Randy, thanks for your common sense and honest videos! A friends son was getting ready to come out to Wyoming for an Elk hunt a few years ago from here in Minnesota. While searching on the wildlife/game website for Wyoming, he came across an article about an "exchange program" between Wyoming and Minnesota, it didn't stay up for long. Minnesota was giving breading pairs of wolves in exchange for breading pairs of coffee/mountain lions from Wyoming. We've seen an explosion of wild cat sightings here in Minnesota in recent years now and our Timber Wolf management plan stinks about as bad as your grizzly bear plan! Many landowners in northern Minnesota have had livestock wipped out or severely reduced by wolves. One guy had 60+ sightings/encounters on his property alone. I'm a whitetail deer hunter here in Minnesota and it's sad to see what the DNR has done here to our wild game. The area I hunt in is considered CWD now and all deer are to be tested. I think it's all part of a scam to cull the deer herd here. Keep up the good work! God bless you, your family and the USA!

I grew up in Montana and lived, worked and played in the woods my entire life. I have been saying the exact same thing you are saying for years. Socialistic control is absolutely right. We got our Elk herds back and hunting was at it's best and then they brought in these illegal wolves that devastated our herds. These wolves are huge and don't look like the wolves we had..We have Grizzlies in areas we never had before..I have seen our freedoms, rights, sanity and country taken away to install some kind of socialist dystopia..

Like you, I spend a lot of time concerning the bear/wolf issue. My fear is that it is too late. If the wolves do to the elk what they have done in the last twenty years, there will be no appreciable elk for them to eat. The wealthy have built homes and roads and driven the elk into the teeth of wolves. The grizzly have stopped hibernating fully because they follow wolves and claim the kill. Bears need not sleep because they are getting a free meal. The lower 48 states is not big enough to house wolves. Too much pavement and too many million dollar homes. Couple this with Chronic Wasting Disease and we are seeing the beginning of the end of hunting. When there is no hunting there will be no need for private gun ownership. PRIVATE GUN OWNERSHIP IS WHAT THEY ARE AFTER. Thirty years hence and hunting will be a thing of the past. IT IS TOO LATE.

I live in Montana and right now they have an area closed in the Madison range because there are over 20 grizzlies on some dead cattle that ate a poisonous plant. That’s just a portion of the range! We are seeing griz in areas and mountain ranges that they have never been seen in before and we have several attack’s each year! I can’t even begin to express my sorrows to see what the wolves have done to Montana’s sapphire range. The elk are nearly non existent on public land and even private doesn’t have the populations that use to be in some of these mountains but yet fwp has shoulder season for cow elk that last from August through February!

Great video Randy! It's a sad situation with our western wildlife. The game needs to be manged for people first and predators last. Nothing wrong with wolves and bears as long as the predator population does not cause a appreciable decline in huntable game animals.

      Are you from Pennsylvania?
I ask because I never seen a coyote in Pennsylvania till early 2000's. Then they exploded over the past twenty years. The deer population has took the biggest hit.
I honestly believe they introduced them to curve the population of deer. So the forest could regrow and the lack of new hunters.
When I started hunting in the early 80's I'd see twenty to thirty deer daily. Nowadays... I'm lucky to see one! However... that one is usually a big buck.
If you ask me... I'd rather see more deer... Why... introducing a young hunter is better when they actually see something. You can not expect a young hunter to sit all day and see nothing. Makes me wonder why they don't want to hunt.

The WY front range might just be the most spectacular place on this planet. Wish I lived there! Maybe someday.
I can’t speak intellectually to the reintroduction of apex predators into WY. But I know that human impact on them reduced their numbers to near zero.
As a result, the native ungulate population soared. That made hunters happy because trophy antlered game became plentiful. But human hunting could not adequately control the ungulate population. Blame the Game Commissioners for that mismanagement. That dense ungulate population put stress on other aspects of the ecosystem.
The delicate balance between predator and prey was the natural order of things thousands of years before modern man arrived on the scene. We screwed it up. And maybe we still are. I don’t know.
With our advanced brains and technology we have the ability to quickly transform the planet. And we are having great success, but not always for the betterment of our world. Feral hogs in the south are a good example. That invasive species is an ecological disaster.
A far larger threat to us is the Left Wing’s determination to remove our right to own guns. They keep assigning criminal blame on the weapon, not the psychopath pulling the trigger. Why? Because it’s easier to sell that approach to the uneducated masses in order to get their agenda approved. It’s too hard to explain or implement national mental health care.
Notice you don’t ever hear the Left complain about the ridiculously high monthly murder rates in our large cities (all controlled by Democrats!). I guess those lives don’t matter.
You also don’t see them trying to ban pressure cookers, propane tanks, cars, airliners, knives, baseball bats, axes and claw hammers. So they clearly have an agenda and they keep driving forward with the gun ban. And when they win, we will discover that nothing has changed. Mass murders will still occur - but the 2nd Amendment will be gone. Their mission will be accomplished. The big lie wins.

