  • Unhappy and angry member of Club Mahindra Resorts timeshare scheme speaks about how she was induced to pay nearly two lakh rupees with false promises of a MacBook laptop worth Rs 70,000/- and a hefty Amazon gift voucher of Rs 16,000/-. She explains in detail how Club Mahindra members are cheated and defrauded.
    Club Mahindra Holidays had refused to refund her money. But later, after this video was published, they quietly coughed up the entire amount.

      They call you on your phone and tell you you are eligible for a free gift that you will receive if you attend their meeting in a hotel. Then they take information from you including your salary. If your salary is lower than their threshold, they will cut the call immediately.

    I am a red member for >15 years. Club Mahindra has most of their resorts out of city limits. As a member, one would expect that all of your travel needs would be taken care of, like pick up, drop, site seeing, food etc. But no, everything is charged with a premium as the resort is at some remote location. On top of your membership, every year, you have to pay maintenance fee of about 20000 (red member). These charges keep increasing yearly at the whim of Mahindra. So, you end up paying even more than the initial membership fee (20000 p.a. x 25 years) what you are getting in the name of membership is just a hotel room, that too is difficult to book during the season. As that lady said, it's a trap (rather a money trap). And the Don't fall for it. Book yourself a decent hotel and enjoy your holidays without financial burden that will be out of your control.

      100% agreed on everything you've said. ASF was 17k and reached 20k in 3 years. No matter what type of member u are, its hard to find availabilities anywhere in india except for heavy rainy seasons. Its coz the greedy marketing staff keep on selling membership to get some commission, and the members are more than the occupancy of all the hotels in india. As of today, they still are selling it and u will see some of their hired representatives in crowded public places like bus stop, beaches , markets , malls etc. Im a blue studio member and will never upgrade it. I only visit their hotels closer to me in goa only to finish the yearly seven days. whenever they approach me anyhow, i just abuse them. thats how i spend my stay or else they follow u everywhere. may it be in the pool, dining, even in the rooms. sometimes personally calling on the phone.

    Thanks for sharing the details of the scam. These people arrange customer meets in 5 star hotels. One should attend these meetings, eat free food and collect any gift they give. And come back and don't buy any package. If they pester you on phone, complain to local police.

    firstly, do not take membership. whenever such promises we get, please tell them to give in writing, which they will not give and if they do not give, do not take membership. this rule we should apply not only for such membership but to any other products also. it is very unfortunate that we always sign the terms and conditions without reading it and we are trapped!

      It's an outdated concept now. It was ok in 1996, when it started.... But not now.
      So many good quality hotels are available now, and almost every where.
      Why opt for this foolish scheme?

      Actually the sales people are the crooks. They will lie about everything to meet their target and get the commission. Of course, the company, Club Mahindra in this case, know this but don't do anything about it. They are shielded because there is no written agreement, and if escalated, they can blame it on the sales guy.

    I am not a member but I buy rooms via a agent in Chennai since 2006. You can buy sterling, Mahindra outside with out membership. Generally resorts are not that pricy if booked without membership since membership includes initial payment+ annual maintenance fees which is quite sizable.

    I had similar experience but was able to get full refund of my amount .... A) because I cancelled my membership through EMail before 15 days ,& then started pursuing the matter with the CEO through mail.
    That's when they realised the seriousness n started responding to me .
    I got my full refund on the date promised by them...

    They have refunded complete amount within 90 working days. Don't call them. Sent email to the customer care and then escalate the matter in their hierarchy which is provided in their website... There are two or three levels of escalation. Escalate the matter after giving 5 working days to process the matter. Regarding the EMI's, never ask Club Mahindra to stop it, go to your bank and ask them to stop it( I did the same, but there are some exceptions since we have taken EMI in CM not in our bank)

    I doubt these guys must have taken away customers laptop and amazon vouchers but on the surface this offer itself looks bogus .
    How many more such cases will surface no idea ? Better to file FIR against the employee and company who cheated.

    Similar thing happened with me as well. The sales person promised me 2 gift vouchers but delivered only one. After the money is transferred no one bothers about the customer. The terms and conditions are always in their favour. They only take money and scam you in such a way that you can't even go to the court.

    Agree with you. Mahindra is a scam. The other problem is that all the good slots (Diwali holodays, Xmas / New Year, etc) are all booked by purple members. As a 'red' member you have to be content with off season slots (which the sales guy will never tell you about)

    It’s a very good thing that you are bringing it up in a social forum . Years ago I lost 50000 in this way . Never got a refund of course . I hope you are luckier . Kudos to you for speaking up . If you don’t get a refund and continue to be a member , even that will be very frustrating . Firstly every year you will have to pay a reasonably high maintenance fund for a seven day holiday per year . And you would be lucky if you get a booking in their resort when you have your vacation . Most of the times they are booked out and you are asked to reschedule your vacation which obviously is almost always not possible

    Sister, there is a difference between meeting and briefing. What u went through was briefing. I used to sell these, and then I left the job as it was unethical.

    I feel sorry for you mam that such a thing happened to you. Please don't be harsh on yourself. They are the bad guys and you were too innocent and trusted them and they betrayed you. But now you have learnt your lesson and better not trust others blindly. We will have to get everything they say in writing, that's the only option I can think of.

    I also had exactly the same experience...asked for the refund which they flatly refused...hardly any preferential services even after paying such a heavy amount...what makes them so emboldened to indulge into thuggery so such a magnitude truly baffles me!!

