Many thanks. Brought back memories of my time at agricultural college in the 70's. We had a beagle pack run by the college.

Hookemups calm down, its our history. People used to be hung drawn and quartered then there heads put on a spike . How far do you wanna go with this? Great vid scott. Nice to see how things used to be done.

I remember my ten year old son bringing home a hare he had been given after acting as a beater. I soaked it overnight in salted water and had the best rabbit/hare soup ever. Those were the days before food came served up like little pyramids and artistic decorations.

Grew up hunting hares with a greyhound. The thrill of the chase, it's been over thirty years now since I've done it, even thinking back on it now, gives me excitement. The power that is in that wee gracious animal and the speed that it can do. I've had the pleasure many a time of the hare passing me within a few yards and most of the time the hare beat the hound. Though, the cries of the hare when caught and hurting is a bit unsettling. Not sure if I could do that again now. But, a hare fed us for three or four days. I never shot a hare, I respected them too much to take them in such "a lazy and easy manner". There aren't as many hares here nowadays and it has nothing to do with hunting. When I was a boy there were many men with hounds hunting every Sunday, nowadays, no one has a hound and no one hunts, but the moorland is now gone to forestry, loss of habitat and being killed on the roads has reduced the hare population. Then, there is fencing. All the moorland is fenced now, with a row of barbed wire on the top, it makes a terrible mess of a hound. I've gone on too long. Keep them coming Scott. I think I'll go for sloke, you know it as laver, tomorrow.

Just magic Scott. The entire process of the hunt in the field to the processing of the beast, then to the kitchen and finally fork (not in this episode). It highlights the effort that goes into the end product, be that a simple dish of breast and gravy or a breathtaking roast, stew or pie. The entire process gives us the patina that glosses over British Country life. To lose that aspect of the chase is to leave the canvas dull and the recipient of the dish or recipe ill-informed and wanting. So, this Englishman says thanks a bunch and keep it up. Pip Pip Moose

Another well done Scott ,loving these old clips , I never realised until a few years ago how a hare can disappear in seemingly flat ground

I used to love watching Jack Hargreaves years ago. Thanks for showing these Chris. Even after many years in Thailand I love to see the England I remember and was raised in. Well before political correctness was thought of. Thanks also for your cooking videos. Who now could kill, gut, skin and cook a rabbit? Something I did from an early age when food was rationed. The real world.

Thanks for sharing, too bad few folks take advantage of the hares we have out here in the US. Perhaps we'll have to make a jackrabbit video hunting/cooking video

these videos show how things were done in days gone by, things are a bit different now and as far as I'm aware things are done more humanly now, like it or not some folk are interested and I feel they compliment scott's other videos, it's all part and parcel and if you feel it might offend that's okay, your not alone but remember the thousands of others who do find this interesting, and remember how educational scott's other videos are and apreciate the skills of a master butcher who's taken the time to show folk how they can acheve something similar.

Another wonderful video in a fantastic series. I love them all so far, although it was inevitable you would get some fairly negative responses considering the nature of this video Scott, I don't have any issues with it and truly enjoy the journey. As always thanks for sharing mate and a happy New Year to you and your family.

Hi Darren. I understand what your saying, but i feel this is well within the #SRP remit/mission statement. I release 1 new video a week, "EVERY" week, which this past week gone was my 15 bird roast. As for these old vintage films, they are all added extras (bonus`s). You must remember, i am a big advocate of the Great British countryside, and Great Britsh field sports and Great British wild game, i do a lot to promote both the sport and culinary side of the sport., and if i find any vintage films, about this often misunderstood, and misinterpreted genre of sport, i will share it, its all a bonus, especially with this long forgotten series, which is over 30 years old and chronicles our fantastic Great British field sports as it was. By all means stop watching this series of videos, and i dont write that to be rude, its not my style i value your support, BUT, There are many, thousands in fact,of people who genuinely enjoy theses videos, and i receive hundreds of very positive and grateful comments from people who used to watch this series first time round, and have forgotten all about it. If you dont like them, just skip over them, its simple, there are only 2 more left to share in the series, which will be loaded soon, just to give you the heads up, as well as my normal SRP content..No offence intended, all the best. Scott

Thanks for you comments Scott and I do understand what your saying. I'm sorry I think I jumped the gun. I've watched one or too since and in fact enjoyed them. I really enjoy your Chanel and recipes and your passion for what you do. Enjoyed the 15 bird and congratulations on the BBC coverage.

Far, FAR, from it Wim. I release 1 new video a week, EVERY week, which this past week was my 15 bird roast. As for these old vintage films, they are all added extras (bonus`s). "And do you plan to make your own video,s ?"....it goes without saying, obviously i do, and then some, you can be sure of that, ive a list as long as my arm of future videos. So if you think its over, you are evry much mistaken. By all means stop watching these videos, and i dont write that to be rude, its not my style.. There are many/thousands in fact,of people who genuinely enjoy theses videos, and i recieve hundreds of very positive and grateful comments from people who used to watch this series first time round, and have forgotten all about it. Scott Rea I liked them so much, I searched for the others in the series and watched them already. Regardless, I watch each again once you post it. I love your content, and I believe you'd never post a video that wasn't related to the topic that the majority of your subs subscribed in the first place.
Actually, these older videos have encouraged me to reach out to the older butchers and fish mongers in my area of the States (North Carolina in the South) to get their stories and learn more about how it was done in the past and/or present. Cheers for alerting me to how ignorant I am of my own local area. 👍🏻

As for the midlife crisis..im only 21..What you have to remember is i like to and do promote Great Britsih game, be that shooting, butchering masterclasses or in the kitchen, and i think this content fits the #SRP perfectly, These videos are added bonuses, which personally are think are a great addition to the channel. Many thanks.Scott