Your absoultly correct again Sir. Thank You
The difference between Grizzly Bears that get hunted and those that don't and have no fear of humans is remarkable. The Bear density is also incredible here now. After being charged on horseback by a sow with two cubs 19 years ago in a willow thicket at a creek crossing I gave considerable thought to the situation. Even though there was four of us on saddle horses with five pack stock the Sow couldn't hear us coming. The muffling effect of the 6 foot tall willows and the sound of the rushing water prevented her from being warned and taking her cubs and moving away. I realized the harrowingly close call could have been prevented by simply attaching a sheep bell to my pack horses girth cinch. My wife and I spend about two and a half months in Grizzly country each year. I've rode a couple of thousand miles in Grizzly country and I haven't had an ugly encounter like that one since I began using a bell. I like the sound of sleigh bells better than a sheep bell and even though the camera Mic makes the sound seem loud on video in reality it's not. The FS packers all ride with bells as well. They work.
    We saw 17 Grizzly in 2017, 15 in 2016, 13 in 2015, ect, ect.

Its not just there they have done this type of thing!
I live in the Deep south east.
And regardless what T.V. shows its not all country clubs and beach and lake resorts.
I seen the goverment FLOOD our delta this year Right in the first day untill the last day of hunting season. Well it killed 90% of our wild hogs and young deer.
We took the boat out and I swear Hogs were stuck in trees dead , deer were dead all in the bayous floating. I seen THOUSANDS of BIG gators in 4 days EVERY WHERE....
we have more Black bear and Coyote now than ever!
They open deer season right when fawns are way too young.
Its all a plan to starve out the Bayou people. They know we really need that meat ,we Need those hogs.

I agree with your message. TN is protecting alligators and some kind of big cats that have migrated from GA and FL saying these animals have more rights to be here and feed off our game than the Citizens of TN. Thankfully coyotes are nuisance animals and I agree we should be running all predators to extinction so there’s ample game for everyone. We can all defund them by not buying a license, in a year or two they’ll be trying to save face while giving you some of your rights back. They want money, it’s all about money. And for shit salaries!

As a life long resident of Wyoming, I am 74 years old and hunted since I was 15, Seen a lot of changes and MOST are not good. the 2023 Wy g&f was complaining the there are too many elk in the Laramie range. The elk are mostly on private land and the land owners have leased the hunting rights to outfitters that are charging enormous guide fees and splitting it with the landowner . I have heard as high as $10,000 and the land owners are getting crop damage on top of the fees. This spring the G&F hired "professional" hunters to thin the heard...This news made it on Cowboy State Daily, and they killed 140 head of elk and gave the meat to the Governor';, wife for her feed the hungry campaign. Now I agree the meat went to good use BUT The reason there are so many elk is because those land owners won't allow people on their lands to hunt.

It's insane but even as well as you have laid out the way they are using the system to achieve their goals, people will still pull back and swear that the government means well...

It’s as bad or worse here in Alaska. I’ve been preaching this same message for over 30 years, few listen. Tying together the elimination of game, the reduction of hunting and eventually the elimination of hunting for some reason people’s eyes glaze over. To me it’s simple, just connect the dots!! Most people who should be siding with us just don’t add things up. The wolves and bears here have decimated the moose population. There is a large park here in Anchorage that used to have I would guess 20 + moose running around. They were what we local’s call “town moose”. There was rarely any problem with them, they were used to seeing lots of people and everyone usually left them alone and took pictures of them. I walk my dogs out there, now you see bear scat all the time and it’s very rare that you see a moose. There never were any bears out there at all before and I would bet that most of those moose never saw a bear in their entire life!! Well, they do now and the bears have decimated the population. There are large areas in Alaska where no moose calves survive the summer because of the bears and wolves.. this started back in the 90’s under a democrat governor ( there’s a real shock!!) and it is worse today. I appreciate that you are using your bully pulpit to try and wake people up because this is a very serious problem and the game populations are way down. Anchorage is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and the moose from there always come into town during the winter. As a result you used to practically trip over the moose here in town. A day never went by without seeing several moose. Now, I’ve seen one moose so far this winter!! One, and I walk my malamutes almost every night for 5-6 miles. One moose, I used to see several moose very day!! It’s the same way all over the state . And if you read the predator hunting laws you get the distinct impression they don’t want these animals hunted. Well, maybe they don’t. You think maybe??!!! And these bears are coming into town and killing people too. A couple of years ago there were 26 bears shot in Anchorage that summer. And there were several people attacked and some killed. These brown bear up here usually run 1000 to 2000 pounds, can run 35MPH and are very smart!! Most people are no match for one of these monsters. Wolves have started attacking people. And people out walking their dogs on some of these trails usually let their dog run off leash. The wolves now have one wolf run out on the trail In front of the dog and he acts like he wants to play so the dog now chases him. A short distance down the trail several other wolves jump out and the dog is now lunch. They dare people to try and do anything about it, most aren’t armed so they can’t. This will only get worse. A couple of years ago a wolf attacked a woman when she was out jogging and killed and ate her. They’re getting bolder, I wonder why?

