Idling it sounded awful.......I remember hearing a 850 commando firing up and idling....exquisite sound ...lovely.....this 961 is not going to please many enthusiasts..........
The Norton here is definately choked off and lean right off of idle and at minimal part throttle cruise! It really needs some help to perform it's best
Nice bike. The top end looks like like a seventies honda?Finning and valve covers etc? What's with the mechanical noise? This is a new bike and an expensive one at that!
and you know bugger all to I owned Nortons for well over 40 years and rebuilt a lot to And Do have the blueprints for these engines I have And Just happen to be a Marine engineer at that these engines were Design by engineering students in California for Kenny Drear I knew him well and he was trying to get the engine more developed but his investors pulled out, these engine over oil and have oil consumption problems and ECU failers and cam sensors fail
Now I have listened to it, I have to agree. What is that nasty clunking noise? I know the silencers are too quiet etc but the sound is a bit like a big end/crank noise? Seems like it is quieter out on the road.
Good on ya Anna, you hit Mr Miza for a six. I've owned Nortons during my biking life and I have to agree, it's a box of nails thrashing around. This is the most disappointing thing about these new Commandos. I looked into buying one but found it to be expensive, rattly, underpowered and uncomfortable. In the end I bought a Diavel and I'm delighted with it. Sad really, I would have loved a good Commando.
These sound much better in real life. But at the price they are, you have to really want the Norton name. It IS, for me, the best name in motorcycling bar none, closely followed by Guzzi (but you have to drop the Moto).
I was watching his right mirror as he took it through to 80mph and noticed it stayed crystal clear so I am not sure apart from at tick over if there is much vibration actually.
Buy yourself one of the new Enfield Twins. I havent seen a road proper or long distance test of them yet. But when you look at the automotive background of Enfield and its economic powers and experience its more likely to be a good bike than the underdeveloped Norton. And its much much much cheaper.
According to not yet discoloured knee pipes, the bike will be nearly new! If I am supposed to spend more than 15 000£ for bike, that imperfection would make me at least irritated.
Yeah, I had a '74 Norton when I was much younger. Maybe it was the Dunstalls I installed but it didn't make that much mechanical noise at idle, if my memory is accurate, which it may not be.
Too heavy for only 80hp. If it were in the 300-350lbs it would have decent performance. 5gears instead of 6, not great. My guess is it's got ave performance at best. The sound at idle is a real disappointment, sorry. Sounds like a Ducati idle. BTW I love British bike and ride a Triumph 955i Speed Triple. Mine weighs a bit over 400lbs with 120hp and 6gears. The bike flys like the wind and has tons of low rpm torque. My 3cyl idles so much more smooth.
That is such a beautiful looking bike! Come a long way since my old Norton days!
Notice how you can actually see clearly in the mirrors, so smooth
Norton makes some clean bikes. Love the style of this one.
Sounds great
Best lookin' "modern caff racer" I've seen yet.
Seth Tyrssen ofc lol it’s 25k motorcycle as new... similar motorcycles are set around 10k .. more than double the price
@@CapitanTavish Some are built by hand....
Others are mass produced by cheap labour....
Ducati Sport Classic?
I had a Norton, 850cc commando, in 1980
To me, this is the most beautiful out of the box motorcycle you can buy. I wish Honda would do one!!!
Yeah, the CX650E maybe....
EH??/
Just ....................... BEAUTIFUL !!!!!! ......................
nice...very nice. Enfield / Norton / Triumph make a beautiful looking bike.
I Love Norton!
Idling it sounded awful.......I remember hearing a 850 commando firing up and idling....exquisite sound ...lovely.....this 961 is not going to please many enthusiasts..........
Meine Norton, ist von 1981
It looks a bit like a Norton, but it sounds more tinny than a Norton should.....I just saw what AJD wrote below ! Exactly right.
Nice bikes but from what i hear on this video makes me think engine noise was quieter on original norton commandos.
Greg K they are, my mate has a commando with a big bore kit on it and it’s quiet as a mouse next to that!!
Burnouts are stupid in so many ways -- why do otherwise intelligent people think they're impressive?
Beautiful job on the retro, nevertheless.
Because the guy riding the bike is has a dick for a head.
Pat Kittle I don’t know...Why do you occasionally push really hard to make your fart louder?
I,m with you on those stupid burnouts
The Norton here is definately choked off and lean right off of idle and at minimal part throttle cruise! It really needs some help to perform it's best
Drop dead gorgeous .

It makes scary top end noises.
2:13 Don't make comment before you watch full video! Here we go, extra feature blue, included in the price.
sounds like a bag of spanners in a washing machine

Stunning I will own one ,,,,,,,,one day
Have they finally gone to a plain bearing crank,or does it still have only two main bearings like before?
Doesn't sound like a real Norton!!
Very, Very Nice bike👍!

Nice looking bike but what's that mechanical clatter at low revs ? My 1974 Mk2 A was quieter than that .
needs the pipes changing.
What year is this one did it start life off as a 850 Commando?????
Gr8 bike 2 quiet. Xo
Stock exhaust really chokes them !!
Is it the black Norton you test ride? There's no wind screen
Did you modify your motorcycles!? Which parts!?
Did they make a 961 from the factory.????
Sounds like a Tractor and seems to vibrate quite a bit
I was watching his right mirror as he took it through to 80mph and noticed it stayed crystal clear so I am not sure apart from at tick over if there is much vibration actually.
Where can I get one ?
hat die norton ausch schleuderwurfschmierung und ist die mit dem schnüffelstück ausgerüstet
IF NORTON LAUNCHES IN INDIA IN HYDERABAD. I WILL BE THE FIRST TO OWN THE BIKE. PLEASE ALERT ME ON LAUNCHING OF THIS BIKE.
Buy yourself one of the new Enfield Twins.
I havent seen a road proper or long distance test of them yet.

Maybe , maybe
Sorry, I turned it off after the first few seconds.
Honda could just use a Superhawk or a 1000cc motor from their new adventure bike and It would probably outsell everything else on the planet
Top speed?
Super Moped
How to destroy an air-cooled engine ,stand still and rev. it up.
Sounds like a spindrier full of bricks...
тарахтит громче чем мой f800st
The idle sounds awful; too much mechanical noise and not enough rorty thunder.
It's a push rod engine that's why. The mechanical noises are quite normal.
Yeah, I had a '74 Norton when I was much younger. Maybe it was the Dunstalls I installed but it didn't make that much mechanical noise at idle, if my memory is accurate, which it may not be.

adjust the cam chain
Looks good, but don't like the sound of the overhead cam chain.
It's an overhead valve engine with push rods, and not overhead cam.
No cam chain in the engine.
oooooohhhhhh yeaaaaa!!!!!!! Sub and like from me:)
Not worth the price...
Very disappointing sound. Nothing at all like old school Norton or Triumph motorcycles!
