Oh my goodness. My heart hurts with yours but Indy could not have had a better chance at life than what he had. He had wonderful caretakers, a great mom and the best siblings and "cousins" ever. So very, very sad. You guys love them and they know it. God bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's such a great joy to love animals and it hurts so bad when we lose one. Even the ones we have never actually met or had the honor of petting causes us pain. But I would rather go through the pain than never feel the joy of loving them.

This has happened to me as well (not with a deer but with other animals) and you don't quite know what to make of it but are glad that they did not come to a violent end. I just couldn't message you then - I had to have my baby poodle put down last week, then hearing about Indy passing upset me so much and I just couldn't text then, but wanted to do it this evening !! I'm so sorry for Indie's passing. I'm surprised you didn't take him in for an autopsy just to be sure he wasn't carrying something that could be passed on to the others. I hope the rest all remain healthy. God Bless you all.
FYI it's called a necropsy not autopsy, not trying to be rude, just thought you should know. Yes, I agree, most animal diagnostic training centers will do it for free so their students can get some hands-on training. Heart murmurs are common when dears have triplets as one will not enough nutrients. She may of also not got enough of the colostrum when she was born due to all 3 fighting for the first few ounces of milk that protect them from diseases and support their immune system. It's survival of the fittest as the other 2 might have drunk all of it, Sad but this happens with animals including dogs the mother usually rejects the runt and human intervention is what makes dog litters successful these days.

It was inevitable that there would be a loss it’s too bad it had to happen so soon. I’ve enjoyed watching all the deer grow but having raise animals myself I always remembered an old timer telling me “where there is livestock there will always be deadstock! Doesn’t make it easier but it’s life.

Even most of us are probably wondering why we feel a bit sad this evening and realize it was because of hearing this news. If you ever have it happen to any of the others, I know OSU Stillwater Diagnostic Center will do a necropsy most likely cost-free to sort out a reason. He had a wonderful sweet life and brought a lot to your lives and was valued and loved.

Animals know when another passes away. God created them the same day He created man, and told man to have dominion over them. Obviously, some of "us" are able to tame wild animals, and experience their unconditional love. My youngest dog, who was 10, passed away peacefully here at home just over a month ago. It wasn't a tragedy, but rather a blessing. Your little one had a great life, albeit short... it was the BEST life for a #whitetail #deer! Thank God for letting you take care of each one daily, and your heartache will vanish more quickly than you could ever imagine. Peace to you Jimmy and Chris.

Animals know when another passes away. God created them the same day He created man, and told man to have dominion over them. Obviously, some of "us" are able to tame wild animals, and experience their unconditional love. My youngest dog, who was 10, passed away peacefully here at home just over a month ago. It wasn't a tragedy, but rather a blessing. Your little one had a great life, albeit short... it was the BEST life for a #whitetail #deer! Thank God for letting you take care of each one daily, and your heartache will vanish more quickly than you could ever imagine. Peace to you Jimmy and Chris.