I know exactly what you are talking about. As a former resident of the WAPITI valley (even lived on the old Sky Tell ranch where my kids were born) I hunted Jim mountain, Dead Indian meadows, Carter Mountain and just all over. I left in 1986 and even then I saw the grizz population moving down the valley. I even encountered one on Rattle snake mountain within view of Cody. I now live in Idaho and those invasive murderers have ruined my elk areas on the south side of the Frank Church wilderness area. Once there was a large population of EVERYTHING and the hunt was a general season. Now it is not worth hunting if you enjoy a good elk steak. To top it off, ever year the tags have been reduced to less than 25% of the former tags. I am pissed!

I hope the states that still have game get this sorted out soon before they lose it all like we did over here in the PNW. I haven’t seen a branch antlered buck on public land in 3 seasons now. In the 2019 deer season, the only bucks I have seen were in my yard. We have so many cougars hunters are seeing more cougars than deer in this area. Few are seeing wolfs but they are here as well. The game department won’t admit it but they are here. I saw two wolfs right down the road from my home. I called the game warden to let them know and the first thing out of their mouth was “we don’t have them here, they were hybrids that got loose”. They didn’t ask me where I lived or what they looked like. It was a canned response without question. They don’t want us to know how bad the predation epidemic has gotten. What does that tell you?

  • @elpmettsol

Very good information sir. Especially for this East cost boy who never would have known about this problem, until now. So now you’ve brought it out there for everyone to know, but what are the people (We The People,) of WY doing to combat it?

    • @TheRealGunsmith
      @TheRealGunsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

We are being very vocal. I am putting videos out. Ask people to call WY G & F AND their state Fed representatives, as the only way to get the full control of wolves and griz in state hands is to have congressional and presidential support, and no more litigation [that is the BIGGIE] and rules by activist judges working for psuedo-science groups.
I wish I had a key and the answer. I feel like I am betting my head against a brick wall and every year I see less and less to hunt, and more and more of my heritage slide down the tubes.

We’re going through the same thing with black bear being released in Louisiana. The bears have more rights than the people. If a bear comes on our porch and gets our carbage they blame us for leaving it out. Our grandfathers had bears in the early 1900s they killed them out to save their livestock.

I agree with you completely on the mismanagement of hunting grounds. Although I live in Illinois and have no problem with large carnivores, our main problem are places to hunt. With over 95% of land in Illinois in private hands and people willing to pay crazy amounts to hunt. This has forced the average hunter to over hunted public grounds where the parking lots are full, trash is galore and the animals are scarce. Hunting is dying in this state and the younger generation has no interest. I'm 63 and will be the last hunter in my family.

I have been trying to point this out for years, especially the gun control angle. Here in Anchorage, Alaska where I live we have a beautiful coastal trail area that has a paved trail that runs for about 8 miles between one park and another. You used to see at least 12-15 moose every time you walked into this area. And it is extremely popular with people here, easily there are 1200-1500 people who walk, ride bikes, skateboards, roller skate and you name it transiting thru this area every weekend. It is a very beautiful area and people loved seeing the wildlife. There were NO bears or wolves there. I’d bet most of those moose in there had never seen a bear in their lives. Well, bears started coming into the area, and those moose were easy pickings. Four years ago when I got a new puppy I took him out there to walk and every few hundred yards there was a pile of bear scat in the trail. I went by 6 piles and turned around to get out of there. A couple of years ago they had to kill a bear that was starting to get aggressive with people.Oh my, say it isn’t so!!!! They never should have let those bears move in there and live there. We didn’t have any before, were they brought in and planted there? Last time I walked my dog there I saw 2 moose, th,ants all. Before you tripped over them, now most trips out there you don’t see any.this isn’t just “happening”. It’s planned.

You said a mouthful there partner. It just as bad down here in Louisiana now in what was called the Hunters Paradise. That is what the motto of this state is. It is not like that anymore. Down here now if you aren't a member that is paying these really high membership rates every year then you are disposed to trying to hunt in public hunting areas. Good luck with that because there is no way you can go into a public hunting area any more when they don't know exactly where you are suppose to be. These game wardens that we have down here are some of the most assinine people I have ever dealt with. They are all politically appointed jobs that must answer to people that have taken our true free hunting rights away. There is no such thing as going and buying a license to hunt whatever you pay to hunt anymore and think you are going to find a place to hunt like the old days.

One Other Important Point: In California the state PERMANENTLY banned hunting of mountain lion. After several years of that the mountain lion behavior toward humans has changed. They now no longer view humans as a threat and have started acting more aggressively toward humans. The same is true with Grizzlies. The longer they are not hunted the more aggressive toward humans they will become.
