The heart can't keep up with both conjoined twins. Its too hard and too much on the heart. No conjoined twins that shared a heart have ever survived. That's why the babies didn't survive. Other conjoined twins survive because they have separate hearts and other organs helping the organs to keep up with both twins. The hearts are able to pump enough to keep both twins alive.

If you notice, his twin does all of the speaking unless Hassan is asked a direct question. There is a deep sense of remembered trauma and loss from the separation, even though they were only 8 months old. I'm not saying that it's good that the twins died, but at least the parents didn't become emotionally attached to the twins if they end up surviving for months.

They were already fully emotionally attached!! You don't seem to understand the love parents have for their babies the minute they find out they are pregnant. Even when babies are lost before birth, the loss is just as real and profound as it is after birth. These parents certainly grieved deeply no matter how short their lives were.

The term “Siamese twins” is considered performative, at least in the US. It is preferred to use the term “conjoined twins.” You should rewrite this video’s parenthetical description, in the title.

@@user-10021 you act as if God can't help someone get through life. We don't get to decide what "good quality of life" is and who lives and who dies. Some of the happiest people are people with severe disabilities. All that family did was allow nature to decide and nature decided the babies would not survive. I'd rather nature decide then I take matters into my own hands and I truly don't know the outcome.

That's not for you to say! Indeed, it is not the parent's choice. There are many conjoined twins who either separated or still conjoined, have stated that they are happy to be alive and to be conjoined. Just because you can't comprehend a situation doesn't give you the right to judge it. Especially someone's life and if they have the right to live it!

In simple terms, Conjoined twins are made when one embryo separating into two does not split at the exact moment it is supposed to. There is nothing one can do or can not do to prevent this!