    You can always approach the consumer forum provided you have all the proofs of the things promised to you . Once you raise the issue there it will get resolved

    I have been a member red studio since 16 years. They have systematically reduced the eligibility of red class to the extent that weekends are out of scope in most of the resorts besides of course the peak seasons anyway not being eligible . Investing Higher colour memberships does not make sense financially. Instead put the money in FD. Use the interest and the annual maintenence charges saved ( that you would have otherwise paid as a member) for enjoying a good holiday at a private resort of similar class of you choice. The bonus is you don't need to plan 4 months in advance and no fear losing of your accumulated days due to non use. 😅

    I think it's better that we record the meeting with them, atleast we will have proof in such scenario or we ask them to share all the details on the mail, but the lesson is that we should never trust a word coming out of their mouth.

    I too had had similar experience in Mumbai from Club Mahendra. Their sales people make all false promises and get the membership done and then vanish from the scene dumping all their promises to dust. It’s so unethical and surprised to see such unethical practices from Mahindra brand.

    Very much . I too had taken a Mahindra zest in 2013. Had a 10 year plan . Never used it once. Whenever you wanted to avail there were no rooms available. Inspite of a non use you would still have to pay the annual maintenance fee. Sad to know that a reputed group like the Mahindra's is doing this.

    You will never get any rooms whenever you want. They have more members than rooms accomadabality.
    App shows some abroad destinations where you cannot reach within one month of arrangements like visa, air tickets etc.
    Nowadays no human beings talks whenever we try customer service. All the roads are blocked
    Food & beverages costs 200% morethan 5 star hotels. Their destinations are in such places without hired car, you cannot reach. No foods or restaurants are near around.

    Do not buy club Mahindra membership, all their commitments are false and it is not worth the money. I am also a victim of club Mahindra membership. After my experience with club Mahindra I am not buying any product or services which is backed by Mahindra group of companies. People don't fall for this kind of trap.

    I don't know why go offline agent option if you have all online facilities ? .. never buy subscriptions, insurance, invesment plan like FD, Mutual fund, share from offline agents ... always buy online and take guidance and help via customer care on call (check number from official websites) during purchase... because all calls / conversations are recorded and finally request a final draft copy on E-mail for proof of plan t&c and take some time before making any final decision ... consult with family or friends who working in same fields.

    I hold CM membership. Theres some misselling happening. Some managerial ineffective practices too. Product is fairly good. One should assess the cost of 7-10 nights stay in similar accomodation elsewhere and then compare against your total costs ( intrest , principal loss over initial investment+ annual maintenance costs of rs 20000 ). Do that and then take a call. Secondly , membership allows you to accumulate points and avail as well. But discount that.

    10 customers like you can join hands and hire a powerful advocate to fight them on a PIL case or something and defame them to the max, by calling the press etc....id love to see companies like this suffer and go out of business and open a small tea shop and return to their humble selves.

    Mam the same thing happened to me they refuse to refund but when i sent legal notice they refunded full amount in 15 days . do not let them go do not show weakness social media post will not help you have to take legal fight in consumer court and have patience just to remind that online consumer complain does not do much help go with direct fight

    i am member from 1997. i had a lot of fight with them to get the things what they had promised. i have a big correspondence file, where no reply from them including letters to managing director. that is the reason why people are not becoming member of the club and they are offering lucrative gifts. you will find so many people like you who had suffered like this.

    Im wondering why didn’t you take a email confirmation before making a payment about offers ?
    If you have a taken single email then you would have got your money back or offers as promised in the beginning.

    Yes ,it's a bitter experience for me, they are very bad in customer service, when you lodge a complaint they give you a complaint no, but without addressing the issue they closed the complaint without contacting me. Pl be careful while dealing with these chests.

    They reserve some rooms for private booking also. It's really west of money. We all members should jointly search for solution for refunds.

    We also faced similar issue at the time of putchasing the Membership and the sales guy promised us few things including a I phone, which we never got.
    Availibility of rooms in resort is very rare thing and you cannot plan your holidays basis Club Mahindra membership. You will never get a booking when you need it.
    Only in Offpeak season there is a remote posibility you may get something and that too if you are lucky...Resorts are good but getting a booking on time is a big issue. Customer care is absolutely useless and never will address your issue or assist with bookings...

    Even this is not completely true. To an extent I agree to the point that Club Mahindra Membership is not as useful as Club Mahindra people make it sound, I myself was stupid enough to buy a Red-Studio membership. However, I was sent the goods promised to me in the 1.9 Lakhs that I paid initially. So, it’s not a scam as they are showing it to be. The main reason not to buy would be unavailability of resorts in case the vacation isn’t planned 3-4 months in advance. So, in case your job is like mine and you aren’t able to plan your yearly vacations well in advance and chart out each day of the calendar from the beginning, it’s better you don’t buy the membership. But if you feel you can plan your vacations in advance, they do actually have nice properties that can be considered for your vacation needs.

    I was about to purchase club mahindra membership while I am living in Berlin . Salesman saying that you can get all the benefits by paying 40% of the amount in partner hotels in Europe as club Mahindra does not cover all the countries.. After 5-6 followups from them I stopped responding them.. 20,000 maintenance plus 5-6 lakh membership, total scam.

    People, please go through the fine prints and read all their terms and conditions before signing up for anything. If you do, you’ll know right away that it’s nothing but a scam. Be careful.

    Is it mis selling or sales person taking advantage of people's greed? Approx 2 lakh membership out of which 70k macbook and 16k amazon gift card. One is paying half of the amount as gift from our own money to us.

    You are referring to national consumer helpline I think, you should approach your district consumer court where you will likely get justice.

    No empathy for customers of services or brands like BYJU's, Dr. Sheth's/Mama Earth, time share holiday packages.
    Whether one are a fool or not a fool hardly matters, if one even considered such things.. let alone let some buggers IN into one's own premises.
    Hope there is a legal way to prove misselling. Although pretty sure that no audio or video was recorded from the plaintiff's side during the said meetings.
    Also how naive to imagine that someone will take 100 ₹ and return items worth 45₹.
